After they were able to bill Medicare, my mother became a number to this terrible company. The nurse told me I was not to contact her more than once a week regarding my mother's care. They didn't care about what she liked to eat, they didn't care what clothes she liked to wear. When I called the company asking to speak to the social worker, "she's not available.". She was never available after getting the Medicare payment started. When my mother became dehydrated, my requests for help were ignored. The "nurse" asked ,"how'd you get her to drink?". By giving her a cold glass of Pedialyte that I had supplied in her refrigerator, instead of leaving a lukewarm bottle that she cannot see, let alone open, you horrible excuse for a "healthcare provider.". They are NOT open 24 hrs a day like they say in the advertisements, they do not provide care over weekends or holidays, your loved one gets their pathetic excuse for care when it is convenient for the company, not the patient. They could not wait to sedate my helpless mother, they did not write down anything I told them about my mother's preferences. No social worker ever returned my calls after the initial promises of care they could start as soon as the money started flowing. When I asked what had changed so rapidly, "she declined," was the only response from this terrible company. I was also told "you don't seem to understand hospice,". Maybe because that is not MY job, it is YOUR job. I lost my mother a few weeks after the nurse told me she was in great health and I could expect her contract to be renewed in six months. "She declined," sedation, then don't bother us with your concerns. When she began falling out of bed at night due to confusion from the drug cocktail, their solution was to put a tumbling mat two feet below her bedside. When I lost my mother, she was covered in bruises over her head, face, and shoulder. A month later, they sent me a generic thank you note, "Thank You for letting us care for your loved one," because they didn't even care about her NAME. STAY AWAY FROM A PLUS unless you hate your dying family member. Look for a nonprofit hospice. I still have nightmares about how my mother was treated during what became the end of her life. A Plus Hospice is concerned with billing and payment, not care.

Granted, she was on vacation the week after he died, but she could have signed the damn thing that next Monday, especially since she had an APPOINTMENT with him at 8am that Monday! He laid in the cooler 3 more days while we waited for her to sign. Very unprofessional. Very uncaring. We haven't heard one word of condolences from Horizon since he passed away. He was just a paycheck to them.
