Nothing really makes you feel better about the American health system than the very first concern is how you're going to pay. What insurance you have, verifying that insurance, and then, of course, not being able to take a copy of your health visa for payment. Filling out all your information on an iPad, which you had to give them over the phone beforehand...you would think that they would have the technology to manually input a health visa,but instead they rudely demanded a large deposit instead. I've never felt so fiercely analyzed by how I was going to pay as oppossed to what I was coming there for. I've never felt so marginalized as a human. I was seen strictly as a dollar sign. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Associated Dermatologists of Berkeley has been extremely disappointing from start to finish. I had a procedure in June to remove a spot that showed malignant cells, and the stitches were removed in August. It's now December, and I am still having serious issues with the surgical site. Stitches continue to surface from my skin, sometimes coming out with pus, and I've had to remove several of them myself. These were non-dissolvable stitches that should have been fully taken out during the follow-up appointment. About two weeks after my stitches were "removed," I noticed more stitches coming through my skin. It has been painful, frustrating, and honestly pretty alarming. I have photos documenting every stitch that came out afterward. My surgery was performed by Taylor Adams. During the appointment where she checked whether all of the stitches had been removed, she didn't recognize me and said she was in the wrong room--until I had to remind her that she had performed my surgery. That alone made me question the level of care and attention to detail. During the procedure itself, the assistant helping her kept fumbling and dropping things, and there were issues getting the bleeding under control. I also made it very clear that I was worried about scarring and wanted to keep the scar as small as possible. Unfortunately, the scar I ended up with is noticeably larger than what I was told to expect. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this office. I will not be returning, and I would not send anyone I care about here. Please consider all of your options before choosing this place. read more

The actual medical practice has been excellent...but it is impossible, absolutely impossible to contact anyone via phone or their useless patient portal. I need to contact a particular person who deals with biologic prescription renewals. I even have her extension. There is no way to dial into her extension now (used to be). Am only offered a general delivery mailbox to leave a message. So damn frustrating. terrible patient service. PLUS, there is no way to call directly into the office you visit. Only have one phone number for their entire conglomerate. I am looking for another provider that can help me with my biologic. read more

I had an appointment with them a couple months ago and everything was great. It was a simple skin check and I was on my way. Fast forward six months. it's impossible to get ahold of anyone in the office. They've closed early on a few occasions and you can't leave a message. I finally got through to someone this morning named Susan and she was so incredibly rude. She told me that the hours listed on their website aren't necessarily what they go by (so why have them?). I called to tell her I made an appointment request, and she interrupted the middle of my sentence to remind me that it's just a request, and I told her that I knew that, but I was just calling to let them know I didn't need the appointment any longer and wanted to save them some time by reaching out and freeing up that spot on their calendar.... 10/10 will not be going back. read more

Showed up for my appointment only to be told that my appointment has been cancelled since the doctor was out. They did NOT call, text, or leave a voicemail. ZERO heads up. Unbelievably bad follow up and patient care after you see the dermatologist. I had a mole removed 3 weeks ago and was supposed to get my results after 2 weeks. I've called no less than 20 times and I have only spoken to one actual person who transferred me straight to someone's voicemail within 10 seconds of answering my call. I could not leave a voicemail to the medical assistant I got transferred to, the voicemail kept interrupting me and stopping me. So basically they have a perfect system where they can take your money but then don't have a portal or anything for you to view any tests, bloodwork, labs, etc. and also are quite literally unreachable into the phone. They don't have to do squat for their patients, bc unless you wanna drive there to find out a simple question.... You'll never get it answered. read more

We saw Dr. Law for my young son. She gave great advice and lots of samples for sunscreens and ointments for his eczema. On line scheduling is very easy and the front desk staff is efficient. read more

When Dr. Law asked if I had any more questions, I asked her to confirm the roughness on my palm. For that callous I was charged an extra amount on top of the office visit because she scraped it. She said she didn't know my insurance didn't cover it. Doesn't matter! I had already paid for a whole body scan, and I wonder what that includes if not answers to my questions. read more

This place is such a joke - regardless of location or ultimate goal (medical or cosmetic), each Associated Dermatologists office is horrid. My experience started over 10 years ago with them when I was struggling with scalp psoriasis. Dr. Cetner prescribed me a short term solution and told me to use for a month and then we would switch to a longer term solution. As instructed, I called the office to have the longer term solution sent to my pharmacy. I go to pick up, and the office sent the same exact script I already had. From this instance, I learned they do not listen nor provide a customer centric experience - I'm just another copay. More recently, I have struggled with adult acne. I inquired on dermatologist recommendations and somehow this place was commonly recommended. I figured maybe just Dr. Cetner is poor, and can give another provider a shot. I saw Dr. Dorman this time who is super arrogant and yet again, treats you like another copay. Wrote me a script through a very sketchy delivery service and refused to address any concerns of what could be the root cause of this sudden acne emergence when have decently clear skin throughout my life. This was the last straw with seeing an MD here. However, while waiting for that adult acne apt just mentioned, I did discover something called the "Healthy Skin Club" via a pamphlet in the waiting room. Basically a registration fee and then you are able to receive discounted facial services. Though I should have given this place a total write off after past experiences, I thought maybe they don't suck at totally everything and are decent with the cosmetic area of the business especially considering the price. Absolutely not. I called to book and specified that I don't care which esthetician I see, I would just like to visit the Berkley location. I made my apt and looked forward to it for over a week. When the time came, I left my job early to make the apt and drove all the way there, just to be told they didn't have my name listed. I showed them the confirmation text. The receptionist was then able to see that whoever took my call booked me for a doctor appointment in a totally different office. Seeing as they not only did not listen yet again, but also wasted my time, gas money and did not try to right their error, I am posting this review to warn everyone to go literally anywhere else to avoid this place. read more
