Over 10 years ago, I used at&t for my home internet. I was totally dissatisfied. I may have to rethink my opinion. There's a crew in front of my house right now putting in at&t fiber. The crew chief is a guy named Darius. They have been extremely courteous and respectful of my property even though the easement allows them to pretty much do whatever they need to do. If this is the "new" at&t attitude, I will consider changing. WOW did the same thing using the same easement, and could care less about my property. I will NEVER use them for that reason!! I would not recommend this business at all. You can have Internet and then randomly boot you because they decide they want to do an update while you're using the Internet. They don't have common sense. They don't know when the pick and choose the right time to do stuff like when people are not using the Internet they just say oh you're using the Internet oh well we need to do update. Forget you and boot you off save your money. You're better off going with T-Mobile or any other company. I highly highly suggest you do not go for AT&T. They are not worth it. THIS IS NOT A REVIEW OF SERVICE! It is about billing. The billing cycle ends on the 7th of each month, yet for those of us who pay by check, we don't receive a bill until the end of the month, usually only days before it is due. It seems to be pushed back further each month; this month's bill leaves me four days to hope they receive payment on time. It almost seems they want us to pay late, to charge late fees! I have been a loyal AT&T fan and Michigan Bell before that for more than 50 years and have never been late or missed payment. I was a returning customer to ATT for internet services. The technician came out to install my services, and along with the technician, a representative from ATT came out t sell me cell phone services. He began his sell as "I can give you a much updated phone for free, and I can give you a better rate on your monthly cell phone services. All of which was a lie. After receiving my first bill, I discovered that not only was my cell phone bill $40 higher than my previous carrier, but the cell phone itself cost me $700. I was only given paperwork for the installation of my internet, not my cell phone, and he handed me the cell phone without a box or any instructions on the phone, I cancelled the cell phone service, and went to the corporate office to voice my complaint and return the phone. They gave me know assistance, because they said there policy is not to take returns after 14 days. How was I supposed to know it was a scam before I recieved my bill? It takes 30 days for the billing cycle? The ATT store wanted know part in the transaction, and referred me to their so called loyaty department, I was transferred to Fraud, where Fraud refused to help or listen to what I had to say. I'm a senior, and I know for sure I was deceived and taken advantage of by ATT. These cell phone companies are crafty, and they are not for the customer, but you would think a company like ATT would be a trustworthy and reputable company, but they are NOT. Now I'm stuck paying on a $700, cell phone that I can't afford or use. Shame on you ATT. read more

Bah humbug! It gives me cable and internet connection, um sometimes. I have had U-verse for just over a year and have been though 3 count em 3 modems. My computer speed varies to non existent. My computers work so much slower in one part of the house than the other on a fairly regular basis. I am constantly having to restart the works and deal with issues. Buhhh, running a diagnostic test AGAIN on our uverse cable because the picture disappeared/is choppy. It tells me "some of your cables may be loose." In every tv in the house? UGHHHH. Bottom line is that while uverse has a ton of channels and an awesome channel layout (HD channels are the same channel number with a 1 in front of it--easy to remember/find), it's horrible in terms of reliability. We are constantly resetting the modem to get the internet and/or tv back up and running. I think this happens about once every week or two for internet and once or twice a month for the tv. Absolutely ridiculous given the amount we're paying. The only reason we haven't called to cancel the service is because we keep hoping it will resolve because we do like the channel layout, plus it's such a pain to switch cable providers. I actually live in wolverine Lake, I have had u-verse for maybe a year... And the last four months I have had 11 visits, whether it be a line repair or them thinking it's something inside, which they've never found anything wrong inside the house. I have probably had up to $250 taken off my bill, plus free HBO free Cinemax and free HD, because of all the issues. It is now 4/7/2014 and it is out again and I had to call them today. Out of the 11 people that I've had come repair it, three repair/service guys have been excellent and done a great job, the others I don't think should even have their job anymore....!!! I am now going to be searching for new provider.... If you live in the Wolverine Lake Walled Lake area I would not recommend AT&T u-verse. And that one star rating you see is a mistake they get no stars...!!! read more

