We were here for a family celebration and left so happy. The location alone--with sweeping water views--is enough to make you feel like you're on vacation. But the real surprise was how good the food and service were, even during a packed weekend lunch. A truly magical catering hall! Right on the water! If you want second to none views for your special event, this is your place! I have been here for more events than I can remember. From corporate meetings to weddings, they can handle anything here! The staff is very friendly, and the place is very well maintained. The pictures that you can take here are absolutely stunning!!! How many other halls are on the water? LOL They have 2 main rooms that can handle up to 800 people. Both are beyond gorgeous! They also have an outside with weather permitting. Food is also amazing here. An organization that I am part of comes here for breakfast once a year, and their bacon and eggs are amazing hahahaha!!!! All in all, a truly spectacular place. I recently visited Marina del Rey (07/12/2024) to inquire about hosting my husband's birthday party. I had booked an appointment online and was looking forward to checking out the venue. However, my experience was far from satisfactory and left me feeling discriminated against. Upon arrival, I walked into the office on the right side of the entrance and informed the man at the desk that I had an appointment. He directed me to walk up front and ask for Hannah. I did as instructed, approached a young woman, and said, "Hi, I was told to speak to Hannah, I believe that's you." She responded with, "Who told you to come to Hannah?" I informed her that the man in the office had sent me. She then went into the office and returned about 40 seconds later, introducing herself as Hannah. This was a bit confusing and off-putting. Hannah then proceeded to show us one room after asking about the number of guests we were planning to have. I mentioned 100, as that is the minimum number the venue allows for events as per what I was told. She confirmed this and only showed us one room at that moment. When I asked to see the other rooms, she mentioned that the other room required at least 130 people. This was the second red flag for me. I insisted on seeing the other room, and she reluctantly agreed to show it to us (myself, my husband, and my sister). The next room, which I believe was called the Venetian Room, was shown to us with a caveat that a small part of it would need to be closed off since we would only have 130 people if we chose that room. If we had at least 150 guest the entire room could be opened. When I asked why, she replied that they wouldn't want the room to look empty. After that comment , I officially felt as if she was being biased and dismissive to us. Throughout the tour, every question I asked was met with a rebuttal, and her attitude was standoffish. In the office, she presented us with two different menus and when we mentioned our preferred dates, she suddenly claimed that December 26 was booked, despite being told earlier over the phone that they usually don't book for Thursdays, implying there would be an extra charge if we chose that date. I feel her demeanor was the way it was because we're black. She didn't even bother to close the door to the office, leaving it wide open despite other events happening nearby. When my husband asked how many rooms were in the venue, she claimed there were only two, despite the poor quality of the tour. We expressed interest in an open bar buffet style event, and she immediately noted it would be more expensive. When I inquired about the type of liquor included, she chuckled and vaguely said "well branded." I had to explain that different venues use different terms for their liquor selections, and we were accustomed to hearing "premium" and "top shelf." Once she explained their selections, we indicated our preference for what they termed "premium." She kept asking, "Are you sure?" in a condescending manner. By the end of the tour, I was thoroughly disgusted with her attitude. It was clear she assumed we could not afford the venue based on our race. She even remarked that she would "do us a favor" and bring the price down, although we had not even discussed negotiating the price. Despite our interest, she never provided a total cost for the event. This experience was deeply disappointing and left me feeling discriminated against. I hope the management at Marina del Rey addresses these issues and ensures that all potential clients are treated with respect and professionalism. read more

