I gave one star because I couldn't give zero. DO NOT use Aspen Property Management - especially if you value fairness, respect, and basic human decency. Aspen Property Management managing in Edgewood, MD -- and they are by far the WORST management company I've ever encountered. They claim to "serve the community," but that's nothing more than a hollow slogan. In reality, Aspen exists to exploit and take advantage of the very communities they're supposed to protect. Case in point: they're out here towing cars from property owners -- not random abandoned vehicles -- but actual residents -- for the most minor of infractions. We're talking about something like a flat tire that happened just one day prior. No grace. No courtesy notice. No decency. Instead, they send in their go-to tow company -- basically glorified predatory patrols -- riding around like bounty hunters, looking for any reason to snatch cars off the lot. It's sneaky, unethical, and downright egregious. Aspen isn't here to build or support communities -- they're here to profit off of people's misfortunes, one towing fee, fine, and headache at a time. If you're thinking about doing business with them -- DON'T. Run in the opposite direction. There are better options out there. No idea what this company even is or what they do or who they are, however their reviews on Google are terrible. Why do I care and how do I know this? Well, had to look them up when we kept noticing reoccurring charges on our bank statements from them that we did not approve. 4 weeks of consistent charging from this company and we have never dealt with this company. We do not rent property from anyone anywhere, nor do we own property we rent out. We have owned our last 3 properties over the span of 10 years. Our bank can't even figure out where these charges are coming from other than the fact that it's from Aspen property management. We actually had to have our card shut down and sent a new one because of the charges that kept reoccurring from this place. read more

If you are searching for a management company for your HOA and you come across Aspen as a possibility, run. Please note that everything in this review is my opinion, and my opinion is that the people who work for Aspen seem to really enjoy treating owners like Aspen staff are sadistic and the homeowners are unruly children. I would recomend suspiciousness of the positive Google reviews. I don't know a single person in my neighborhood who would give them a positive review. If you look at the positive reviews, they seem to be almost entirely from people who are not homeowners. Also, the language and timing of the reviews causes me to suspect they push people to "leave us a 5 star review" when they know the person is happy with them. One person who left a 5-star states he was happy with Aspen because he, who is not someone who employs Aspen (i.e. not a homeowner) had some conflict with a homeowner. The reviewer seems quite smug because with just a fast call to Aspen, they bullied the actual homeowner into coming to heel for him. It is my opinion that the behavior engaged in by Aspen described by this random man is bullying. This would also be consistent with my direct experiences with Aspen. I have caught them more than once peering over high fences into backyards. They go around once a year to find every ridicilous thing they can criticize about every property owner's home. They then send tone deaf and unpleasant letters to everyone threatening fines and such if we don't jump right up and fix everything. I think it must be like Christmas for them. We homeowners gather outside and share our lists, shaking our heads at the inept way they handle such things. They do this, and yet they have a landscaping company that seems to just drown the earth in chemicals. Since their newer company, nearly every last firefly, butterfly, and bumble bee has vanished. We used to get so many, but not anymore. So, if you are an environmentalist, they might not be the management company for you. Further, they act as though they own the property. They cut down multiple gorgeous trees for no reason. I don't know what they would say to that, but I spoke with people who know and also had the trees checked, as this was the 4th or 5th time they did this and it seems to be done in retaliation against a neighbor who won't bow down to them. The trees were all healthy. They didn't ask or even notify anyone. The tree company employeees, a few of them at least, seemed disgusted by what they had been made to do. My understanding is they contracted with this tree company to just cut down the beautiful, healthy large trees periodically for no purpose, then they will plant these tiny, twigs almost, so small you can barely see them. Because the few little twigs they had stuck in the ground after murdering the trees we all loved so much was great for everyone's property value. They didn't even go through the pretense of the planting of these poor sad twigs when they killed these gorgeous flowering trees, doing so right before they bloomed, too. It was heartbreaking and cruel and grossly overreaching, and it harmed property values. Their idea of landscaping is to have someone plop a few sad plants by the neighborhood sign every year. It is like a circa 1980 shopping mall sign planting, only not nearly as nice. Also, one woman who works for Aspen tried to get me to give her dirt on my neighbors a handful of years ago, too, which is just ugly. I would never trust Aspen to manage an HOA. Heck, I wouldn't trust Aspen to manage a snowball stand. I have no direct conflict with them, altough I've just about decided to retain an attorney over the harm they allegedly have caused to property values and to the grounds. I want to at least get their input and see what, if anything, we homeowers can do to stop them from further harming the environment of our community. This is an honest review based on my personal experiences and my observations of their actions and interactions with others. I have formed opinions based on my experiences and observations, and this review reflects my personal opinions. I am making no claims beyond that. To be clear, my opinion is that: They are cheap, and I speculate that may be how they maintain contracts, but that is mere speculation. I would pay twice as much just to be rid of them, though, so money isn't everythig by a long shot, especially if my concerns about the chemicals used by their agents are correct. Again, this is based on the rather sudden vanishing of roughly 85% of the butterflies, bees, and fireflies. We used to see a good number of praying mantis, too, and now rarely see one. Also, now that I think of it, lady bugs are also almost gone. Oh! And birds, too. Their numbers seem to have dropped severely more recently compared to the drop in beneficial insects, as have the numbers of squirrels. They are bad for people, animals, insects, and plants. read more

