She showed me a couple places I wasn't wild about but then we walked to the other end of the neighborhood to check out one that wasn't on the market yet due to renovations. We met the building owner that day. I signed a lease soon after, and she was there helping throughout the entire process! Highly recommended!

I met with Jenny during a recent apartment search, which was in the first week of the month (specifically, we met on the 3rd). I was seeking an apartment for the following month. After showing me one apartment that I didn't love, I felt like she pressured me to like it more -- telling me how perfect the landlords were, how I wouldn't find anything else like it, harping on features that ultimately didn't matter to me. It was incredibly awkward, and I found myself repeating that it's simply a matter of preference. It turned out that this was one of two apartments she had available at the time; the other was in a completely different location than where I had wanted. After this, she told me that I had started my search for an apartment too late, and that most apartments for the following month were already rented by now. As someone that was needing to find an apartment during the busy summer season, this was a stressful thing to hear. I ended up quickly finding an apartment with the next broker I met with. More importantly, though, were the vast number of apartments that became available throughout the week and the month. (Of course it wasn't too late to find a place on the 3rd, how could I have believed this?) While I don't like writing negative reviews of people in the neighborhood, I'm posting this in hopes that anyone with a similar experience will take it with a grain of salt. There are so many apartments in Astoria and in NYC overall. Don't let anyone rush your search. An apartment is a personal and important decision. And most importantly: your options are not constrained, regardless of what you're told.

We made the appointment for 4:15pm at 11am this morning. In less than 5 hours to view the apartment, it increased $100 dollars. I thought it may have been an error. No word from Spito Maravegias. After viewing the apartment, I ask for an application. Spiro Maravegias response was "this is the thing" and gave a huff as Spiro Maravegias asked "what is your credit score" as if he premeditated a disappointment. I was ten points below. Spiro Maravegias asked did we spoke about it, "No we did not" was my reply. Nor was it in the description. Spiro Maravegias gave a sad voice and said "well sorry". I dismissed myself by saying have a good day feeling utterly insane for coming. Totally fine. But he didn't bother to say; he would get back in touch if there are other opportunities, if anything comes up, sole guarantee or whatever its called. etc. Why would you invite someone to the viewing without that information. ( Secondly, did you raise the asking price LAST MINUTE, that was beyond strange). Photos for proof below that it was changed in a matter of an hour or so. Better communication and create a better approach when you assume something is up not to your standards.

This is a challenging review to write because i was working with an agent on a set of particular…read moreapartments of interest, and things just didn't get off to a smooth start. I decided to be patient and thought maybe the person just needed a few moments to collect themselves and get it together. We all have those days and sometimes we just need some fresh air or a cup of coffee to really get back in the "professional zone". So I was really giving this person the benefit of the doubt, and didn't voice my concerns out of common courtesy. It was so hard when my original review was going to be 3/4 stars prior to all the hiccups i experienced, but I decided it was best to be honest with my experience and go with a 1 star rating/review. It wouldn't be fair to me, and it wouldn't be fair to any future potential prospects to go through a similar experience. To be clear about my experiences, the agent i was working with came off extremely unprofessional and even after providing the additional time and my stance on exactly what i was looking for, the person still failed to deliver. I am not sure if someone like this could ever be saved because it is apparent this person has been operating like this for some time now (over a decade), and we all know people seldom ever change. I don't think the bad habits this agent exhibits will ever change. At the end of the day, i was just in shock the person wanted 50% of the security deposit (their commission) for work that was barely performed. I understand the agent's primary client is the owner/developer who owns the empty unit that has to be filled. I totally get that, and that makes me a secondary client, but i am paying you tons of money (50% of the security deposit) to do something so basic as being a tour guide, i expect nothing but a stellar performance. In addition, with what i am paying out of pocket, i expect the agent to treat me as a competing primary client. The person failed to deliver on something so basic. It is similar to an Amazon employee delivering groceries and messing that up. How basic can it be to take grocery items from location A and drop it off at location B? Anyone with a junior high school diploma can do it. No one is asking anyone for their college thesis, or to write a dissertation, or to find a cure for cancer. Just asking for someone to be a simple tour guide and get 50% commission off of something so simple. I would have so much respect for the agent if they were upfront and said: Look, I don't want to do any work but I want 50% commission. I want to do the least amount of work humanly possible. I totally get it. I understand brutal honesty and respect that. It is appreciated, but it didn't even get that far. The picture the agent posted on Yelp that has the caption: THE SKYS THE LIMIT truly kills me. Clearly, the agent's customer service skills didn't have the same outlook because it was the furthest thing from reaching the sky. It was just below F grade level customer service. Just disappointing to see someone screw up on the basics, and i won't be utilizing their services again. The agent must be closing tons of sales in this pandemic and cashing in on 25K plus a month for me to receive unprofessional treatment. A word of advice: PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

Friendly courtesy staff that do all the paper work which includes taking pics of apt , listing all specifications, price for rent per month , etc. I had a few request , no pets , no smoker and no sublets to others and they found me the perfect tenant in 3 days . Would not hesitate to use Astoria realty again for finding me good tenants when one of my apts become available.
