I was lied to in this store. I went in with a cell phone that I used only occasionally and asked a simple question: if there are $35 in the account for this phone and I don't make any calls, will the credit remain in the account beyond the end of the month? They said yes, but it turned out that after the end of the month the credit disappeared and I had wasted my $35 dollars. Later I was told by someone else at ATT that I needed to have $100 or more in the account in order for it to remain in the account. So what they had told me in the store was an outright lie and they basically stole $35. read more

I had recently purchased two new iPhones on line and was having difficulty setting them up and putting the protective and glass on the phones. The way they sell plans is like scammers! They made me switch my plan to a new contract, telling me this is an upgrade and you will pay less(166 plus tax). In less than a month I ve paid to bills so far, first one was more than 400$ which was decreased to 233 after 20 phone calls and in person visits to the store and the second bill of 188$ that now I know would be my monthly bill!! Wow, this was bad. We came in to transfer my husband from his parents family line to a new family line with me. Our rep, Sean, was totally incompetent. He gave us our bill and when I asked him to explain some extraneous charges he said "I don't really know - nobody really understands these." Then when I pushed harder he said "if you just take a minute to read it, it's really self explanatory." He also left us halfway through the transaction to go help another customer and when we needed him to talk to the phone rep he tried to pawn us off on another salesman in the store. So unprofessional. All in all, we spent over three hours in this store trying to get this transfer done. Now, three weeks later, we got our first bill and MY HUSBAND HAS NOT EVEN BEEN TRANSFERRED TO MY ACCOUNT. Now I have to go back to get this resolved. So horrible. Go to Verizon. The worst service I've had in quite a while. Completely, utterly unprofessional. The "associates" talk about their plans from last night, then they complain about customers they just waited on in front of other customers. I bought a new phone and after asking a few questions I was told "I'm overthinking it". Literally. I was initially told I had 30 days to return my old phone for a $350 credit. I then went back to the store to turn in my phone and was told "Just telling you right now that the system is down". And this was told to me by the store manager. I then proceeded to go back three more times and was finally told my phone was now only worth $28. And this was still within the 30 day period. Thankfully I called customer service and they sent me a label to ship my phone back to them for the full $350 credit. All in all, horrible experience. Especially from Ashley. The sign in sheet asks for a time but has no clock. I wanted to simply buy some headphones for which I had to wait, not in a line for a cashier but for a sales rep. I didn't really have questions or need help. I needed to pay. Most retailers understand this concept and are setup to serve both customers. My total wait time was 16 minutes... To buy headphones. I am reviewing ATT Uverse "high speed" internet. If you are paying for this service you need to check your speed with an internet speed test. After I found I was getting dail up speeds of about 250 kbs, I tried to call ATT to fix it. I called 8 times, talked to about 14 people, got charged extra, and in the end they never fixed it. What you should know: They told me they would send a tech out since I wasn't getting the 3Mbs that I was paying for, and that there might be a charge, they told me the tech would let me know there was a charge for his visit so I could decline his visit. A tech came over, told me there was a charge, I told him I do not want his service then. He left, and they still charged me $55. Not to mention that the tech's never come during the four hour window they are scheduled to come in, and sometimes don't show up at all. Save your money! I have switched to the Comcast, which at least can actually provide the internet speeds that it claims to provide. I hate ATT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not get ATT. I would rate it 0 stars, but that is not an option. read more

I would give this branch and AT&T overall zero stars, but it's not an option. I agree with other posters that AT&T has the worst customer service. They have no checks and balances and I believe that complaints (if you are able to file one) are looked at by someone at the entry level and tossed into the trash. I recently moved to this area and opted to go with AT&T for home internet against my better judgment. Trying to set it up online and on the phone were useless so I went into this store. The agent made the sign up so smooth that I should have known something was up. I live in a highrise building and have always needed to be home to let the installation person into my unit to install. He told me it was not needed even upon repetitive questioning. Needless to say I get a phone call at work from the installer at my building. Trying to reset the appt proved next to impossible including an appt where I took time off work and the person never showed. When I tried to email a complaint, you could not unless you have an account with AT&T. Things I learned, you should either rent the wireless router/modem or you need to buy one from AT&T. If you don't and have a problem it will cost you $150 for a person to go and find out what is wrong, but it won't cost you anything if you have their equipment. Be home on the install date. Don't assume you have an appointment even if you get a confirmation email. If they screw up and promise you anything free, don't trust it. I'm still waiting for my visa gift card for my inconveniences and grief. Also, good luck if you have a complaint. As for lack of checks and balances, I did get a bill from AT&T for internet that I never had installed and despite my complaint that was obviously ignored or why would I get a bill a month later? read more

