Was in the area and read the reviews so decided to order take out pizza. Small local Greek restaurant with polite staff. Got home and started to devour the Traditional pizza substitute olives for onions. Lots of toppings and massive amount of cheese! So much that one slice had like 1/2 centimetre ... though I love melted cheese maybe a bit overkill but the pizza was oh so good. It was worth the price for quality and quantity. Next time will try the souvlaki with Greek salad with the famous dressing. read more

Another shout out to Assini. For my Mum's birthday, I ordered on the telephone to be delivered to their home. Great communication, and above and beyond service. The owner was super helpful when I had incorrect menu information, giving great recommendations. They even wrote happy birthday on the order and delivered right on time! My parents were happy with the food, and had enough for the following day. They had the prawn dinner and the lamb souvlaki with baklava to finish. read more

Went here tonight because the husband was craving calamari. Honestly I haven't been so satisfied dining out in a long time. Usually when I dine out I often don't even pay attention to customer service. As long as the food gets to me on a timely manner and my water gets filled then there's all there is to it. But tonight I was treated to good old school customer service. Vic is such a great server/owner . He really knew how to make someone feel welcomed and at ease at his restaurant. It's really hard to come across people who seem genuine. But this guy was awesome. That was the bonus. The food was excellent. The calamari was seasoned well and had the crunch that I liked. The chicken was succulent and tasty. Oh my gosh the Greek salad dressing was sooooo good and the spanakopita was the best I've ever had. Seriously this place a the complete package. We ordered take out with my daughter. I had my usual selection when I have Greek of Chicken Souvlaki. Everything was very bland. The potato and rice didn't have any lemon taste and the chicken was well cooked but with little seasoning. The Greek salad was overloaded with some kind of tsatzki sauce or dip that wasn't very appetizing. My wife had lamb souvlakia and found the same issues with the rice, potato and salad. My daughter had the calamari and wasn't crazy about it either. The pita bread was the usual stuff that you would pick up at the store. You do get a good size portion and with all the complaints nothing was cooked incorrectly. Just not a place any of us would ever order from again. First of all, if you read any of my reviews you will discover that I am not a complainer. I could have phoned the restaurant, and probably should have, but it's done and done. I should have also read some of the reviews before moving forward. The problem we had was we needed a restaurant that still had pizza and greek food on the menu. Most of our favorite greek restaurants do not. We ordered a delivery through one of the restaurant delivery places, and it came fast, so it's not on them. The delivery company even noted that it might take more time, which is fine. What is not fine. 1) the pizza was practically raw. The dough was half cooked, and the cheese was barely melted. We baked it in a hot (over 400) oven for an additional 25 minutes to get a crispy crust with crispy edges and baked cheese. The sauce tasted like it was barely seasoned, if at all. We also ordered two chicken souvlakis - one with ribs, and one chicken breast. Super dry on both. It came with a generous portion of rice and potato, and a little greek salad with a dressing, which tasted like a zhussed up "Creamy Greek" from the grocery store. It honestly was the worst takeout of 2020 (which for all of us living under a pandemic, is pretty grim) Note to self and the world out there. We ordered take out to feed family who were visiting. We shared two chicken souvlaki dinner specials ($34.99) and a calamari appetizer ($12.99). Food was prepared in a timely manner. The quantity of the food was good. Portion size was reasonable for the price. The chicken was seasoned and cooked nicely. Rice was flavourful without being greasy. Roast potato was done well. The calamari was lightly battered. Greek salad was a good portion. There was a generous portion of tzatziki sauce to accompany the food. Sooooo upset. The food is good BUT the delivery guy was abusive and upset. When I asked to check my bill. He said I don't know just pay me I'm the driver. I'm not gonna write an essay here. Just wanted pizza for dinner my usual place was closed grabbed the menu for assinis. Ordered special #1 2 -2 topping pizzas $22.50 and a can of soda for delivery Bill that came said $32.50 called to confirm the special price and it had gone up $7.50! How old was my menu!! That said pizza rated 4 out of 10 Overcooked Dry Looked like a frozen pizza from the store For $14 each yikes Ithe Greek food is usually good. Great revisit to a place we used to love and now love again. Went back to Assini Greek Restaurant last night with my wife after quite a while and what a wonderful surprise. The restaurant is as cosy as ever and was totally renovated by the owner, Vic who met us personally at the door and seated us. Vic was entertaining to all his guests throughout the night. The steady stream of pickup and food delivery orders attested to the popularity of the food . Our meals were excellent and the portions so large that we had to take quite a bit of it home. My husband and I went tonight for a date night. We arrived around 6:30pm. There were 3 other tables occupied and we were seated immediately. It took a few minutes to bring us the menus but that was because the sole waitress was taking payments and cleaning up the other tables as they all cleared out within minutes of our arriving. We were very hungry and ordered: Saganaki, Kalamaria, Chicken & Prawn Souvlaki combo and Chicken Souvlaki and ribs combo. Our appetisers arrived rather quickly. Both were excellent, although, I preferred the saganaki. The kalamaria was perfectly cooked, tender and not at all chewy. The pita bread that was served was warm and fresh, too. After our appetisers, we were served a small cup of tomato broth and vegetable soup. It was ok, but I'm not a fan of tomatoes so didn't finish it. Then came the absolutely fabulous bowl of Greek salad. I'd read good things about their dressing, and everything I'd read was true! DELICIOUS! Our meals were then served and were FABULOUS! The prawn souvlaki was delicious and the chicken souvlaki was good, too! Even the vegetables on the plate were yummy! We went to Assinis because I had a 25% off coupon from the Entertainment Book..... But I would happily go again and pay full price. Totally worth it! read more