Where do I begin. My husband and I had our reception at Marina Del Rey on 10/08/22. We started our planning in 2020 and worked with Joe Savino. Let me start by saying he is a wonderful human. He is sooo kind and so helpful. He let me ramble on about all the things I imagined for my day of and took note of all of it! He was so helpful with helping to create the perfect day for us. We had a few visits with him and what should have been a half hour meeting turned into at least an hour because he will make you feel so comfortable and so at home! He made the experience of being a bride so fun and exciting! The venue itself is absolutely breath taking. From the fountain in the lobby, to the greenery outside, to the gorgeous white dock! It is just gorgeous and sooo well kept! Our cocktail hour room was big and spacious. All of our guests were able to sit and eat comfortably. Our reception room was the room that faced the water. Clean, spacious, but warm at the same time. The lighting around the entire room (that you can adjust colors for) is so nice to fill the whole room with the vibe/theme you are going for. There are two bars, one on each side of the room so everyone isn't packed at one place. The service!!! EXCEPTIONAL! This is the only venue I've ever been to that goes around and asks if you want seconds of food. What a wonderful thing when the food is also EXCEPTIONAL! We have heard nothing but compliments about the food, from cocktail hour to the pasta trio to main courses to Viennese hour. They do an outstanding job at everything they make. I even had someone say "the food here is so much better than most venues". It sure is!!! The bridal staff was just wonderful. Tonya was my bridal attendant. She was such a sweetheart! From the second I walked into my bridal sweet, she helped me with everything I needed. She made sure we ate, made sure I was bustled, and most importantly she made sure my drink was never empty!! At some point, someone stepped on my dress and one of my bustle buttons came undone. She came right away and made sure I was okay as someone was fixing my dress! I didn't even know she saw what happened! She made the day sooo easy and took such weight off my shoulders knowing I had her for everything I needed. I can truly go on and on for hours about this place. My wedding day was absolutely perfect and I owe the biggest thank you to Marina Del Rey, Joe Savino, Tonya, our chef and ALL the staff for making sure our wedding was literally everything we dreamed of. Visited the Marina for a friend's wedding, and it was such a gorgeous event! The ceremony itself was held outside overlooking the water, and it was perfect. There was plenty of seating, the temperature was perfect, and the backdrop made the exchange of vows such a special time. After the ceremony, we had a cocktail hour with a huge spread (as in multiple tables) of appetizers - with everything ranging from stuffed mushrooms, sushi, baked clams, calamari, sliders, steak. The staff at the bar were awesome, and always checking in on us to see if we needed anything - the bride even made her own custom drink that we all got to try and it was delicious! We then went inside the Venetian dining room for our plated dinner. We started off with sorbet and bread and butter, followed by penne al vodka. I ordered the chateau briande filet mignon, which was so tender and cooked perfectly. The asparagus was fresh and crisp and amazing. The dessert options spanned several tables, and they served one of my favorites - chocolate dipped strawberries. The staff were all very professional and present throughout the event. Attended a wedding here on 9/25. Marina Del Rey is a gorgeous place inside and out! enjoyed cocktail hour with lots of food. Bartenders were great, poured every drink perfectly, and managed crowds well. The wedding was also nice, with a big dance room, and a big room for a big family! Some of the servers just may need reminding to ask first before they take any plates. At cocktail hour i wasn't finished and one of them took my plates! oops! I did notice as the night went on, they made sure to ask tho, so that is appreciative. Anyways, oh and not sure if this is an issue with the people who made the signs or what, but when it said pasta on the menu- the subtitle should have explained that the pasta was a medley of 3 pastas: Gnoochi, alfredo with mushrooms, and regular. Just so people know what it in front of them- i presumed that it was gonna be a big bowl of penne with sauce! Even explain the plated desserts and what they were as well! Overall Food was good at the wedding. Although, Someone should have checked on all their food because i didn't like my food(entree eggplant parm, too much cheese!), and luckily my aunt gave me some of her steak that she shared. I work in food service, so it is important to make sure that they like the food.I didn't go outside this time, but the views outside are amazing too! I would love to give it 5 stars. I attended a wedding there. It is a beautiful location. Everything about the wedding was fantastic - the food, the set up... I was texting pictures home to show everyone. But I am writing because of the wait staff. They took plates the millisecond someone put their fork down, even though there was food on the plate and they weren't finished. We would make a plate, turn to talk to someone, and the plate would be gone. The drink would be gone. It's a wedding, not a restaurant where we are glued tour seats. We had plenty of time. It happened to everyone. When we were present and asked them to leave the plate, some of the staff seemed quite put out. It was rude and also really annoying to have to make a new plate or get a new drink. If you want to hold an event there I strongly suggest you ask about that. It was a disappointing experience in an otherwise seemingly flawless event. read more