Well, these other reviews are sad to see! We've had AT&T U-Verse for 1.5 years, and I have nothing but good things to say. (OK, my one complaint is price, but I complain about that no matter who/what it is). In Livonia, we have one cable option, and they took complete advantage of having me at their mercy. So, when AT&T came door to door selling, I was intrigued but nervous. That was April of 2009. Since then, I can say it's one of the best decisions I've made! We only have 'cable' and internet through them, no home phone. Our cells are also through AT&T, but not bundled in. Any time I've had an issue with 'cable' (and it's only been the TV not internet, and a couple of times, at that), I've called their service people, and they've diagnosed through the phone and my TV. Love the instant service, 24/7! Update: Forgot to mention the DVR! I scoffed at 'DVR up to four shows at once', but there've been times when Ken goes to watch something on regular TV and it won't let him because I'm taping a L&O SVU from 1999, a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Chuck's Day Off and a Real Housewives from Hell at that time. Horrible product and awful process flaws in customer service. Customer service reps are always very friendly but they've been set up for failure by their cheap company supplying garbage internet service and a horrible website that stalls and redirects to dead pages endlessly. Their fiber consistently cuts out and barely reaches devices within 15 feet of the router. 20 hour ETA for an outage with clear skies? Is someone knitting a new line? If I had a choice I would drop them and leave a flaming bag of poo on their doorstep. read more

We have At&T uverse. Tonight their online tv guide is off 1/2 hour which means all the things we record to time shift are missing 1/2 of the show. As frustrating as that is, I am even angrier that when I phoned to tell them about the problem so they could fix it, I was put through to a recording that told me their office was closed, call back tomorrow or please go to the web. I went to the web and found only the very same phone number that told me the office is closed under a big banner saying "24 hour technical support". read more

This company is absolutely awful, and I would only recommend them as a last resort. They came over 3 hours later than the 4 hour window to install the service, and even then the guy they sent made me feel as if I did something wrong when I questioned why it took so long. He said there were other priority customers today. So right off the bat, they make you feel like you're not important. I called 4 times waiting for them to arrive, and for 3 hours they kept saying, "oh, he's on the way and will be there in a moment." Lies. Once the guy arrived, he asked questions that made me extremely uncomfortable and said things like "all pitbulls should be shot on sight." Cool, thanks for making a horrible experience worse. Since installing the service, it has been extremely slow and I cannot stream any video without it pausing constantly. I have contacted them multiple times and they don't really seem to care. From the very beginning we have had nothing but lies and inconsistency but final straw was this last year the DVR hasn't been working correctly. When I get the house to myself to watch my shows I get error message saying that playback is not available at this time, try again later. I don't have later and my husband will not watch my shows. So when we finally canceled our subscription the DVR was over 90% full. And they completely dropped the ball when they did absolutely nothing to fix any problems and then offered to drop our monthly payments after we already had new service installed. IF your still have ATT.net for your email, beware: I have not had access to that 'service' now going into a 4th week....regardless of how many times I contacted the 'support' team - each time getting different paths to resolution. Even the codes they sent to complete my signing in (every 2 weeks - just learning yesterday that not all need to do that), I agree that the tech 'support' even at the supervisor level is not to be trusted. Initially, I had nothing but positive things to say about the customer service - they always answered calls quickly and were pleasant to speak with. I soon discovered that this was only the "new customer" department, putting on a show. As soon as I needed help with technical issues or billing problems I got the runaround. I had both phone and internet service for just shy of 2 weeks - cancelling the cell service within the two week trial period. Their techs were at my house FIVE times to try to remedy by poor internet service and couldn't find a resolution, which was fine. I called and cancelled both services and was promised that because of the problems I had, I would have no bill for either service. What a joke! I received a bill for each within two weeks - one for the phone/device I had already sent back that they "Couldn't find". After waiting on hold for awhile I finally got a CSR and explained the situation. They found the phone all of a sudden and said they'd cancel my bills, per the arrangement I was given and for my trouble. Guess what? I just got two more bills, with a threatening "final notice" letter with one of them. I'm on the phone. Again. Spending more time I don't have to try to fix this. I've had two reps read my bill back to me and pretend that they don't know anything about the last two reps or what the notes say. I've had it with these people. I'm NOT PAYING THEM A DIME! I've had so much of my time wasted with horrible service, I should charge them my hourly rate. STAY AWAY from AT&T unless you want to be aggravated, lied to, have your time wasted, and robbed! read more

