They are fine once you are actually talking to someone but there is probably three people that work for the company because it takes forever to actually talk to one. Here's my story: I moved to Waco and set up with Time Warner initially and was happy with the service for 6 months. I then moved to Hewitt and Was set up with Grande. It was okay for a time but it had disconnection problems. The tech showed up three times within one month to investigate. Of course, each time, the internet magically worked and the same issue appeared again. I soon learned to just reset the modem and it usually worked but who wants to do that several times a month? After those problems were diverted, I noticed an advertisement for Grande customers to get 200Mb download speed for the regular starting price of $70. So like a normal american, I was greedy and wanted more bandwidth for my buck. I called in only to get a chance for an upgrade to the existing promotion for a said "$80." I was not happy with that answer but I did the upgraded like a normal american. A few weeks later, my bill hit my email account "you got bills!" I then acted like a normal american and check for the increased price. It was there and it was more than intended. A whopping $90! "Thieves!" I said aloud as if I were now a medieval king. By the way, I'm not a medieval king; I'm an IT. So using my IT expertise to my advantage, I did a speedtest. Would you believe that I got the same 50Mb/s as I was before? "Well f*ck me two ways till sunday" I pondered like a normal texan. I felt scammed. Needless to say, I went running back into the arms of Time Warner and for a great package deal, I will be able to catch all the sports games I've been missing for around the same price. I have paid them for 3 years and if I was a new customer I would get 10 times the internet speed I get now and 2 new more TiVo boxes for less than what I pay now! Thanks to 'Grande Communications' -- They do High-Speed (Coaxial Cable) Internet, Home Phone (Which is set up basically like VoIP) not that anyone uses landlines anymore, & they also have a very good Digital Cable TV Service with a consistently excellent TV Picture, a FREE TiVo Cable Box with service, up to 4 of 5 can be set up in different parts of the house for different TVs, & finally, on top of their really good, competitive pricing & available premium channels, their Customer Service is absolutely top-notch! Even during initial installation, they do not rush through the job, they have actual Grande Employees with proper photo I.D. badges to identify themselves. They don't leave until after they've gone through ALL the checklists to make sure everything you requested is working properly, that you fully understand everything you need to know to use the service right away, immediately. He even gave me like 3 or so days of ALL the premium channels because he knew he could leave it on & that the system would catch the error within a few days. This was also the first time for any Cable Company that I didn't have a major problem just moments after the technician left. Their call center customer service is also the best I've ever dealt with. They are actually knowledgeable & fully trained. Most Cable companies rush their employees through extremely important training & focus mostly on sales & trying to upsell customers. We had an appointment to have our service cut on from 5-7pm. No one even showed up. When we called to see what was going on dispatch office was already closed! The only thing Customer service could do is set an another appointment for the next week!!!! 6 more days... I am so furious with this. They are booked. The Tech that came out actually went to the house across the street from mine. My address is clearly marked. He said no one answered when he knocked. Of course not. I called and he had to finish all his other appts before coming 5:30pm was supposed to be at my home by noon. When he arrived he was rude. He refused to install separate outlets. Left a spaghetti of wires across my floor. I called back in because I wanted the wires not to be going across two rooms with a splitter & one of my box's did not work. I have been with them for many years. Texas company, call I get people in Texas not India or where ever. I have had no trouble with internet, I did add my own buster when I upgraded the speed. My house is long and narrow. When I call with a problem they are prompt to correct. I needed to reduce my bill, got less channels but cut the cost in half. Will stay with them. Do not go with grande if you can help it! They lie about their pricing. They advertise $90, but when you get your bill it will be $145 because of surcharges for all kinds of channels you didn't want. If I didn't have to have this cable/Internet provider because they are the business my apartment building requires me to use, I wouldn't. They are very, very expensive for the little service that they provide. The cable in particular is terrible. What few channels I do get frequently have sound and picture problems. For example, right now there is no sound on one of the channels despite having a clear picture on one of the channels. Other times the picture will freeze, be a few seconds off on the sound, or will suddenly be from a different show or commercial than the sound that is being played. If you can get cable and/or internet from a different provider, I strongly encourage you to do so. They aren't worth the money and they the services they provide are shoddy. read more

She also admitted the prices on there website did not include what we will be charged after the introductory period is over. This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I just moved here and ready to move back so I do not have to deal with this company. The customer service is a joke. The sad thing is I am forced to use this company. I have had a tech out 5 times for a simple modem and now another tech to install TiVo but he had to leave after spending 2 hours trying to get support to bring it online and could not so I am on hold for 1 hour 15 minutes while they figure out the problem. Now they say they cannot help and need to pass me off to someone else. Not to mention I have 2 coaxial cable running across my floor because they could not get the modem to work on the jack behind the TV so that is the only way I could get internet. Initially the transferred service lasted 2 days and by accident I found out the transfer was somehow cancelled. They can't give me a reason. Really??? I paid my bill on time on the first of august, 2 weeks to spare. On the 16 of this month I got a letter for nonpayment. I call grande and they told me that the payment didnt go through . I told them that both times i check it said it was recieved. They check to comfirm but could not tell me why it said they didnt recieve payment and charged me 30$ late fee. This was my first payment with grande and I wasnt looking forward to more incompetents. So i paid them and told them to cancel my subscription. read more

