Amazing! My parents and I planned my Sweet 16 here and it was a night to remember. The food was good, but we had to ask them to season it a little more before the event. I will say that when we cut the cake, the servers took the cake slices off the table before the guests could come back from the dance floor. Tony, the event coordinator, was incredibly prompt and efficient--every email was answered quickly, and any assistance I needed was handled with care and speed. When the original room turned out to be too small in person, we upgraded to the Imperial Room, which was twice the size and absolutely perfect. This place is extremely dated. When you walk in the whole place is dimly lit and there is that old world cigarette smell lingering in the never washed carpets. The food was absolutely terrible. Can we say flavorless, cold, and tastes like frozen/microwaved food. The service was also terrible. While there, server caused a woman to spill her red wine on my suit. No help to clean up, no apology. The main ballroom dining hall was also dated. Floors so dull they look like a worn out gym floor. The Caesar salad tasted sour and the salmon was extremely dry. So dry that it made the au gratin potatoes look like gold. You can tell that none of the food is freshly made, much of it has to be pre made and reheated in a microwave. I hosted my son's baptism here and had nothing but the best experience. It all started with an open house I attended at Astoria World Manor, the rest is history. I had the best person/rep (Vicente) helping me with my reservation/booking. Vicente was very patient, kind, and very easy to work with to help make my son's day special. Having an event for 110 people is not easy but Vicente made the planning stress free. Up until the very last day before the event, he was patient with me and made necessary last minute arrangements to my floor plan. The day of the event, Angie, was an absolute delight to work with. As soon as I walked into the room (Regency) she greeted me and my husband, and asked about the schedule for the event (buffet time and cake time) Angie also told us that if we needed anything, not to hesitate asking her. The food was great! And of course, the open bar was a delight. Overall, and after all the stress of planning, I can honestly say that Astoria World Manor made my family's event a day to remember. From the outside this place doesn't seem as big as it is. but once you walk in you're greeted with a huge area that holds a grand piano and walls of mirrors that are great for photos. The function I attended was in 2F which is a nice size ballroom right by the restrooms. This place is nice but definitely could use some updating. Decor is dated. The ladies restroom is nice, in a way. So there's a lot of mirrors and a good number of stalls that were separated from a vanity area. But the tiles were cracked and a really old ugly shade of pink. Definitely needs some TLC. The food was ok. We were served buffet style and there was baked ziti, Italian sausage, chicken, and pork rib tips and a seafood pasta. No rice or veggie option (only a green salad.) There was also a fruit platter and bread. I didn't stay for dessert so I can't comment on that but I heard it was ok. This wasn't a wedding it was a company holiday party so the desserts were cookies and pastries from what I saw before I left. Oh, there's no parking lot, you have to find street parking. I overheard someone say there's valet available if you book it with your package, but you'd have to verify with the venue about that. I had to park 2 blocks away. But as a New Yorker I'm used to having to find parking and walk anyway. Overall, this place is nice... just really really needs some decor updating. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Astoria World Manor, considering the circumstances. I called to plan a Repass for my dad, who had just passed away. Gianny Guzman reached out to me and was able to quickly provide a proposal for the event within minutes. My family and I went to meet her to finalize everything and Gianny was incredibly comforting, understanding, kind and helpful throughout the process. I have to say that not many people were compassionate and sympathetic to my family and I, during this difficult time. But Gianny was! The event took place a couple of days after meeting Gianny, and although we only planned for 100 people, almost double the amount of family members showed up--which shows how loved my father was. Gianny was accommodating and took action immediately, placing more tables, chairs and requesting more food from the kitchen. The event went smoothly, which was a big help during a time of grievance. The food and attention from all staff was also very good. I would recommend Astoria World Manor for any event needed, but mostly, I would highly recommend Gianny Guzman as your event manager. She was the best and if I ever needed to plan another event, I would definitely go back to her. You should too, and you will not regret it! read more

