I had hope that things would continue to improve. There have been multiple incidents where tenants allow their pets to urinate and defecate in the elevators and leave it there for extended periods. With the most recent being today, 7/5/26. Combined with the persistent cigarette smoke, the smell in the elevators and hallways is disgusting and unacceptable. The common areas often feel unsanitary and poorly maintained. To make matters worse, one of the elevators was out of service for several weeks. Now that it has supposedly been repaired, the lobby button still doesn't work properly. Basic amenities and cleanliness should not be ongoing issues. There also appears to be little control over who enters the property. The resident lounge is frequently rented for parties that appear to be unsupervised, with guests running through the lobby and outside the building while people continuously come and go. On one occasion, an individual who appeared to be under the influence of crack attempted to access the building and later overdosed in front of the property. I know this occurred because I personally had to call the police and an ambulance. Incidents like these raise serious concerns about security and resident safety, which has always been ignored. These ongoing issues have ultimately led me to decide not to renew my lease. Despite the declining conditions and recurring maintenance and security problems, rents continue to increase by hundreds of dollars, and upper management has been unresponsive to residents' concerns. My final advice is that I would NOT recommend renting at Kanso Silver Spring. There are much better properties in the area where you can receive better value, better management, and a more comfortable living experience for the rent you pay.

Do. Not. Move. Here. If you notice a large amount of five star reviews, that is because there is an incentive program for doing so. You've been warned! EDIT: I also forgot another terrible fact of living here. Pet owners will DAILY leave dog pee/poop on the elevators and in the common spaces, and the building at best will clean it up once a day. Same gross carpet remains, I had to request they shampoo it the first time. Our house is like a swamp when it rains. The thermostat is showing 70% humidity. The noise is unbearable and our baby can not only sleep but had developed a bad cough. We haven't been offered a different apartment or any other accommodations. It's miserable. The handle to the door to the garage always breaks, and there's not an easy way to get to the garage. The carpet was ripped to shreds when we moved in. We hear loud noises whenever ANY neighbor flushes the toilet. That's just a small part of it. The location is decent, but Route 1 traffic is VERY heavy. Get used to sirens, etc. Mostly the other residents are students, or young professionals and keep to themselves. However, some are plain trashy (see pic of note left on my car after accidentally parking in a reserved spot my first week here, they aren't well marked spots). People drive like wild banshees in the garage and then blast music at the gym that can be heard all the way into apartments down the hall. At all hours folks drop heavy weights. Annoying if you're on that floor. There are also VERY wild parties in the common area that residents rent. There is also an issue since there's no concierge and after 6 the leasing office is gone. Packages are hard to get delivered, including meal delivery services (First World Problems, I know). For the price you pay, the construction should be a lot better

I hear what sounds like a TV from somewhere sometimes but if I am trying to read or otherwise relax, I just play white noise on my speaker & I'm good. Maintenance is extremely prompt & I love having an in unit washer & dryer. I don't participate in all of the activities, but I do enjoy the book club. We need management to help us promote it more as a lot of our members moved away. Overall, I am happy about my choice.

Last week, I was at the desk when an Uber Eats delivery came in close to 9:30 pm. The delivery person was upset that Danielle would not allow her to take the food upstairs. It is Central's policy that delivery agents are not allowed to go upstairs after 8:00 pm. Though Danielle called the resident and offered to take the food to the apartment herself, the delivery person still demanded to take it upstairs. The delivery person called Danielle names, belittled her role, raised her voice, recorded us, and refused to leave the premises. Through it all, Danielle remained calm, kept her voice at the same low conversational tone, and repeated the solutions she initially offered regarding the food delivery. I was impressed with Danielle's response to the aggression. This went on for about 30 minutes until the delivery person decided to leave. Before and after the delivery person, Danielle was also trying to keep the front doors closed. One of the doors did not close once opened. To prevent non-residents from entering, she tried to get residents to use the other door. Despite putting up signs, the residents kept leaving the door open. She got up to close it several times in between responding to residents seeking assistance all over the building. She eventually resolved the door situation by putting a flower pot to block the malfunctioning door. She maintained vigilance via the cameras and greeted everyone who entered the building, allowing her eyes to rest on each face. It was a noisy and chaotic night. I was both stressed and concerned for her safety. She is also brave! I have witnessed her in the past go into the garage after 11:00 pm to evacuate a man who snuck behind the second gate to sit there. I walked with her before going home because I was concerned that he would get aggressive. He did not. I told her that she is brave to have planned to walk out there alone with no one else around. I also praised her for her endurance throughout the chaos.