Stay away from AT&T They have NO customer service. I've had underground sprinkler damage at my home ( while burying internet fiber optic cable ) one week ago and have been passed around to multiple departments that have no clue how to handle a simple claim. I feel like AT&T purposely makes it impossible to get a simple claim taken care of so that the customer will just give up. If i could give zero stars i would. I had my installation date set for today and once the installer came Out, we realized it was the wrong speed we were promised. If we wanted to upgrade internet speed it would be an additional 35 bucks to out bill. After 4 hours of speaking with tons of different people all they could do was say sorry for the mis information the sale rep gave me. So after all this we just canceled. But wait theres more, we were charged a fee of 19.95 (that they took out the day i signed up) and wont receive it back until 60 days (in a check form)!? And that call alone took an hour. I hate AT&T. Uverse internet gets the job done - it's nothing extraordinary. I sometimes have Wifi connectivity issues. Why do I hate them? Well, it's quite simple: You can never, ever trust that what you're being told by a customer service/sales rep is correct/complete. If you don't know what to ask, you can get screwed. You can call three different times, talk to three different people, and get different info from each one. Wait times to speak to a rep can be very long, and God help you if the rep who finally answers can't help you - and that's often the case. When you get transferred, you'll have to explain the entire situation all over again...each time you get transferred. That alone can turn the calmest, most peaceful of souls into a raving lunatic. The two-star rating is for average internet and horrific customer service. read more

At&t has good service with the phone working well. I decided to get a contact phone. It was a horrible experience. I was told that it would not cost more than $60 a month for the service, because I could get a military discount. It was $150 a month. I don't even turn the phone or activate it when I saw how much it will cost a month, no thank you. I gave it back in less than two days. But, I was told that I now own $220 dollars for a phone I never used and do not have. They are a very bad company. Now, I will never get a phone from them again. read more

We have had Uverse for 3 months and all of a sudden we have no service. It's been 6 days of techs coming into the yard and house, and still no service. The techs say they will have to dig up yards to replace lines, and the company is expanding without upgrading their infrastructure. AT&T informed us we have to wait 30 days without service before they will release us from our contract. We are not happy. If your home is far away from their box, you will have issues like we do. Okay, I have had the service for 30 days. So far, the programming seems fine, but the internet is not as fast as they claim. Moreover, the customer service stinks! For instance, when you call with a complaint or any type of issue, you are always placed on hold, with a message stating the there is an unusually high call volume. This message seems to be standard protocol. In addition, I always get connected to some foreign person from another country having an American name. They are good at telling you what you want to hear, but never seem to solve anything. Finally, it usually takes two to three different people before my issues are resolved. On the phone for an average of 30 minutes or so. In other words, I explain my problem to three different people before any results. What a bunch of grief!!! read more

I never even got to try the service because customer service is so awful, they lied about the connection date. Gave me a date to connect service, called me back that evening stated they couldn't connect service due to an outside problem. When I called the next morning to CANCEL my order, the rep PROMISED ME that miraculously the outside problem had been fixed overnight and they would be able to install next day as they originally said. So, I take a half day off work to wait for the technician who arrives just to tell me that the outside issue is NOT, in fact, resolved and they have no idea how long it will take to fix. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I want to be compensated for my half days lost wage waiting for them to install a service that they couldn't install and lied to me about. My advise is that everyone else do the same and file a complaint with the BBB. I thought I hated Comcast, but U-Verse is the worst! read more