I just had my wedding at Marina del Rey on Sunday 10/6 and i had an amazing time there. Joe Orzo our Maitre'd was spectacular. He made sure all the bridesmaid and groomsmen knew what they were doing during the ceremony. For our ceremony he suggested we move it inside since the weather wasnt so great but we decided to keep it outside. Joe made sure all the chairs were wiped down and dry when the guest sat down. During the reception he made sure things were running smoothly. He went with whatever i said. And made judgement calls based on how things were going throughout the night. Tonya my bridal attendant was pretty good she made sure i was okay throughout the night. She brought me dessert when i didnt have a chance to go. Over all the food was great! I got compliments from my guests that the the wedding was amazing, the food was delicious and the venue was beautiful. The agency I work for decided to host our staff holiday party here. From the moment you arrive you are welcomed by scenic views as it is located off the water near the Throgs Neck Bridge. For those who drive, there is valet parking available. Coat check is also available indoor. The interior is just as beautiful as the exterior. There's an indoor fountain near the entrance. The bathrooms were extremely clean and well stocked with toiletries. The ballroom was huge and beautifully decorated. The food was better than expected. Various appetizers were served while staff took the orders for our entrees. I ordered the baked filet of salmon. The salmon came with roasted potatoes and string beans. The salmon and potatoes were well seasoned. Since it was a non alcoholic event we were served sodas, water, juices, tea and coffee. The staff was very professional and definitely helped to make the experience a pleasant one. I am definitely looking forward to the next. read more

Attended a fraternal organization dinner here Thursday night. Easy to get to from Queens, basically right over the Throgs Neck Bridge. Valet parking. The dinner was in the main ballroom, and we were seated at the best table, in my humble opinion, center by the window, with a beautiful view of the Long Island Sound, with the Throgs Neck Bridge to our north and the Whitestone Bridge to our south. Came here for a wedding. Everything was perfect from the valet parking to cocktail hour to the dinner. Bartenders on point at cocktail hour, waitstaff super friendly and attentive. The food was really great. But what you really need to talk about here is what a beautiful venue for pictures. Bridge is in the background and the locations grounds are fabulous. You can take a walk outside and there is a beautiful spot everywhere you go. Marina Del Rey has all the people who work here know how to do an impeccable job. You can argue that catering halls are becoming passé, and believe me there are plenty out there with bad food and tired aesthetics that would lead one to believe that. The Marina del Rey, however, defies those stereotypes and really knows how to deliver a party. The event I attended here tonight was seamless from start to finish. The Marina, along with neighboring Villa Barone Manor, are not just well known catering halls in the Bronx, but all over the NY metropolitan area. I've even had friends from college in Albany who have attended functions here. Located at the very end of East Tremont Ave in Throggs Neck, the Marina sits right on the Long Island sound, and there's no doubt that's one of their biggest selling features. The room we were in had windows lining the back wall that gave spectacular views. Additionally, we had access to the outdoor deck which had couches, chairs, and tables to sit and socialize. They have a gazebo area for wedding ceremonies, as well as a dock you can walk onto for even more Kodak moments. The overall decor of the Marina is typical of a catering hall, very grand and opulent looking. Everything look well-kept and fresh, plus the room was big enough where the tables weren't on top of each other. I was really impressed with the food. The cocktail hour was buffet-style with a variety of Italian and Asian food, plus a carving station. For pasta I had rigatoni with marinara sauce, and they had someone going around offering to add ricotta (yes please). I had salmon as my main which was really tasty. I generally have low expectations when it comes to catering hall food, but the Marina did a good job. Service was also great, table clearings, beverage refills, and even napkin foldings were all consistently done. Marina is definitely my favorite of the NY catering halls I've been to. This place is absolutely beautiful. The views outside on the water are breathtaking and the ambiance is classy and clean. I came here for a friend's wedding last night and it was set up really nice. The cocktail hour had really good bartenders and well made mixed drinks. The food selection was really good too. They had assorted cheese and meat ( my favorite) , cold tortellini salad ( YUM ), eggplant rollatini, sushi, meat, white pizza, meat balls, sesame chicken, calamari, and a few other things. Then for the main course we had assorted pasta. I loved the gnocchis and regular pasta but I wasn't a huge fan of the risotto. I ate it anyway though after I drenched it in Parmesan cheese ! The main course was chicken and shrimp with mash potatoes and asparagus. I loved the shrimp because it was seasoned well but I didn't like the chicken. The entire table didn't like the chicken either because it tasted bland and rubbery. The mash potatoes were really good and the asparagus was okay! The dessert was phenomenal and they even gave us to go boxes for it to take home ! I would recommend this place for weddings or sweet 16's. We had a wonderful time at my cousin's wedding. The cocktail hour was in a huge space, everyone had a table and there was an endless supply of delicious cocktail munchies. The staff did a great job of replenishing the goods because I never saw an empty chafing dish. The room, however, was freezing. The main reception hall was also another great large space, you didn't have to shimmy through tables to get to the dance floor or bar. The view between both bridges is lovely and there wasn't much, if any, boat traffic so it made a very serene and quiet atmosphere. The orange salad was pretty good, the best part about it was the candied walnuts. The pasta course was really intriguing! You get a dish with three areas, one was manicotti, one was risotto and one was gnocchi. The gnocchi were overly dense, and the manicotti wasn't super flavorful. I'm not a fan of mushrooms so the risotto was out of question for me. I ordered the chicken valdostata, a really good dish with a great portion. The servers came around asking for seconds and I plopped a steak on there. Perfectly medium-rare cooked. I took home a nice goody bag of it. Dessert was a bang, lots of tables, and all Italians know, there has to be take home plates too. I liked the pretzel and cookies in the lobby as you exit. Really sweet to end the night that way. The venue is really large, and it was difficult for some of my older family members to walk the great length to use the facilities and such. read more