Grossly disappointing experience (again). All I wanted to do was spend $300 on a new iPhone and somehow I wasn't even given the opportunity. Barely acknowledged when I entered the store and then stood for 15 minutes before one of the three employees asked me if I wanted to "check in" so I could wait to be assisted. For the record, there was only one customer in the store. AT&T: your service is sub par and you staff your stores with condescending individuals who are more concerned with their commission of the moment than building any brand goodwill. One of the worst AT&T stores I've been to so far in Chicagoland. I went to the store hoping to double check our store's current internet bill and then make a payment to what we actually owed. I was not satisfied for two main reasons. First, they clearly had enough staff to assist customers when I walked in, but for some reason I was in the waiting list for 25 minutes yet nobody was actually available for me. Maybe some of them are in training and not allowed to use the system? Or maybe the customer right ahead of me was a pretty European girl? I had no idea. Second, the automatic machine for customers in the corner does not show your actual due amount. It only takes payments instead and prints out receipts afterwards, which leaves uncertain confusion somewhat. When I was double checking with the assistant who helped me, he didn't answer and left right away giving me impression that me waiting this long just for a simple operation was totally unnecessary and waste of time for him. Something more interesting. After waiting for ten minutes in the store, I decided to call AT&T customer service to see if I can do the bill double checking and payment making via phone call. After waiting about 12 minutes on the phone, I was finally told that they needed to speak to someone who is authorized to the account in order to make a payment. Because I only work part time, I am not "authorized" according to what he said. Maybe because even business internet bills information becomes private now? Then why wasn't I asked for authorization when making payment in the store right after? It's just hard for me to understand. read more

So 4 months later we start noticed our bill was extremely high. Turns out when we switched phones and plans they started charging us double. My fiancée went to the store to clear things up...later that day he stopped receiving text messages because they again screwed up the plan and put us on a family plan and a nation wide plan? My family has used AT&T for years. I've had my cell phone since 2001, and we've had internet though them since 2007. Cell phone service it good except for all the fees. Now, as it is with every carrier that I know of, you need to buy a data package with a smart phone. There is no pay per use data plan available for phone packages. I do not know about pay as you go. All around kinda pricey, but I have not had any issues with signal so I can't complain too much. I do not use their data. Internet. Well, I hold a bit of a grudge because when my family finally decided to upgrade to faster internet 1.5 Mbs in 2007 I was thrilled to be off of DSL. It was good in the beginning, but our internet started to get pretty slow, and botchy over the years. This past summer in 2011 I was house sitting at my parent's place. I could not connect to the internet so I called to have someone come by. Turns out we have been getting .6mbs. He cut some wires which allowed us to get .9 mbs. A step up but we still had to pay for the 1.5 since the lower plan would be .75mbs. They would not reimburse us. Apparently we were pretty far from their office which caused our internet to be slow. My parent's upgraded to their U Verse fiber optics internet in Nov 2011. Sofar there are no complaints. Netflix runs fine, we are able to watch you tube, and my brother can even play games online. I believe they have the 12.5 mbs, but not sure. Just watch out for hidden fees, and they will charge you if they need to do work inside the house vs outside. Overall not that bad, just feels like they try to charge you for something at every turn. read more

Overall I had a good experience here getting my iPhone and DSL internet set up. Derrick, the salesperson, had fantastically manicured hands; oh, he was quite knowledgeable about the technical side of their services as well. They got me a discount rate on Elite DSL and a free Wifi router (probably pretty standard procedure, but at least they made me feel like I was getting a deal). I went with a friend who had just lost her iPhone, but they were more than accommodating with our extended stay as we both got set up with new phones. read more

This store is NOT about customer service. I went in there with a simple desire to get a sliding phone with my 2-year upgrade. They proceeded to sell me an iPhone under several false pretenses, e.g. it's only $15 per month for data, and you don't need to pay for texting. That's false. If you want texting it's another $15 per month. After realizing that I wasn't willing to pay for the iPhone I tried to back out but they said it was too late and I had to pay 10% of the value of the phone. They then raved about the Samsung Evergreen, and it seemed to be the sort of sliding phone I wanted, so I took it. This has been by far the worst phone I've ever had. It routinely turns itself off when people call or text me rather than, say, ringing as it's supposed to. I tried to get these people at AT&T to give me a different phone, but they would not since I'd already "tried" the iPhone and you only get to try 2 phones before deciding which to use for 2 years. They instead gave me a new battery (charging me for it later on my bill!) and then a new Evergreen which has the same exact problem. They won't let me switch to another phone, even one worth much less money, and their customer service is abysmal. If you call their service center, be prepared to wait at least 10 min on hold each time, give the same exact info over and over as they forget it or lose your file, and have the call dropped when they put you on hold. You better believe I'm counting the days till this contract is up so I can go to Verizon. read more

