In our area we have 4 options, grande, AT&T, dish, and time warner. I have been with grande for over 10 years now but have on a few occasions thought about leaving for a better deal. Each time I do my research I end up staying with Grande. Nobody can get close to the 400 Mbps speed, time warner is the fastest @ 50 and at&t brags about their "super fast" 12 Mbps! Grande like all of the other companies has low entry packages that begin to creep up after 6 months so you have to change plans every 6-12 months to keep getting the best deal. This is why they lose a star. Service is better than any I have seen, tech support is in Texas! Technicians give you specific time frames and call before they show up for installations. I am sticking with them but be warned grande, AT&T is putting fiber optic lines in my neighborhood so I will be reviewing my plan as soon as they roll out their new offers.....gotta love free market competition! read more

I am highly disappointed with the deceptive billing practices at Astound Broadband. I called to cancel my service, and the representative explicitly confirmed that my account would be deactivated that same day with no further charges. My account was fully paid off and up to date at the time of the call. Nearly a month later, I discovered I was still being charged. When I called back to investigate, a different representative claimed I was charged because I canceled in the middle of a billing cycle. This contradicts exactly what I was told during my initial cancellation. Astound needs to honor the original agreement made by their representative and refund these unauthorized charges. read more

I have had the same recurrent problem. My T.V. screen stops, pauses and tries to refresh. This is not normal or acceptable. Yes, I have called maintenance seveal times and have had to hold for a very long time! I was always told to unplug and plug back in. It worked TEMPORARILY. First from $60/mo. to $80, and then $90 and then $30 in one month without explanation or added services. The little clerk at the Astound store pointed out somewhere in the back pages of my recent statement that they had given me notice that my discounts were expiring. I have been with astound for 2 months. My service for internet and phone has throw back Thursday vibes. Internet service can't handle 1 firestick and a few computers. Phone service , I have to go outside, or raise my arm in the air or stop driving to receive service. My phone service gets car sick. I have never had so many dropped calls. RUN, RUN, RUN. The value sucks. It's not worth the stress. I regret wasting my time. And I never got the amazon gift card. Do not use this service. It took 3 blocks driving for my phone to connect to a call. If you are trying to choose a internet /cable provider.... RUN, RUN, RUN (do not walk) from Grande. If I could give them a zero rating, I would. In one month, we have had incorrect billing AND not one, but FOUR technicians out here trying to give us a basic cable and internet package. Each one has been here for an hour or less and has failed. Every day, it is the same issue... the TVs will not turn on unless you get up and unplug the box to restart the settings. The IPTV boxes have been installed and then replaced during our first month with them. Each time, we lose all our favorites and have to start all over again. Today, they are replacing these boxes with TIVO boxes and the tech doesn't know how to sync our Bose soundbox with the TV. He's been here for almost 4 hours and has made two trips back to the main office and the TV's are still not working. He didn't introduce himself (just said he was here from Grande) and just walks in and out of the apartment without knocking. As for the billing, they promised free installation and then billed us for the full amount, anyway. When my husband called them , they said they would only charge us 1/2 the amount and then when he went to the office and showed them the email, they reluctantly refunded the rest. We were told that they were the "preferred" providers at this apartment complex and that their boxes were already in place here when we moved in, or we would NEVER have gone with them. read more

The worst Internet service provider I have ever encountered. They offered me 300 Mbps for $35.99 a month, free installation, plus free modem for 6 months. They charged me $10 setup fee. Total for May was $51.16. In June my bill was $40.33, and I expected that to stay for the next 5 months. In July they billed me for $70.33. In August they billed me for $55.88. In September they billed me for $59.54 ($35.99+17.75 for "high speed Internet"). Totally untrustworthy, totally in violation of Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. read more

Grande cable is by far the most expensive and worse cable provider I've ever had. For cable & Internet w/o premium channels like HBO, we are paying 264.00 Grande Cable does not have different plans like Spectrum or Comcast. I don't care that we have 4 set-top boxes. To make things worse, our apartment complex has an exclusive partnership with Grande. That means you can only get cable tv from Grande. I've used Firesticks and subscriptions before. I highly advise this vs paying what my wife & I pay. This is our last month paying. Grande Cables' customer service is worse as well. You can tell the CSR's are stressed out over hearing all of the complaints and not having any other options for subscribers. I cringe every time I see that bill in the mail. If there was an option for zero stars that is what astound broadband aka grande communications would receive from me. The service is absurdly ABSURDLY unreliable... I moved into the Gulf Breeze apartments in Corpus Christi, TX less than two months ago and the number of calls I have had to make regarding service and outages is outrageous (20+ calls, 1 " upgrade" of services and 2 techs coming out here ) - it is bad . It is REALLY REALLY horrifically bad. My apartment complex apparently has some sort of " contract " with them so my hands are tied in the way of getting another provider. I work from home and have lost hundreds of dollars if not more because of their shoddy and unreliable service . Do not walk - RUN from Grande Communications ( ASTOUND) and any apartment complex they may have a contract with. Yes , they have given me $30 back on one bill and then I was told my next bill would be voided but I don't want that - I want - I'm sorry - NEED the internet . The call center people are reasonably " nice", however it does not make up for the lack of literal internet . The one thing they're meant to provide - they ... just ... don't . As I am typing this I am just NOW getting my internet back for what seems like the dozenth time... It went down last night at 9pm Weds and it is 3pm on thurs - UNACCEPTABLE. Grande customer service rep agreed to a lower rate to get closer to what spectrum was offering for about half of what Grande charges for the same speed. They weren't able to match that price but offered a faster speed for about $13 more. The CSR rep stated I would need to take my modem in and exchange it for the faster speeds. 3 motlnths later I'm reviewing my bill and see they not only did they not give me the rate they told me, they actually went up $20 a month on my bill to over $100 a month for what they advertise for $59. I called trying to fix the billing issue and was told I wouldn't get the rate quoted unless I swapped modems which was never told to me by the CSR. They offered a $10 credit. Easy way to lose a customer and someone who has sent 100's of people to grande as a Broker who often gets asked which internet company to use. read more