However, I've never been here for a public event. Today May 12th, 2019 went for Mother's Day brunch for the first time and have to say I will never go back for this again. Maybe because it was raining and something was in the air but people there acted like they never had food or dessert before. It was chaos when they brought out the viennese dessert tables. Servers bringing out the tables and people walking with them and taking desserts and they haven't even set up the tables yet. People are taking 8,9,10 dessert pieces so they can take it home. I've never been to any event that I've seen people bombarded the dessert tables and tried to grab anything and everything they could it was ridiculous I was embarrassed for them. We got a dessert and we left. People putting desserts inside aluminum pans I swear it was crazy. My son wanted to get popcorn I was afraid to let him walk across the floor because it was chaos look at the video I've never seen anything like this. They had a dj but there was no dancing and music was not really for dancing. It was more like music you hear while eating. They also had a magician for the kiddies he was very good. With that being said I love Marina del Rey but if I knew Mother's Day event was like that we would not have gone. read more

I was a guest at a wedding this weekend. Stunning setting for an outdoor gazebo wedding right on the water. The selling point? There is a extraordinary walkway bridge extending far (about an avenue long/ 2.5 city blocks) into the water that opens up on either side to an enclosed T shape right In the middle of the water like it's own teeny Island. Fantastic spot of photos, serenity, to get away from the party or view it from a gorgeous vantage point, because it's water, sand, rocks and shallow breakpoints encircling the venue. Hence, Marina Del Rey. Service was impeccable. Down to earth yet minutely helpful and courteous. At one point, I had lost my folder and jacket and sent a team searching for it only to find it with another guest. The food was excellent. The amenities were great but it really was, basically the whole dam thing. Like a well oiled machine, the place sells itself. With a good team, it's not surprising they are booked months in advance. read more

