To add insult to injury, the hem hits me in the most unflattering place on my calf. It's terrible. This is not the first time Astro has pegged me for a sucker. But it's going to have to be the last. My last couple interactions however were really awful. I brought a jumpsuit that I work in, picked it up when was ready and took it right to work. When I put it on I noticed previous stains from my makeup on the collar of the jumpsuit and worst of all, it smelled of sweat in the underarms. The whole reason for me dry cleaning is to make sure my clothes smell fresh as its rare that my things are stained. When I took it back I said I want it re done and I'm not going to pay for it once more since it hasnt been cleaned properly (even had pictures to prove). She wasnt very happy but said ok and gave me my other gowns. I opened right there and said no, they need to be re done, they still have a smell! The woman then proceeds to tell me, "maybe that's just your smell because the clothes have been cleaned" she then tried to charge me again for the jumpsuit saying "you wore it already". Yes I had worn it because I had no other choice but to wear a dirty one. After she re-did the cleaning I simply picked them up, still not fresh, found another dry cleaner who actually knows how to do a good job and never came back.

Okay, fine. Well I arrive to pick them up and the hem on the jeans is a solid 1" thick wide. I nearly blew a gasket. I calmly explain that this looks nothing like the hem on a pair of jeans, which is what I said I wanted. She apologized and rehemmed the jeans while I waited. Without hesitation they added that to the order, and it's a great mask. They made sure to extra cotton fabric to the inside to make sure it protects me. When I went back to pick it up, I had a great conversation with them and was so distracted that I paid without realizing they didn't charge me for the mask. When I noticed, I insisted on paying and they would not let me! They moved to the US over 30 years ago and have been in the neighborhood for decades. Their business has taken a hit because people aren't dry cleaning and altering their clothes like they used to. Please give them a visit, support their business and keep them in the neighborhood. I picked it up my dress when they said it would be ready and it was in packaging. I tried on my dress for my event and thought it seemed long. When I took it back to be looked at, the alterationist was looking at the hemline in a confused way as though he'd never even worked on my dress, I noticed he wasn't pinning it to correct it. The guy at the front desk then said "we'll give you your money back" - admitting they never even did the job I had paid $70 for. I am so furious that this place would #1: act as though they had altered it and 2: take on a job they couldn't do. It was such a waste of my time going there twice, and now needing to get it done correctly elsewhere. Beware of this place for your alterations.

The owner at the front said that it may be discolored, or may be leftover stain so they'll see what they can do. When I came to pick it up, not only was it confirmed that I had, in fact, discolored one spot, but the dry cleaners had discolored the rest of the coat as well, leaving huge marks of white throughout an otherwise indigo blue coat :( The owner and I agreed on a repayment of $300, but when I came back the next day to pick up the check, he lowered the repayment to $200. He said that his wife told him it was worth even less than that :( this coat is so special to me and cannot be replaced. They also lost the belt of the coat! I feel disregarded in a neighborhood where I otherwise feel so welcome and taken care of. Ruining a coat is one thing, coming to an agreement and then going back on your word is another. The latter is much harder to get past.