[656] Visited this HUGE venue for a wedding. It was easy to get to from the Highway. We arrived early so we were able to snag a free off street parking space. The parking lot ground was tough to navigate since it had a ton of pot holes. When I say the venue was HUGE I mean HUGE. Our party was on the second floor and I counted 6 party rooms and it looked like all were filled on a Saturday evening. The first floor had at least 4 party rooms. The room we were in was a decent size and very pretty with the huge chandeliers. They had two rolling bars came in the room through the night. Very smart as the venue is able to use the main space for a table. The food was buffet style and was served in a back room which was separate from the main room. It was ok but didn't eat much because it was room temperature. I really enjoyed the fruit bar section. The dancefloor was huge. The bad part about having so many rooms is that when our room had mellow/quiet music due to everyone eating then you can hear the boom boom from next door. I hosted my daughters Sweet 16 party here!! What can I say! Everything was PERFECT!!! Tony the GM and Evan the Event manager ROCK! They were super accommodating! Angie my maitre d was super sweet , was super on top of her game , all the courses came in perfect timing. Nothing was rushed, she was so sweet she even made a plate for my daughter the guest of honour cause she knew she wouldn't have time to eat! The food was delicious . Why would you ask I'm out of 1600.00 Dollars From a photographer that Tony Shin recommended he told me he was a friend of his from Las Vegas that came to New York to continue his profession Tony Shin even interpreted because he was Korean and spoke very little English. When the time came everything was perfect took hundreds of pictures couldn't be happier Tony gave me an usb computer memory stick and asked me to pick the photos I wanted To put on the album did what I was told And returned the chip back to Tony Was told by him he will get back to me Once it's complete. Till this date have not heard one word from Mr. Shin and this happened on December of 2019 I could understand that it was just before Covid came into our world but not a single explanation, called the office on several occasions was told to email him and that she would relay the message I emailed several times to no response called to no response So I guess I was left holding the bag Can't take to court had nothing in writing At least the respect of giving me an explanation but nothing from Mr. Shin. Hey I had a holiday party this pass December 7, 2018 at the Astoria World Manor. I know this review is long over due. Meeting: We had no problem setting up our initial meeting. At this meeting we was taking on a detailed tour, given price list, informed of payment plan, parking, transportation, theme colors and food tasting dates. Payment: I chose to pay my bill via a payment plan which was very convenient. I was not hassled with any notifications of Payment requests etc. I paid with both cash and debit. Food Tasting/Menu selection: I wasn't able to attend the tasting so I sent someone in my place. There was no problem with someone stepping in for me. There was also additional slots for others to attend for a small fee. Large menu selection. Ballrooms/Facilities:Nice rooms of different varieties of sizes. I feel some updating is needed in the photo room, changing rooms and carpets. Food/Drinks: Was just okay to me. Some things I felt could have been warmer. I guess my biggest problem was most things I would not have selected for the menu. (That's my fault)Some guest ate the food. The cake offered by them was Beautiful. Now the drinks .... they was alright. I did not like we had to keep explaining how drinks should be made. But for the most part my guest was ok. We had 1 rolling bar that did not roll anywhere. My guest had to line up for their drinks. Parking: Did not like the fact that many of my guests/ myself included was told there was no more parking spaces in their parking lot (parking included). I was disappointed but understood it was a first come, first serve kind of thing until I happen to look in my rearview mirror and see cars allowed entry into the parking lot seconds after I was told there was no space. I went right around the block and the same guy that told us there was no more parks previously was still there. I started my conversation with I just saw two car go in and was immediately cut off and allow entry. SMH... 1 star deducted. Do you know how hard it is to find a park over there. Customer Service: the staff was great from start to finish with the exception of one female. She was a bartender and the lady who cut the cake. She was rude and acted as if she did not want to be there. The guest avoided her and I did not appreciate the way she butchered cutting the cake. My sentiment is if you are not a people person choose a different profession. DJ: We provided our own DJ and there was not problems with equipment, hook up/down time. Hubby and I came here for my girlfriend's dance performance. Parking was horrible. The streets are very difficult to maneuver because there's constant traffic and no room to turn around without causing a backup, even though that didn't stop some people. The venue has parking but they have so many events on the same day that you're not guaranteed because they definitely don't have enough parking for all who may visit. We ended up parking down a small residential street that was equally tight and then walking a few blocks back up to the venue. Twenty minutes of a parking spot search did not start off the day on a happy note. Once inside, we climbed the steps and the room holding the event was pretty grand. They had a few bars set up on either side of the room and we didn't have to wait long. The bartenders served heavy pours which is always a good thing. There was a buffet included and that was in an adjacent sun room but was nicely organized so that the lines kept moving on either side because it was a very large event with a lot of people. Unfortunately, the food left mush to be desired. Most of the meat was tough and not seasoned well. Ugh. I don't think I would want to come back to this venue. It's nice but it was a hassle. read more