Each month it is a little different. When you call to ask them about it they will reduce it by $5. Meanwhile they give new customers a rate that is $70-80 cheaper for better service. epic failure! if grande thinks competing with time warner/spectrum is giving the same god awful service and treating their customers like dirt, then they should consider themselves one of the big boys now. yesterday, they gave me the standard noon to 5 pm time slot (fine with me, just get it done). installer comes in and sees that we have moved and their are boxes everywhere and starts to give a little attitude about, the fact that he doesn't really have time to figure all of this out that he was over booked that day and our house looks older and probably needs new wires and that is really going to take a long time. he gets one tv started and then says he will come back tomorrow. i call and audrey, who's main skill set is to read scripts off a card tells me it looks like the first opening we have is not today, but tomorrow. **dear grande, here is how the service business works. i switch to your service, you ask me if you can have a 6 hour window of time to show up, i say yes to that and am happy as long as i get my cable hooked up. that is plenty of time. you guys aren't replacing heart valves so you ought to be able to make your appointments. when you show up late and then don't get the job done at all, that would make me a higher priority to get my install done than all the other people you have promised but not yet let down. a plumber/electrician etc.. doesn't come to your house turn a few pipes in one room, knowing he has 4 more rooms to go and then leave and put the responsibility of rescheduling on me. and people in the service business who do like, love and appreciate their customers(not take them for granted with a call center script) will tell you that they are really sorry that they were late and that they didn't get your job done and that they will be there first thing in the morning and make sure you are taken care of. that is all anybody wants is for you to take care of me the customer. don't blame it on someone else in your company, don't put the onus back on me and whatever you do, don't have people like audrey tell people like me that they are sorry and that is just the best we can do! customer service is so easy, all you have to do is give a damn, be compassionate to your customers plight, be accountable and take ownership of the situation, expedite what needs to be done and your customers will not only stay with you, they will sing your praises and not have to eviscerate you on public forums to get a manager to call me back. read more

Recently moved to Waco and my apartments suggested grande communications for Internet. I ordered their 200 mbps service that during the middle of the night once got up to 83 mbps with an ethernet wired connection. I only get 3 to 5 mbps wifi most of the time through my small apartment. Only had their service 5 days now, going to turn their modem in when they open tomorrow. The connection keeps dropping and I never was able to watch a show or play my game system online without issues. Customer service was a joke and never offered a satisfactory solution, only a blanket "speeds may be slower during peak times" and "wifi speed maybe slower due to interference". Standing in front of the router with a new laptop I only received speeds of up to 30 mbps on wifi, not even 1/4 if the speed a pay for. read more

I switched to grande from time warner, after having constant net drops with timewarner, and they spiked my bill to over $400/month without explanation. Paying for 200Mbps/20Mbps Recieving 6Mbps/20Mbps Recieving less than a tenth of what i am paying for. The women at the desk were nice, even tho they all informed me that none of them used grande cable or net.FIRST ALARM IN MY HEAD When they asked what i mainly use the net for, i told them video games. They assured me that they never have drops, and we would have no bandwidth problems between consoles and pcs. They do not tell you, that they cap your 2.4ghz channel to 56Mbps max. And if you change the settings in the router to allow you to jump up to 130Mbps connection(which is still less than im paying for), the phone techs will change it back and recap you at 56M. They send out subcontractor techs, who stare you in the eyes while you do speedtests, and then accuse you of manipulating the internet when you are able to achieve speeds above that 56Mbps. They also send techs, who when you have a better signal than they do at home, get jealous and put a cap on your internet line at the pole, so that you can't anymore. I got all my channels and my internet speed i was paying for, for all of 3 days. After those 3 days, i get constant disconnects, max speeds of around 6Mbps down, and the full 20Mbps up. When requesting to talk to supervisors, they hang up on you. And when requesting supervisors come look at your problem, they send some lowly "this is my first job by myself" tech, who says "someone must have broke into your house and stole the gigabit chips that run your gigabit ethernet cards"........ ARE YOU KIDDING ME????????????????????????????? I had to tell their tech to get out of my house a dozen times after he said, "i don't think you are capable of understanding how the internet works." All the while he laughs in my face saying, "but don't you want me to swap out the router bro?" After which, he sat in front of my house, laughing about it over speaker phone with some other coworker for over 30 minutes, before i went outside and told him to get away from my property. I called to complain about him, and was told a supervisor would get back to me. That was 3 weeks ago, and still nothing. On the the cable. ANY HD show i try to watch, their lame tivo box pops my tv speakers really loudly, and shuts my tv off. I bought a new tv, as the tech told me that my HD flatscreen was "just too old for their boxes". When i plug their tivo box into my brand new tv, i get either A. no video, with sound. or B. no sound, with video. No in between. No help from customer service read more

Would not recommend grande. Internet side, they're okay. If you want to cancel or move service - they'll attempt to send your account to collections within a month, without sending you a bill for the existing address. They also won't allow you to view it online or any other way due to your account being canceled. Will definitely not use Grande any in the future for this reason, and again, would not recommend it to anyone else. Major headache when a minor billing issue goes to collection so soon without notice or a final bill. read more
