Everyone there made it as pleasant as possible, never passed judgement, or made me feel bad for not coming sooner. They supported me and said, "they were so happy I made it there". I've been to other dentists and they've attempted to get my gums numb to fill my cavity and they never could which attributed to my fear. Dr. Jones tried a different way to numb and it worked. As is to be expected, some are a little rougher than others but they always seem open to feedback if you need something done differently. Dr. Molldrem is also extremely friendly, and he is able to quickly perform exams so you don't spend too much time waiting around. The reason I've bumped my review down to 4 stars is that my family has occasionally had issues with miscommunications between the office and insurance companies regarding payment and coverage, leading to some confusion. But otherwise, we've usually had great experiences with Molldrem Family Dentistry!

Scheduled an initial intake at the Lakeville location and things went smoothly. Met with Dr. Molldrem and he was keen on everyone getting 'paid what they were owed' in the context of my insurance lowballing him. Mind you, the staff drive luxury SUVs and they have TWO locations. Several MONTHS later I have my teeth cleaning and not only could they not accommodate my allergies, they never had the intent to. Furthermore, they refused to coordinate care between me and my Medical Doctor to figure out appropriate treatment based on my Dr.'s medical orders. I asked politely to receive updates within the week regarding sussing out my treatment plan and they told me to get lost. I asked for recommendations on who else to go to if they couldn't get the job done and they told me to check with my insurance (HAH!). So here I am without any of the treatments they had agreed to help me work through. I called to file a complaint and the Eden Prairie location told me that this all had 'nothing to do with their professionalism' and that 'if I was unhappy with my care I could always find someone else'. I would say that treating me like a burden because I'm not filthy rich is a professionalism issue but whatever. Don't go here unless you love feeling awful.

I appreciate that perhaps they understand there was something amiss with this process. Update Number Two: I called this morning and asked for a call back by niw I am frustrated beyond comparison. The office closes at 5:00 so I call them yet again only to find out "the scans aren't in the system and I need to come in and start over with new scans". They will call the lab but according to Isabelle the soonest I can get the guard is Jan 10. Two month after this whole thing started. Why didn't they find this out after I called at the end of week three. When were they going to let me know? The dentist called tonight at 6:00 to let me know they couldn't find my scans. I wonder if I had not continued to call would they even know the scans had not been sent to or received by the lab, Who dropped the ball here? Update One.This is priceless. ONE of my concerns is they do not respond or call back. I posted this yesterday and now they post a reply here (on-line instead of calling me) for me to call them (I called yesterday and again today). My experiences with Dentist of Eden Prairie should be a word if caution to others. First I was charged for a cleaning that I did not have. If I had not checked the insurance form that came to me I would not have known. I had to let the insurance company know and ask for correction from Dentists of Eden Prairie. I do not know if the insurance company was reimbursed. Their explanation was a change in software. Months later on a Friday I needed a root canal and the result was terrible. I had had other root canals when I lived in Missouri - fairly easy procedure. Not with DEP. I bruised and a hard knot formed from my eye socket to my jaw. I called three times to their emergency service before I got a call back. It was a weekend was the explanation. The emergency service said the dentist would contact me within 2 hours or I should call the service again. Three call and I finally got a response. I was put on antibiotics for 10 days. It took nearly a month for the knot to completely dissipate. Then, in November I needed a new night guard. I was told it would take two to three weeks. I paid in full the day they did the scan. That was November 10. It is now December 26 and I still don't have the night guard.When I called after three weeks I was told they would call when it was in. I finally called back today and asked for the dentist to call me. Guess what - no call back. Be warned!

I scheduled what I expected to be a routine dental cleaning, but the experience ended up being…read moreconfusing and frustrating. I spent about an hour at the appointment and ultimately left without receiving any cleaning at all. After the initial exam, I was told I would need a deep cleaning instead of a standard cleaning, and that I needed to schedule a different day. When I asked if I could just proceed with a basic cleaning as I had waited a few weeks for this appointment, I was told they could do one if I "signed a waiver", after agreeing to this she changed her mind and said she "ethically" couldn't do a basic cleaning on me. To give more context, I am in early stages of perio as most people are when they age. I have no bone loss, and the majority of my "pockets" are in the 2s and 3s with some molars in the 4s and 5s. I am not categorized as someone that desperately needs dental work by far. I've had four cavities my entire life, and was told I had none at this appointment as well. I can't help but think this was somehow a money grab. The staff member was polite and professional throughout, but to be told that without agreeing to a much more expensive treatment, I wouldn't receive any cleaning at all was so strange. I wound up later being quoted about $1500 for the cleaning she said I needed. I understand wanting to provide appropriate care, but I would have appreciated clearer communication ahead of time and more flexibility in options as not everyone has dental insurance or $1500 laying around for basic dental care. I also want to mention that I was surprised to learn this clinic is part of a larger corporate group. It presents itself like a local, standalone practice, so I didn't realize the connection until the day before my appointment when they called to say I had been to one of their other locations previously and therefore didn't qualify for the new patient pricing. That part was fine, but it felt misleading since the other clinic has a completely different name and is in another city. I had no idea the two were connected--especially since I hadn't had a great experience at that prior location--so that added to the overall frustration.