Really awful. Egregious violations of HOA abound meanwhile they're quick to hound my elderly Neighbor with "your lawn is 13 cm too high" citations. Good luck getting anyone on the phone. Last year they tried to get us all to buy $90 plastic trashcan fences. I will never own in another neighborhood managed by Aspen. read more

Horrible, poor customer service, lost paper work needing to be re-submitted on multiple occasions, as you have to get "approval" for any changes or modifications to your property, which, I get, as you don't want your neighbor to have a pink door and a fence in the front yard, but lose the ##$$!!! paperwork submitted and send you a violation notice after you've had a deck for 8 years. What was great (sarcastic) is I've had little white candles in my 2 front windows and little white lights on my little potted fir tree on my front porch and I got a violation that my "Christmas lights" needed to be removed or I would be fined (have been in the windows and on the tree for approx. 4 years). They do not fulfill their obligations in a timely manner if they do at all. A property management company should not have to be constantly reminded to do what they are hired for including the simplest of things. Just got rid of one property manager for appropriating funds. Someone thought it was a bright idea to hire Aspen. Don't know if they are the same one that manages us but am not impressed. There have been code violations here but nothing is done about it. We have always followed the code. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. read more

I applied for a rental at 409 S. Grand in Bozeman and was told the rental was available. I filled out a rental application and paid the application fee. Despite reaching out to Aspen Property Management on several occasions via phone and email. I never heard back. They were happy to cash my check but did not seem motivated to provide any service whatsoever. Please do not give Aspen Property Management your application fee without a commitment on their part. read more

Do not waste your time here completing an application. My roommates and I all are hard-working people that are happy to pay our rent on time. We have challenged credit but between all of us we are more than capable of paying the rent. This company simply took our money from the application and did not follow through with a lot of the paperwork that was needed. They kept losing their information that we were sending over, and we had to send him several times. I've even had to come out of my way to submit information because apparently they couldn't print anything. By the time everything was all done, they ended up denying us after they gave us a complete run around the entire time. I wasted time effort energy and money trying to live here Considering a highly disorganized company. I would not recommend here to anyone. There are way nicer places with better customer service. They do not communicate with each other so therefore how can they communicate with you properly. Trust me just save your money on the application. You'll thank me later for it. read more

I've found Aspen to be a very responsive management company. I've contacted them many times over the course of the 3 years I've had my property. There has never been a time that I have been met with anything but a professional staff and quick response to my requests. The Property Manager for our community is always very pleasant and knowledgeable. I have attended a couple of the monthly meetings and review all the reports that are provided by Aspen, they are always prepared and answer all questions very well. We are buried in snow today after yesterdays storm. We still have no snow removal and 4-6 feet of snow on the road. Impossible for even a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The storm ended 11 hours ago. Aspen Property management is an example why we need government regulation and lawsuits. read more

