We…read morelearned that chimney companies are knowledgeable about the inside of chimneys, but maybe aren't the best for the outside of a chimney - i.e., the masonry part. So we called 2 masonry companies and both were unreliable (didn't come out for the estimate when promised, quoted us exorbitant prices and then THEY didn't even follow up with us). Then I did hardcore sleuthing and called Dan's Custom Brickwork because they had positive ratings on Yelp, Google, and Angie's List. When I called, they scheduled a next-day appointment for an estimate in a 30-minute window (i.e., 'Dan will be there between 2:30 and 3 o'clock tomorrow') and HE WAS. That's awesome. He was super friendly and a straight shooter. He was honest about what was NEEDED and what would be IDEAL beyond what was immediately necessary. He quoted me cheaper than the other masonry companies, but that's NOT why I went with Dan. I went with them because I trusted him since he showed up, was open and honest about my options, and he was very knowledgeable (been doing this 31 years). I got an emailed written estimate the next day, which I signed and returned. At the beginning of the next week, John and Francisco did the job across two days. They were very professional and friendly and did a really excellent job. I'm very thankful for Dan, John, and Francisco and the great work they did. I liked them so much, that I'm having Dan's Custom Brickwork rip out my back deck and laying concrete for my patio. Dan was very honest about patio options and was willing to work with me regarding timing, helping out with other stuff, etc. He's really great. My neighbor said he's thinking of replacing concrete slabs in his driveway, and I recommended Dan's Custom Brickwork. And that's what I'm doing here: If you need masonry or concrete work done, give them a call for an estimate. You may be just as impressed with them as I have been.

We hired this company for a 2nd story addition and my opinion is they were negligent in their…read morebuilding practices and then became very unprofessional. 2/3rds into tearing our roof off they dishonestly price gouged and charged us an additional $21,000 for something. It's so egregious that we will report it! After the roof was removed they caused the loss of our entire home below the addition by not properly protecting it. After the massive $100,000+ loss they got the new 2nd story up and dried in but continued to ignore our request to repair water leaks getting into the home. We contacted them on at least 6 occasions about the leaks and it was not repaired and is still not repaired. After almost 2 months we still have ongoing leaks. Unfortunately I had to contact the city and have them intervene and force the builder to fix things that they would not even reply to. They also built things in the wrong spot and ignored our selections. They installed the wrong window and tried to leave it that way and then when they finally fixed it they installed the wrong size in the wrong spot. It didn't even match the agreed elevation plan. When it was brought to their attention yet again that they made a mistake we were told they would only correct it if we paid them $2400! Unfortunately I had to go buy the correct window at my expense. I had remove and install it correctly myself. Then they stole my old window and all my left over material I paid for on my house project. They are still currently working on our home but will not be doing any further work for the next phase. If you are considering hiring this company contact me and I'll be happy to share with you in detail what's happened and our experience. My experience is they will sell you on their work and contract and then after they start they will tell you they came across a problem and they will need to write up a change order. They will take liberties by choosing selections you didn't approve. In our case they installed windows and a front door without even asking or disclosing they were doing it. How can you just pick a persons front door without even asking? I had to go buy another door and install it myself at my expense ! They also damaged over $1000 of our personal property that was no where near the work area and refuse to replace it. Buyer beware because for us these change orders are excessive in price compared to the industry standard and they don't seem to care if they damage your personal property! Our feeling and experience is also that they will try very hard to not reply to text or emails and will instead want only verbal communication. Verbal communication is great but even with that they make error after error. My opinion is they only want verbal because if it's in writing they can't get out of it but if it's only verbal there is no record of their conversations with us. After what I saw as an incompetent act by not protecting our home I began to document everything with them and I was asking for official written replies to emails and text. They then called me and asked why I was insisting on having everything in writing and wanting email replies. I told them so it's documented incase they try to do us wrong. After that we would get very little in written responses and have been largely ignored. . I come from a family of builders and have a decent amount of knowledge on how things are supposed to be built. If I didn't have that knowledge my option is we would have an addition that was not well built and would cause us a lot of issues in the future including structural. If you do not have building knowledge my opinion is to stay far away from this company. Even if you do I would not recommend them. Also if you meet them you might get the impression that TJ does actual construction work on the jobs. For our project our experience is the son TJ only does the business end of the company's business. The father Tim is the builder and his son just puts in change orders and draw request. We have not seen TJ one time since the day we signed the contract. It's my understanding that Tim Sr is not a licensed builder!

We had recently purchased the house and it…read morewas clear the previous owners did minimal maintenance on the asphalt driveway- there were many cracks and it just looked bad. We were new to having an asphalt driveway, so I didn't realize there was an asphalt 'season'. Anthony's Asphalt was patient in answering all of my questions and were able to fit us into their schedule before the season was over. They did a great job filling all the cracks and seal coating the driveway. I called again this year to fill a couple of new small cracks and for another sealcoat. They came out, provided a quote and I mailed back the contract. I didn't need to be home to get the quote or get the work completed, so that made the process so much easier. Will be using them for all our future asphalt maintenance needs.

I really wanted to give this business a phenomenal review, but after taking time to reflect on my experience, I unfortunately cannot. My 3 star explanation follows: 1st Star - the owner Scott Garrett comes out to give you an estimate. He is personable and does a thorough job. The estimate is also itemized, so you can see exactly what you are being charged for. This felt much more honest than having an arbitrary number handed to you. 2nd Star - we have spent approximately 40K on landscaping with Garrett over the last few years and most of the work has been stellar. In July 2019 we had a major project done to our driveway where it was extended approximately 5.5 feet on both sides with brick pavers. We have a large driveway and the job turned out fantastic. They also offer a lifetime warranty on the brick work for as long as we own our home. They stand by their brick work and that says a lot. 3rd Star - the crews sent were great. They were professional, worked diligently from 8 am - 5 pm, cleaned up every day, and did a wonderful job. No loud music, no littering, no sloppiness etc. Very respectful and hard working. Why I removed 2 Stars: 1st Star Removed - the large driveway project literally started an entire year after it was supposed to. It went from starting in July 2018 to being pushed back until July 2019. Garrett initially ordered different brick pavers from a company other than the one my husband and I signed off on. It was not an issue to get the original / correct pavers, but it pushed the job back. Other factors- not on our part, also kept pushing the job. We were patient and understanding, however it was an inconvenience (trips postponed, multiple parties scheduled around when the job was supposed to be completed but hadn't even begun, etc). 2nd Star Removed - the large driveway project took longer than what they estimated and as a result a smaller job that was part of the bill was completed in a sub par manner. We were supposed to have a "decorative boulder wall" created near one corner of our house, and what we received was not my idea of a boulder wall. We received approximately 10 rocks, sized 12" tall X 12-15" wide, set down around an already cleaned, existing bed, with mulch tossed on top. We were charged $1495 for something that truthfully, I could have done myself in an hours time (I already had the bed weeded, cleaned and prepped). I feel that since the main driveway project went over the time they estimated it would take, the "decorative boulder wall" was disregarded and we were shortchanged on it. It was such an upsetting way to end the working relationship I thought I had cultivated with Garrett. In the end, I feel that being patient and understanding didn't fare well and that being firm and more assertive would have yielded better results.

Because we live in an area with an HOA, Mrs Garrett would not agree to no spraying on my property or tell me when spraying is scheduled. She said that they will spray chemicals because the contract is with HOA. I explained to her that the area in question is not property of HOA, but my property and she became increasingly rude. Ecologically nasty and interpersonally.... I'm still shocked.