After 6 months of terrible internet & customer service , I cancelled my Grande account. This company gave me nothing but weak excuses for every time my phone & internet would not work. At least 4-7 times a day my internet & phone simply would not work. Grande hires young hacks to do installation. They're unprofessional, unknowledgeable, & liars. They look for the easiest way to do their job & move on to the next customer. Technicians will lie to you, so they don't have to do the right installation you want them to do. They leave jobs unfinished. A technician left a wire hanging from my ceiling and when I stopped him from leaving he said, "What you want me to remove the wire from your ceiling?" They installed low hanging power line wires in my front & backyard. Technician arrived, I asked him specifically where to remove their crappy installation. He removed the wires in front, left the wires in the back, & just left. I now have wires hanging off the sides of my house & backyard. Really unprofessional & classless Grande. read more

I've had these guys since they were Clearsource Communications. And for the last 15 years they have provided but nothing but the best Internet, Television and Phone for me. Out of 15 years of service, I've maybe had a total of 2 hours of actual downtime of internet. The most reliable, fastest providers in town, and NO JOKE they are FAST. The only complaint is there on demand service which is so slow it's not even usable but if you know what your searching for, then your good to go. I have been a loyal customer of Grande's for almost six years according to their own info given to me by the rep I spoke with today. I noticed that my bill had jumped$20 and was curious why. He told me that the "promo" I was on had ended. When I asked if there was another "promo" available I was told no. I then told him that I saw the same "promo" I was just on still available on their website. He informed me that particular "promo" was only for new customers. Funny thing is it was the same "promo" that they placed me on last when I wasn't a "new customer" then! Funny how some companies don't really care about retaining their current customers and only care about attracting "new victims/customers." Well, good luck with that business model Grande. I experienced a great joy by having a young lady technician finally able to fix my email problems. I have tried to receive help from a number of techs from Grande and Apple the last year and a half or so. They poured hours of time with no luck. My problem was being able to receive but not send emails to my friends, family and colleagues. The very sweet and patient young lady was so nice and extremely knowledgeable. I wasn't of much help because I was using my phone so I inevitably misspelled a couple of words due to my poor vision. That threw a wrench in the machinery. But she patiently stuck it out, figured out the glitch and fixed the problem. I can now use my Grande email account instead of Yahoo and have the capability of receiving and sending email like the old days. I lost all my contacts because I couldn't send out mail. When i first started with Grande we had a good deal with lots of channels and was paying about $100-$110 a month. After noticing the increasing prices I called to find out why. There answer "taxes"! Okay, I get it taxes do go up. So we stayed with Grande another 6 years. During that six years for less channels and internet speed our bill has increased to $189.67 a month!!! Included in that bill is our $89.99 bundle for cable, $67.00 for SURCHARGES, that leaves approx. $32.00 for equipment rental fee and taxes. So I called to cancel my cable and just get internet. They were going to charge me $75.00 a month for internet speed of 300mbps. I fought this obviously and they have (after 1 hour and a phone call from a supervisor) agreed to only charge the 35.99 price that is quoted online plus a 12.99 modem rental fee which brings our total to about $54 JUST FOR 300 mbps speed!!! RIDICULOUS!!! WISH WE HAD MORE OPTIONS FOR INTERNET BECAUSE WE WOULD SWITCH!!! This is the service you get the longer you are with them. The first year or two is great. Then it is fighting tooth and nail to get them to come down on their price and when you get the price down for your bundle they add what they didn't get in the bundle fee to SURCHARGES. You won't see it right away but they add it a little at a time!! WATCH OUT THEY ARE CROOKED!!! PS When I called and asked where the surcharge fees go they stated that "SOME" of it goes to businesses like the sports package lineup, etc. When asked what the remaining amount is paid to...... I was given a time and Cory was here and ready to get my service installed. Cory was very knowledgeable and courteous. My experience with Grande is incredibly poor; I was scheduled to have internet installed in my home and even confirmed that I would receive a phone call when the technician was on the way. I went down the block and when I returned they. Had left a 'sorry we missed you' card. Upon calling them, the representative was incredibly dismissive and offered no solution, I was passed to several departments and brushed off. The customer service I was provided was beyond sub-par and I would highly recommend seeking out another internet service provider as this poor quality service seems to be a consistent theme with Grande. I have used all of the major providers in Corpus Christi, and Grander is by far the best internet service provider. The cost is lower than ATT or TWC, and they actually deliver the speed they promise. I am very pleased, and don't think I could ever switch back to the other two. I've always had pretty great service & customer service from Grande, but this evening when I had to call the customer service line to amend a situation where I was at fault & had forgotten to pay my bill, thereby finding my internet service disconnected when I arrived home from work, the grande rep who helped me was beyond awesome. He went out of his way to wave my late fee & not only take my payment over the phone, but also set up my auto pay so it wouldn't happen again, & then proceeded to remain on the line with me until my service was properly reinitiated. During the entire call he was kind, polite, & professional yet friendly in the best way. His name is V.O. & I hope Grande sees this so he is properly commended... he is most definitely an asset to the company! HE is the reason I thought to write this review.