This place is beautiful from the breath taking views to the amazing food and drinks, could not recommend this place enough. I've never been so impressed with wait staff before, every time I got up I came back to the table with a folded napkin, clean silverware, fresh plate ect. Truly top notch! Well done. The cocktail hour was beautiful and elegant with everything possible from crab cakes to a whole roasted pig. Everything was delicious and fresh and amazing. Fresh pasta stations, meats and cheese, mac and cheese, mini burgers, you name it they had it. The bar was great made excellent drinks a lil strong but what better way to have a great time at a wedding then to have everyone a little loosened up. The views outside on the back deck area was gorgeous with the George Washington to the far right and the throngs neck to the left made for some amazing photos. After the cocktail hour we were directed into the main dining hall. It was beautiful and elegant. The tables were beautiful from the floral arrangement to the place setting. First course was a beautiful citrus and blue cheese salad with red onions lettuce and a light dressing. What I really liked was how many options I had to choose from for dinner. First you chose between two pastas linguine with clam sauce or manacotti. There wasn't the usual chicken, beef, or fish like most places there were about 7 options from prime rib to shrimp oreganatta, stuffed chicken, pork chops you name it they had it. I had the prime rib and my boyfriend got the chicken with fried eggplant and prosciutto both were excellent. Dessert was by far my favorite part of the night being that they had 7 tables filled with amazing Italian desserts from gelato to a chocolate fountain to canolis and lobster tail (if your Italian you will know what I'm talking about) they had a banana foster station and a crepe station as well. The waiters gave us to go boxes that everyone stuffed with goodies. I enjoyed mine the next morning with coffee =) Only flaw was the valet parking situation that gets quite backed up so my boyfriend and I chose to just park rite outside the building on the street that made it so easy to leave and go home. read more

Room was unbearably freezing cold, I left with back pains. Cocktail hour food choices were mediocre at best. If I want hamburger and hotdogs I don't need to attend a wedding to eat it. No labels as to what the food was, so it was basically a guessing game as to what you put in your plate. Not enough serving utensils. read more

We came here for a friend's wedding a few years ago and when it was our turn to choose a place, Marina Del Rey was the first place we wanted to check out. What's great is that they are not pushy and encourage you to check out other venues so you can make the best decision. They've been around since 1972 so you know they know what they're doing. Joe Savino is so great! From our first meeting to the next one and the ones after that and our tasting, he has been amazing! Our parents really liked the place and food as well and we couldn't be more excited about getting married here! The food is a priority because I am a bride that will be eating on her wedding day :) Our tasting let us try some items and dish set ups that we hadn't had at the other wedding and was very beautifully set up. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed every part of the meal from the salads, to the pastas, to the entrees and desserts. It was magical! Super excited! Cocktail party for 3 hours - lobster, oysters, lamb, sushi, there must have been 400 items to choose from and no end in sight. Open bar all night. Service was impeccable. Each table of 8 had their own waiter. 3.5 - 4 hours in we were served our intermezzo followed by pasta ( I do not eat pasta unless it's good (omfg this was great!!). Followed by entrees. We both ordered salmon ( not your average serving - if it were correct etiquette I would have asked for a doggie bag) We left before dinner was over due to the snow- heard the dessert table was tdf. High school prom was held here and Alumni dinners. Place is still very pretty after all these years in between. By the water and service was great for scenic photos. read more

Just had my wedding here - the wedding of our DREAMS! Let's just start with that VIEW - waterfront pier!!! Also we Well attended to, the staff went above and beyond to serve us and our guests and make sure every detail was perfect (including some things I didn't even think about or plan out as well as I could have - they took care of!). They set up a BEAUTIFUL favor table for us that I actually gave very little direction about. Bridal attendant was very attentive and helpful, making sure I the bride was at ease and had everything I needed. Maitre D Joey took care of everything - directed us and our bridal court through processionals and entrances, and never left our group always with us to see that we were good. Food was delicious. Can't recommend Marina enough - thank you from Lauren and Antonio for the most beautiful wedding! read more
