$55 to hem a cotton/poly dress. That's what they recently charged me. I blame myself, for waiting to ask the price once the pins were already in and the wheels were already in motion. It wasn't a complicated operation, and to make sure I wasn't dreaming that I'd been wildly overcharged, I took the dress off the hanger, removed all references to the establishment, and took it to two other places. One, a few blocks away, wanted to charge less than 20% of that total. And a place in tony Park Slope would have charged $38. To add insult to injury, the hem hits me in the most unflattering place on my calf. It's terrible. This is not the first time Astro has pegged me for a sucker. But it's going to have to be the last. This place does terrible cleaning and service. At first I was pretty pleased with the service when dropping off my performance clothes but eventually started noticing inconsistant charges - to a point where I would take pictures of my receipts and next time have to show and say "but I payed 1 or 2 dollars less previously for the same item..." My last couple interactions however were really awful. I brought a jumpsuit that I work in, picked it up when was ready and took it right to work. When I put it on I noticed previous stains from my makeup on the collar of the jumpsuit and worst of all, it smelled of sweat in the underarms. The whole reason for me dry cleaning is to make sure my clothes smell fresh as its rare that my things are stained. When I took it back I said I want it re done and I'm not going to pay for it once more since it hasnt been cleaned properly (even had pictures to prove). She wasnt very happy but said ok and gave me my other gowns. I opened right there and said no, they need to be re done, they still have a smell! The woman then proceeds to tell me, "maybe that's just your smell because the clothes have been cleaned" she then tried to charge me again for the jumpsuit saying "you wore it already". Yes I had worn it because I had no other choice but to wear a dirty one. After she re-did the cleaning I simply picked them up, still not fresh, found another dry cleaner who actually knows how to do a good job and never came back. read more

I've been to a couple of dry cleaners in the area, and their hours are very weird and prices seem fairly random. This is a spot that is always open. When they say they will be open, always cleans the clothes as would be expected, and has very reasonable prices.. read more

This was my first ever experience at a dry cleaner's although I just got a maxi dress tailored. I found the price to be what I expected. The tailoring took a week longer because they're busier due to COVID but I didn't need the dress any time soon so I didn't mind. They were also really nice so I didn't mind too much. The dress is the perfect length and now I can actually where it. The only thing is, the label/wash tag was cut off, which I wasn't aware would be done. Good thing I already took mental note of the materials so I know how to wash it. Also since I got it tailored, there were dots/marks left on the dress. It's sort of faded now after 1 wash but I wish they would've been more mindful about marking it with something that would wash out right away. I will be back though! read more

Everyone at Astro is LOVELY and they do a fantastic job. I took in my favorite coat recently, devastated because it got some kind of black grease stain on it. The woman working was very honest, saying that she wasn't sure if it would work, but when I picked it up it looked as good as new. I'm forever grateful. I've been disappointed with dry cleaners in Kensington. But my husband told me about Astro bc they did a nice job tailoring his pants. So I went there and they dry cleaned several dresses for me. One of the dresses had a belt and it came back missing, I called and asked about it and they got it back to me, which made me a lifer. They're expensive though. I think its like $10-12 per dress. I took my wedding dress here for cleaning FOUR MONTHS after my outdoor, farm wedding. My train had been blackened with mud, asphalt, beer, etc. We were not confident that they would be able to take out more than 50% of the strain. I thought I may have to get the train hemmed off! But, I put down the $80 for them to try. I picked it up a week later and lo and behold, it was new again! Beautiful work. Also great dry cleaning for standard clothes. No nonsense dry cleaners. Just moved to Brooklyn and tried all nearby cleaners but like Astro the best. And it's organic dry cleaning so I know my clothes are in good hands. They own their machine so don't send my stuff out which is reassuring. Overall, I'm a fan and will continue to go back for the quality! read more

My husband and I tried this dry cleaner based on some recommendations from Facebook. We gave six suits and two dresses as well as a jacket for dry cleaning. They insisted we pick up on the scheduled pick up date and time since they are very busy. The suits hanged on wire hangers without the shoulders protected. Pretty much they have mild wrinkles on them already. One of my dresses, with leather details, didn't look washed or pressed. Normally I don't smell my dresses but I did not get a whiff of freshness when I pulled them out of the plastic wrap. So I decided to smell each dress. I could not believe my senses. They both smelled of sweat!!!!!! I'm livid! They not only failed to return the dresses in a clean and pressed condition but when we notified them of the odor they didn't seem surprised. We called and asked they put a stop on our new order which we dropped off when picking up this order. We also asked they refund the money for the dresses. We will be bringing both dresses back for their sniffing tomorrow to validate our complaints. The dresses were $25 for dry cleaning and the service sucks! read more

I like these cleaners and they have moved closer to me than they were. I can take things to them that need a little more care than the normal and they have not let me down. But I would still not take anything really delicate here. You can bring your fur, leather, and I have even brought a small oriental carpet here and they have very good, reasonable people they farm that work out to. The biggest reason I jumped full ship from them to Spotless was time and cost. Astro has so much business and does things right. They work on site. But simpler things take a little longer here than I can usually wait. They are also more expensive. If I were still a regular here, I don't know if the wait would be as long. It did not used to be. But they are still a good dry cleaner in our neighborhood. read more

I have to say that I am really impressed w/ this cleaners. My overall experience here has been the best amongst others in the neigborhood. I work in corporate and need my suits on a scheduled basis and they have yet to disappoint. The receptionist is to the point, everything is systematically recorded and work quality is exceptional. I got married and trusted these people with my wedding outfits. HUGE, HUGE, HUGE mistake! I picked up the clothes and who really counts the number of shirts? We were short two, the two most important! The day I noticed, the wedding day, they didn't open when they were supposed to so we had to make due with other shirts. I went in after the wedding and they said, "Oh, here are your missing shirts" no apology, no nothing. I asked for my money back and the lady behind the counter suddenly couldn't speak English.
