I have lived with HS for over 17 years and was very transparent with Dr. Shek and PA Elyse about my history and which treatments have failed. Unfortunately, my experience was a complete waste of time. They ignored my 17-year history and insisted on prescribing the same medications that I already told them do not work for me. It has been 5 months and I have only received a portion of the medication I need. To make matters worse, Dr. Shek actually told me I needed to apologize to Elyse because she is a PA and "doesn't know everything." As a grown adult and a patient seeking help, I should not have to apologize for a provider's lack of knowledge just to receive care. They have left me on the wayside with no follow-up and no resolution. If you want a doctor who hears you and treats you with respect, look elsewhere read more

Dr. Borkin is caring, kind and knowledgeable. I have been a patient for many years. He always makes great recommendations for preventative care and has helped me through some skin conditions. I have been going to this office for close to 20 years. I used to see one of their PA's before she left (she saved my life by catching a melanoma spot during a visit strictly about my concern of a few minor acne spots), so I then started seeing Dr. Shek. He has seen and done it all and he is absolutely amazing. I have also seen Dr. Borkin quite a few times and he caught my second melanoma thanks to routine skin checks. I never wait long to be seen. I can make an appointment for the very next week. Other derm offices make you wait weeks or months. Staff is friendly. Parking is always plentiful. A plus is that if you want cosmetic work as well, it is right across the hall from their medical office. What a blessing it is to have the same doctor helping you with the medical side of things also be the one to help with other non-medical issues with your skin. Though the dermatologist is fantastic, their costs, and method of billing is horrible! Since many times I entered this office, no one was in the waiting area. (Maybe other people are dissatisfied?) I could get cheaper "over the counter" items online and in the stores, then in this dr office! The billing, in this office, is the worst method I've seen in my entire life! I've got a bill, with no date nor of what service the cost is for! I'm not going to them, nor recommending them to anyone! (They need me more than I need them!) read more

I had a great experience with Dr Borkin and his team. The front desk team was very professional and helpful. I was taken back by an MA ahead of my appointment time and there was no delay with the provider coming in the room. I had a yearly skin exam done and Dr Borkin was very thorough. He had great professionalism and was educating me as he went along. He had some recommendations but did not pressure if it wasn't necessary. Do not see Dr. Shek! A total butcher. I had two lipomas removed from him and have horrible scarring. It's been over 2 years and people STILL ask me to this day what happened to my arm. When I went back to him to see what he could do in order to make the scarring better, he told me I'd have to pay for laser treatment and that it was MY fault I scar like that. I went to another doctor and her scar proves it's not my skin but his work. See pictures attached. read more

My daughter has been a patient with Dr. Borkin for some time now, typical teenage acne. Our experience with Dr. Borkin and the office staff has been outstanding. Onsite visits have been managed on-time and very professionally, and recent tele-visits were easy to arrange and helpful. I am a new patient and will not be returning. I waited about 30 minutes for my appointment and Dr. Ibrahim spent no more than 5 minutes with me. She was rushing me and did not care about what I've used in the past as I've had difficult skin for several years. She told the assistant to call in a prescription for Acanya and gave me a coupon for $0 copay for Acanya. However, when i went to the pharmacy this prescription was not called in and instead there was a $500 gel that was called in. I called Dermatology Associates and asked where the Acanya was and I was told it was a mistake and I should not have been prescribed that. So why was I given a coupon and why did Dr. Ibrahim ask her assistant to call it in right in front of me? They keep giving me the run around and they keep calling in different prescriptions to my pharmacy when I tell them I can't afford a $500 copay. The most recent prescription they called in is $1,000. I am so beyond frustrated. I work in the medical field and I know how important it is to listen to your patient. read more

I'm a new patient and went to Dermatology Associates to see for myself what kind of care I would receive after seeing such varying reviews. The nurses that took care of me at the beginning of my appointment were very friendly as were the front desk staff. I, however, had to wait over 30 minutes in the exam room for Dr. Ibrahim who apparently forgot about me (the nurse had no idea that I had not yet been seen when she popped in to check on me). Once the doctor came in she was friendly, quick, and thorough. I did feel slightly rushed and wasn't given any recommendations besides coming back in a year. Since I waited for awhile at the office, I myself didn't have time to dilly-dally, but had I had more concerns about my health I'm unsure of how that would have gone. All in all, I love the proximity of the office to my home and work but am open to other dermatologist offices if I find one in a year. read more

Dr. Ibrahim doesn't care nor is she thorough. Never ever going back! I'm not one to write reviews, but I don't want this to happen to anyone else. A little back story: I was recently on antibiotics for mastitis (I'm breastfeeding). Immediately after completing the course of antibiotics, I developed an extremely painful, severe, itchy rash underneath both armpits. This has never happened to me before. I have not changed anything about my diet, I have not changed deodorant, I don't have allergies, etc...nothing has been different. The only thing different has been antibiotics. I saw Dr. Ibrahim on Wed, 12/30/15 after making an appointment that same morning. I was so desperate! I was pleased they could get me in right away. I waited for a very short time, then I was taken back to a room. I then waited for at least 30 min for Dr. Ibrahim. She asked me a few questions and barely glanced at my armpits before writing a script for a super potent topical steroid cream. One she warned me may or may not be safe if I was breastfeeding. I mentioned that the only thing different with my body has been a recent course of antibiotics and she just brushed it off, and told me the rash just must have been something I wore. Again, I'm not allergic to anything, and have not worn anything new. My consult with the doc was all of 5 min and that was it. She seemed like she had something better to be doing, and did not seem at all sympathetic. I came home still wondering if it could really have been something I wore?! Upon a TON of research and consulting with a doc, I'm 100% certain my rash was stemming from antibiotic use. I knew antibiotic use could result in a yeast infection, but I never knew it could appear on your body in the form of a rash. Well it can, especially in places that can be moist like armpits. The technical term is called candida, and steroids may not even be helpful at all, but worse. Now I'm treating it topically with anti-fungal creams and natural soothing remedies as well. I'm working on restoring the good bacteria in my gut with lots of probiotics. Candida is much more common than you might think, so if you find yourself with a mysterious rash, it's worth looking into. Dr. Ibrahim could have figured this out with just a bit more time, care, and research. It really was not a hard diagnosis to get to. Sorry for the LONG review, but feel like it was warranted. read more