I can't get over how good their Greek salad is. It's not your typical vinaigrette type Greek salad it has this super creamy delicious dressing! I absolutely love it. I live in Vancouver now but, whenever I'm visiting my parents in surrey it's always a must for dinner! Their portions are good sizes. I always go for my usual kalamari & chicken souvlaki combo it never disappoints flavours are always on point. I met the owner one time when we were dining and he's such a friendly guy he even gave us dessert on the house. That was pretty sweet. read more

The restaurant is very cozy, nicely decorated and has a sense of home that made all of my friends feel welcomed and warm. I made reservations for 8 people and when we came it was all set up for us very nicely and right away the boss made us settled in. The food was delicious and there where no complaints about it whatsoever. I ordered the chef's special and the sauce was delicious, the noodles perfectly cooked. There were also Lamb shoulder and a small baked lasagna (that was giant)! By the end of the night we were more than full, but he treated us with 2 plates of this homemade cheesecake mousse atop graham crackers. On the house! The customer service was splendid. We will make this our go to restaurant from now on as the customer service, and food went over our expectations and I am sure Assini's will not fail to meet our needs in the future. read more

I do like their food but have a discerning palette and would like to add some constructive critism, I would rate them 3.5 *stars, as of Aug. 5th/22: Greek Salad: is fresh and tasty dressing, but needs RED ONION not white Kalamari: lacked more breading or coating so its more crispy and tasteful, this was bare and very lightly dusted without any crunch or flavor? Potatoes: Good! Okay portion. Prawn Skewer: Good, but should be larger or have a few more smaller ones served. Rice: is heavily served and should be cut in half portion with more visible Vegetables on the plate in lieu of too much rice. It was good, ala dente. Vegetables: Scarce and barely present, should be larger chunks with better mix of greens, (i.e. Broccoli, Cauliflower, beans, etc..), too scanty and few. Tatziki sauce: should be larger quantity for a large plate of food, not a small capful, right. Water should have some ice in it, or be colder. All this for about $30? MMMmmmmm.......I think we paid mostly for the large, unexpected, Rice portion!!!!!!!. The BEST Greek food, ever eaten, was at 'GREEK ISLANDS', in Surrey, which unfortunately, shut down, recently. I wish they would re-open with the orginal Greek Owners (even their staff came, costumed and presentable, v. professional and beautiful interior decorations)....Thx. read more

Aweful, the Greek salad was not traditional it was made with a cream sauce...the tzatziki sauce was watered down with no flavour, the chicken and lamb was dry and the pita bread wasn't toasted basically soggy and rice was flavourless and over cooked. Will not be ordering from here again. I'm used to Greek village on Scott road which is amazing. Even opa makes better Greek cuisine. read more

This is a great take-out place, the restaurant is nice and the servers are very good, but the dining area needs a face lift. The place reminds me of an old restaurant where the family is hanging out at a table a day. Ordered take out from them for the first time the other night after finding their menu on my doorstep. Called if in and got told they would have to see if they delivered to my house. I joked I sure hope so as they left a menu at my house. I contemplated cancelling and going to my usual after having the girl who answered the phone tell me I could not sub from BBQ ribs to Greek ribs with the rib and lasagna meal. I asked why and was told you can't have Greek ribs with lasagna. Should have listened to that omen. Food arrived and was eager to see how it was. Calamari was really nice and crispy. Ribs were overcooked and somewhat dehydrated. Lasagna was good but too much sauce. It is almost always the other way so not really complaint but the ratios could have been better. Very cheesy and the sauce had some zip so it saved the ribs. Lamb dinner was terrible. Lamb was way overcooked and actually hard on the outside. Way too dry and should not have been served. If it was served to me in a restaurant I probably would have sent it back. Won't likely be going back as already have a favourite place to go back to. Always worth trying something new but doubt I will try again. read more

Very quiet place, outside has been re done, but looks dark and questionable to say the least.. only one waitress on when we were there. prices are comparable, food was only average, nothing special to speak of.. Would I go back again, I live 3 blocks away, and now I drive 4 miles for my Greek if that answers your that question. read more

We have eaten at Assini once and had their take out once. Both times I can say that it was the best lasagna we have ever tasted. We had the Greek Salad only once, but it was quite good as well. We will definitely order from them again. My only recommendation would be to package the take out lasagna in separate bags so the bottom order does not have the cheese stuck to the lid ;-) Other than that, no complaints at all and pleased with the service. read more

I asked about their road lamb platter and I believe it the owner who answered and he said their food is good and he was Greek himself so I went with the impression the food would be authentic, and possibly taste good. But what he didn't say is that non of his staff are Greek, it looked like two teen girls cooking the kitchen. I did end up ordering the roast lamb dinner and prawns, and I didn't think of anything at the time, but when when we got home to eat our dinner, the lamb was under cooked and we got served mainly bone (barely any meat). I took only a couple bites and it had no taste whatsoever, the prawns were harden, the opposite of the lamb, they over cooked and burned. Ordered the baked ravioli with extra cheese for delivery. When I got it I was super disappointed. There weren't many raviolis in the pasta. And even though I paid for extra cheese...you could not even see it. Not sure if this place knows what baked raviolis with extra cheese is or they are a horrible restaurant. read more

I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews, Assinis is by far the best Greek restaurant that I have ever been to. I absolutely love this place.