I happened to follow a link to this forum and saw the remarks dated 8/5/11 regarding Aspen Property Managment. I am a Board Member of another Condominium Association (in Cecil County as well) that utilizes Aspen Property Management ... I think this poor soul is misinformed. Board of Directors at all Associations make determinations for Level of Dues To Be Paid, Snow Removal Companies to Be Utilized, and what Policies for their Asscoiation will be (for all who live in their respective Association, Renters and Owners). So if you have a problem with any of the above, you need to bring up your questions with your Board of Directors. I am not sure why you criticized Aspen Property Management for your snow problem, because a sentence later, you indicate it was the County you had a problem with ... and then you waited till August to complain about Aspen, even though you know they are not at fault. Our Association utilizes Aspen for their guidance and then we make decisions ... that Aspen then carries out for us. They are both very responsive and hands on ... especially compared with some other Property Managers we have experienced prior to hiring them. You are lucky to have them as your Property Manager. read more

Newark De is filled with developments ,old & new, that are displaying beautifully planned entrances, lined with flowering trees and well manicured greenery. You can watch the landscaping vision come to fruition as time passes. I watched my Newark neighborhood get mundanely hacked and mulched all summer... as every summer. The "vision" seems to be to lowcut the distasteful mini groundcover along the main road so it doesn't have to be cut again. My mothers hoa charges $110 less and they have all I first mentioned...more park area and roads to maintain too! My neighborhood is starting to look like those without a home owners association. Our exteriors are more uniform, but this was the case before aspen propert management. All they added was about $100 to the hoa fee....around $250 for my town home. They won't read this though...they don't check emails or return callls. They do, however, ride around in an inneffective effort to catch you "in the act". My hard earned money at work...not when it snows though, the vehicle wouldn't make it through. The "got ya!" guy manages to miss solicitors, the brochures hung everywhere and the same ole low hanging tree branches that scratch my car. I missed 1 of the 2 meetings we've had over the years....so, I've forfeited my right to an unscratched car in a solicitation free neighborhood. In fairness they have a sign about 5 square inches small & close to Wawa where its most effective...check the much bigger strategically placed ones in other communities. For an immediate $100 increase when they stepped on the scene, my lowest expectation is that the neighborhood starts maturing into an asthetically pleasing landscape. They charged more for the neighborhood to look like the "no frills" brand. Anywhoo it used to be one of the nicest neighborhoods. But now, shop around and you'll find better upkeep for a lesser association fee.....and just maybe feel welcomed into a unified community. I thought HOAs worked on that sort of goal.....naive. read more

Completely terrible service would have gave them zero stars if i could have. The long and short of it, they raised our dues from $75 to $300, told us it would go down ever year till it was close to 75 dollars again (as of right now 2014 its still at $250). The service has completely went down hill. Snow removal is not very good, some days they dont even come, our landscape is herrendous our community ground looks terrible, the grass cutting is not consistent once a week then not for two weeks or three sometimes. Our playground which burns me up cause I have a young child is just junk, its terrible rust every where, not mantained at all,and has had no new addition in the past seven years! I have on more then one occasion voiced my opinion about things that need attention and evey single time I was greeted with distain like i shouldn't even be bothering them with my petty complaints. We had dead trees after and invasive disease killed all our evergreen in the community for year, yes you read that right years it was to the point the limb where randomly falling out of the trees to the ground not safe at all with children and people walk around and under them. More then one extend over our public walk ways and could have fallen on anybody walking by. This past winter (2013) two extremely large trees one almost laying in my yard fell down in January and werent removed until late May, LATE MAY. I called four different times about these trees and got no where, excuse after excuse for why they have been removed yet. I could keep going but im sure you get the point, PLEASE do yourself a favor and dont even consider this company for your property management, you will be sorry just like the residents of our community. read more