I would never recommend this service to anyone! After nine months with ATT U-verse Cable with many quality issues and high price, I decided to go back to streaming. When I called to cancel the cable portion of my service, I was told that I would be charged a $60 fee for breaking the "contract". I never had a contract. They said that since I had a 12 month discount and I was canceling before the 12 months, I had to pay the remainder of the discount. That was never something that was explained. The service was lousy. It pixelated constantly. It froze intermittently. There were times that it even if it shut itself off and reset everything for no reason. It's lousy service and they do not disclose all of the charges. I had better service at a better price with Spectrum. read more

I got intrigued with uVerse when the door to door sales guy came by. He was a goof with his fly open but he did make an interesting point about me sharing a Comcast hub with my neighbors. The asian fella next store is a heavy user and I do notice slow downs. I looked into ATT Uverse and they sent me a coupon for $ 375 off. The day I went to redeem it they said it was no longer offered even though the valid thru date was 11/6/10. Update: I switched to ATT Uverse and now much prefer it over Comcast. read more

TL;DR: -Earliest installation date was 11 DAYS after my order date. -Phone techs are extremely unreliable. -Any other internet service is a better choice. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I called on 1/29 to set up internet service in my new apartment (which previously had AT&T service installed) and requested their fastest internet available. After questioning whether Internet 24 was REALLY the fastest they could offer me, I set up my installation date for 1/31 which was the earliest available. I received a follow up email showing an installation date of 2/7 for both Internet 24 and Phone 200. Obviously I had some concerns, so I called them back and was told I could actually get the faster Internet 45 in my area and somehow 2/7 was now the earliest installation date available. Ok, fine. Confirmation email comes through to show none of these changes... Sick of getting nowhere with their call centers, I went to a local store, who were actually very helpful with what they could control, but after the change to my order the earliest installation date was now 2/9. 11 DAYS AFTER MY FIRST CALL. Apparently they can't come out to plug in and remotely turn on a modem to a previously serviced apartment earlier than 11 days after a customer calls for a new installation.... If this is how they treat their NEW customers who want to set up service, I don't even want to know how they treat their EXISTING customers who are already under contract. I called Charter-Spectrum and had my Internet installed within 4 business hours. Not only was it a much quicker installation, but my internet speed is more than double what AT&T was able to provide at a cheaper monthly price and a cheaper installation price. I will go far out of my way to never deal with or buy anything offered by AT&T ever again as a result of this entire experience. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. read more

I moved in August of 2010, the person taking over the house wanted ATT so we called the billing responsibility dept. to switch who would be billed. Ok they said everything is cool and we have made the switch after being on the phone for over a hour. At the same time I ordered new ATT service for my new residence. Well to make a long story short the new residence in a completely different city, is being billed under the new owner of the previous house I was in. Can't find a place to give a basic review. I have never dealt with a more incompetent and unprofessional company in my LIFE. Takes 90 minutes to have a 10 minute conversation with anyone in customer service. Your agents are poorly trained, I have been lied to several times in an attempt to gain a "sale". YOU recently took $120 out of my account that should've never been taken. And now I have spent 2 hours trying to get my money back! ABSOLUTELY the worst company! Technician, Laurence, is the best part of ATT Uverse internet and tv that we have come across in the 4 or so years we have had it. Vacation holds have been messed up, financially, the past several years. We needed a new receiver on one of our tv's and it took 10 days or so to have one get to our Farmington Hills, MI home. Once here, I spent about 3 days trying to hook it up. Today I called the 800-288-2020 number, talked to 3 nicely spoken people but ended up having a technician come to the house. Heaven-sent Laurence took about 10 minutes to figure out that the new receiver was not compatible with our existing ATT gateway device. He replaced it and all is well. Laurence was on time, pleasant, knowledgeable, efficient and wrapped up clean and quickly, with a mask on.