Ok let me be clear. The 2 stars are for the exceptional service. The staff is courteous, nice, personable, everything you want when attending an event at any location. Came here for a sweet 16. Nice fun event. Decor was nice. All that good stuff. Why then only 2 stars? Well fact is I felt like 0 stars after dinner. First the appetizers. Which were so-so at best. A few microwaved items. Dry most likely frozen shrimp. Dry chicken bites some of which were cold inside. But hey. It's appetizers. I can give it a pass. Besides the little crab balls saved the day. But then dinner. And that's where it's unforgivable. Fried chicken...... blah Fried rice....... tasted like chopped onions Pepper steak (maybe).... couldn't even look st it Fried Calamari.... so dry and old if you throw it it's a weapon Pasta Alfredo... taste like smoke. Baked ziti.... taste like they threw sugar in it. Chicken teriyaki..... just no. Literally at our entire table no one finished a meal. I know I def couldn't. I went back for some ritz crackers and cheese and thank god at least those weren't old or stale. So that was dinner. Moral of the story. FIRE THE CHEF. Or at least buy some fresh ingredients to cook with. I don't know what the cost of this event was.... but I would be pisssseedd. Gotta do better. Or if you are invited to an event here. I was at a Gala last night for an award ceremony for members of a Sorority & a Fraternity & scholarship winners. We were told that there is parking however, when we arrived the parking sign did not indicate that it was specifically for the Manor. It looks like a parking garage sign so we passed it. The inside is beautiful with beautiful chandeliers but in the dim light I could see the carpets are in dire need of cleaning or replacement. In the second floor ladies room there is a large crack in the tile floor about five feet long which could easily be doctored up with some resin & paint. The most disappointing part of the evening was the food. Steaks were over cooked. The mashed potatoes were dry. The gravy was put on the steak not on the mashed potatoes. Who puts gravy on steak? The vegetables were also over cooked and had no seasoning at all! Though the wait staff was courteous they were inconsistent . Appetizer dishes were not removed as needed but were removed over an hour after people had finished eating. Soup bowls were used for salad and before the food was served some dishes and glasses were removed from the table while other place settings were left. For instance, one waiter removed only half of the wine glasses from the table and left the other ones on the table. Appetizers & drinks were provided throughout the speeches so no one was starving but dinner was not served until 9pm. The Gala started at 7pm. I left my food and didn't stay for dessert. read more

It has potential but as of right now the way it is-it sucks. If you're looking to save some money on a wedding/ party, don't. Spend the extra cash and throw a party the correct way. They were literally microwave appetizers. Dinner was buffet style. Let's just say the salad was the best part. All of the food tasted like it had been microwaved and there wasn't much variety. Food had a weird after taste. Food was overall: disappointing. I regretted not eating at my house before I left. I left my whole plate of food. Service: Service was okay. We had a really young server. There were water buckets left on the table and ice buckets left on the table as well( our server had to keep refilling the ice because it kept melting) Tables were not bused until the end, and they forgot to serve coffee w the cake. I'm not sure how much it cost to book an event here. I want to say, you get what you pay for. This venue is dingy, dirty chairs, rugs and curtains. Chipped and scratched, old dinner plates and the air conditioning was horrifying...aka not working efficiently. In the women's dressing room the air conditioning was not working at all! I went downstairs to the main office , which was so clean and air conditioned efficiently. It seems as if it is not part of the actual venue.! I complained and it was received respectfully. The bathroom was presentable. The food was cold and not tasty. Eggplant undercooked Beef and onions in gravy unable to capture what it tastes of, not beef. Calamari, cold and chewy! Rice and peas, cold. Fried chicken was both flavorless and cold. Water on table warm. Ice on table , melted. I was drinking that ice water. The soda, flat and warm. The cheese and fruit platter? Excellent! The waitresses and the waiters did an excellent job of picking up the table adequately..,. Astoria World Manor is located a short walk from the N/Q line. It was probably built in the late 60's or 70's, as the facade and architecture are reminiscent of the Flushing World's Fair Park built in 1964 with its futuristic details, penchant for gold and shiny glass. It sticks out of the neighborhood, which is quiet and lined with parking lots, small neighborhood shops, and offices. Inside is a bit similar, with gold and more glass and enough mirrors to humor the closet narcissist at every turn. AWM has multiple wedding banquet rooms, potentially having up to four weddings at a time (the odds of that are very unlikely though). AWM is two floors, with a small back elevator to comply with ADA requirements, but otherwise isn't used. Each wedding usually has the option of reserving one room for cocktails and one for the banquet. Fiance and I toured the Ballrom and the Astoria room, which were connected by a sky lit Atrium for cocktails. The rooms had full hardwood floors, which definitely showed some wear (but who would see it in a dark room)? Each had a separate maroon colored "stage" which elevated the head table and was removable in one room but not the other. The decor was a little fluffy - ruffles and drapes in pink and bronze, white tulle. More gold and mirrors. We also looked at the "chapel," which was located in the basement. It was dimly lit, narrow, and the ceilings were very low. The walls were baby blue and there was a lot of silk flowers and vines. The "photo studio" is the same, with silk flowers, a painted sky background, and even a tiny gurgling fountain. The website is outdated and hard to navigate, but they do a decent job of explaining all the different rooms they had. The