I lived at Lenox Park for two years and I have to say the overall experience was generally…read morepleasant. Elizabeth, the property manager, was always easy to get in contact with, reasonable, and willing to talk through problems or concerns. I can't really say the same for all the leasing agents but I also rarely had to interact with them at all. I imagine that Elizabeth ends up having to clean up their messes a lot. Location wise you can't beat it. I was working as a federal contractor and could get to the national mall within 20 minutes on the metro from the stop across the street. Tons of great food options and a Giant and CVS within a block really added to the walkability of the location. I cut my car usage by 3/4th in the two years I live here, saving me a lot of money on insurance and maintenance. The parking garage is convenient, if pricey, but Lenox Park/Bernstein doesn't own the garage so I can't hold the cost or the maintenance of the garage against them. Colonial Parking needs to sink some money into the gates, as they would frequently stop working during storms. The building itself is a few decades old, so it comes with all the things expected. They were regularly doing things like replacing carpets in communal hallways, painting, repairing elevators, etc. So while there are things that need attention, I would say it appeared that it is a project they are continually working on, which is all you can do in order to maintain a building. Now the negatives, which is really only two IMO. This building would regularly experience a rash of bug infestation. You wouldn't see them at all for a few months and then suddenly they would be everywhere. They changed the pest control during my time there and that did appear to help a little, but I ended up having to spend a good bit of money keeping fresh bait stations around my unit to fully address catching roaches crawling into corners anytime I turned on a light. I had heard other residences experience mice issues, but I never saw a single one inside the building/parking garage in the two years I was a resident. I'm not saying it isn't possible and you will definitely see them running around the bus station across the street but I consider that a part of city living. The other negative is the elevators. They have four that go into the resident area and two for the parking garage. They were in the middle of upgrading them when I first moved in and that took almost a full year to complete after I arrived. This meant frequently one or more resident elevators would be down, but I thought this would resolve itself after the upgrades. Unfortunately that was not the case and it got worse after the fact. The elevators are constantly beeping with communication errors, and it seemed like there was always at least one not working and frequently all four resident elevators would go down. This wasn't a huge headache for me, I was on the 7th floor and can walk up 7 flights of stairs with no issue, but I could imagine that's really frustrating for people, on say, the 17th floor! We would literally have residents abandon groceries at the communal space because they didn't/couldn't carrying them up the stairs. Ultimately I didn't want to leave Lenox Park, but I was laid off and ended up needing to relocate for my new job. I would have stayed at Lenox Park if I could.

Currently the gym equipment is old, outdated, and in some cases rusty. The carpet in my unit is awful and they won't replace it. They didn't even come look at it when I asked that it be replaced. My locked bike got stolen from the "secure" bike area. The first floor smells terrible. There are not enough parking spaces for all residents, and I was lied to when I first moved in about how long I would be on the waitlist to get a space. Everything in the apartment is cheap and has not been updated. Handles fall off the wall, off the bathroom doors, off the bathroom sink, etc and even though maintenance will come, their fixes only last for about 2 weeks because everything is so cheap. The concierge staff are all very nice and helpful! Bob the leasing agent is also wonderful and a good person to the core. They are the best thing about this place and what I will miss. The pool area is really nice and if you can get an apartment with a balcony it is nice to sit out there. These benefits don't outweigh the greatly increasing number of downsides anymore.