photos are not the best quality, but they'll do if you just want to look. That all said, our meeting with the general manager went really well. I had emailed two days before to set up an appointment with a banquet manager, was assured I didn't need one, and that I could walk in anytime. That was definitely nice and we visited two days later. The general manager was on duty that Sunday morning. After we filled out an initial questionaire about what we needed, we walked around and asked questions. Compared to some others we have met, Ike was really really kind. He was straightforward, gentle, and friendly. He didn't criticize my list of questions and actually seemed appalled that there would ever be hidden charges or fees. The menu is a bit sparse compared to other venues, but it includes cake and the open bar and all the fees. The lack of choices is made up for in the price point, which is amazingly affordable. Considering how large the hall is and that you could do everything all here, its a good option for those on a tight budget. And I like the people a lot. One parting note - I've received at least 5 phone calls with vendors associated with AWM even though I didn't book with them. I'd appreciate a little more privacy with my information, especially since I'm already being spammed left and right. I've been to events at the Astoria World Manor twice. Most recently, my organization held a banquet there. We paid for an open bar, which turns out wasn't an actual bar, but a bar cart worked by a single bartender. His mixology skills were subpar. All of the drinks I had were way too sweet and I ended up feeling nauseous just from the high sugar content. He also disappeared at some point and it was just the cart in the middle of our floor. There are several party halls, so be ready to run into others when going to the bathroom, which is shared on the floor. I've been to other banquet halls in Queens that have better drink service, nicer bathrooms, and nicer ambiance overall. The stairs are a decent place to take photos, but the lighting is pretty bad and the decor isn't very modern. The venue is manageable for small scale events, such as banquets, or sweet sixteens, but I would never hold something larger like a wedding here, unless it was one I already planned on divorcing. read more

When we got our food , some were cold and some of the table guest had to wait way too long for there food . And when you finally got it , it was cold ! Very unprofessional . They forgot orders and ask constantly what we ordered . The only GOOD thing was the CAKE . The food wasn't as HORRIBLE but just the fact that some were cold and half of our table were served . We had our Wedding Reception in The Grand Ballroom at Astoria World Manor on June 3 2018. Esther was our wedding planner, she did a wonderful job putting everything together, she is such an amazing woman to work with. Our reception was PERFECT, just the way we wanted it: food was excellent, decorations were fancy, our wedding cake was delicious, overall everything went great. The only thing need to improve is, the flower pots infront of the Hall need to repaint. I would recommend Astoria World Manor and most of all, request Esther as your event planner, with her the process will be stress free and the event will be PERFECT. read more

The two stars are only for their grand ballroom on the top floor. After reading the reviews I still wanted to see it for myself in person. Outside it doesn't really look like much and inside it's about the same. The lobby is pretty and it makes you think the rest of it will be just as pretty. Nope. The dirty mirrors. The bubbled paint on the ceilings. It smelled like my grandmothers house when she was in her late 90's. The multiple rooms with mismatch carpet and tile. The only good room, the grand room has a minimum of 300 people, other than that the rest of the rooms are not worth the price their charging. After I reviewed the options that were given to us I noticed that if you get their food package they charge you $500 for a room rental and 9K for the food (100 people). If you don't get their food package, suddenly the room rental is 9K. The bartending carts look like something that should be on the sidewalk in Manhattan serving shaved ice. The rest of the reviews are spot on. The place is in need of some serious updating, and for the price they charge you can find something way better. read more

I was very dissapointed with the service of this venue. The day of my wedding event the waiter has verbally abused and life threatened me and wife. When you pay over 20k for the venue you would expect the best service. Unfortunately, the food service was delayed for another 30-45 minutes when all guest were seated. At the end of the day we barely had time to have fun when clock ran down with horrible service. We paid 20k for food and space only. So dissapointing and sadly not recommending people to consider this venue. Think twice before you make your decision with the location. Terrible...the bathrooms haven't been updated since the 80's, the appetizers are low grade frozen food, the wines are so cheap they taste like vinegar. We asked the bartender for a glass of wine and she said "hold on I don't have an opener". The plates where we were suppose to eat diner were chipped along the edges, the forks looked dull and dirty. The decor was terrible, white sheets hanging from the ceiling covering the outdated 1980's wall paper all through out the room. We were unfortunately invited here for a christening and although going in we knew it was going to be bad, once there we couldn't wait to leave, the place is run down and in desperate need of remodeling. I can never ever recommend this place to anyone looking to throw a party. I hope to never be back here again. I'll give one start otherwise it won't let me post my review. read more