I had a great experience at this AT&T store, after failing at another. It was crowded, but the store was very efficient. The manager and sales person I worked with were excellent. (Ty was the sales person). Customer service was excellent, and everyone was cordial and polite. Despite the crowds, I didn't detect any other customers waiting long or not happy about service. I recommend this store, and I would return to it in a heartbeat. Pros: + Efficient on a busy day + Customer service was excellent + Excellent recommendations, not always the most expensive either! There's pros and cons. The salesman was really helpful and friendly. He answered all of my questions and even suggested a discount that I qualified for. However...... I was splitting my service from a family plan and I laid out the kind of plan I wanted. 900 minutes and unlimited text and data. I woke up one morning saying that I exceeded my texts. When I called I found out I have been paying 20 cents per text!! My boyfriend checked his bill and saw he is STILL paying for the family plan we used to have. I can't help but wonder if that's because the salesperson answered a call on his cell phone during our meeting...? ATT is not known for stellar customer service, but this experience stands apart. I ordered a phone online and had it sent to the store near Clark and Diversey. I was out of town when the phone arrived and I went to pick it up the day after I returned. They canceled my order because I didn't arrive quickly enough. No one bothered to call, text, or email to alert me that this would happen, otherwise I would have let them know I was coming in. I ended up in the back of the line at the store and waited patiently for 45 minutes while the only two reps helped other customers. After waiting all this time, another guy walks out of the back room looking like the manager. I explained the situation and expressed my frustration with the process. He then told me that he was not personally going to help me and that I had to wait for the rep. I told him this was ridiculous, why would he not be able to help a customer? He then told me he was going to refuse my business, so I left and went to the ATT store in Roscoe Village. I will never return to this store and I encourage you to do the same. read more

This review is solely for the service we received by Michael. The covid precautions here were great. As soon as we entered we were greeted and immediately placed in line. It wasn't until we were "cared" for by Michael. From the moment we sat down we felt rushed for time. Every question we asked seemed to be an inconvenience. I asked about the front line healthcare promotion they have, which also seemed to bother him, since both my mom and I are nurses. When he asked for more details about my plan specifically I didn't know the answers, so I had to call my brother. During the call, Michael proceeded to interrupt my call and tell me that people were waiting in line. Yes Michael, I see that people are in line, just as we were. Needless to say, we were able to pre order my mother her phone but I have decided to take my phone and business to another location given the poor customer service we were receiving from this individual. read more

I called ATT&T and was very disappointed in the cust. service I received over the phone so I decided to try my luck at a retail store. David greeted me when I walked in the door and although I had never met him before, the representative made me feel like a friend he was helping out. David related to my situation to personal experience. He made me feel like an actual person, not a number or someone he had to help because it's his job. After being completely fed up with Comcast, I decided with switch to AT&T. I had a hopeful gleam in my eye as I walked in the store, assuming they'd save the day. I signed up and pre-payed $100 and set up an installment date and left. The day before the installment date, I called the representative to tell him I had to change it due to work. He said it was no problem, but had lost me in the system, so I had to text him a picture of my receipt... Okay. During that phone call, he hung up without giving me a new installation date. I then called him 3 times, left 3 voicemails, and texted him to reschedule. I never heard back. I sent him an email explaining that I was canceling the payment of $100 and was leaving AT&T before ever really starting. I still have not heard back and it has been 3 days since the email. I am heartbroken with disappointment and confused about how this company has made it this far. We need more choices for Internet! Who is with me?! read more

Customer service does not exist. Very friendly and helpful in the selling but you are SOL if you're an existing customer. I have had 4 conversations about the same billing dispute. I had an AT&T plan. They contacted me about including an additional line (that I already have) into the same bundle. I said fine. AT&T made the change and then charged me $97.00 for "breaking" the contract. I called them and had the charge removed. Now it still appears on my statement making my account delinquent. I absolutely hate having to deal with anything related to electronics. It takes forever, something always gets messed up in the billing process and I feel pressured to buy crap I don't need. Not here. An account issue had occurred when someone at the AT&T flagship store tried to make a short cut on how my account was registered (my name but a different SSN? Makes bill paying hard). Kenya was able to take care of the issue with the help of Jerry and Mike, get me the iPhone 6 I wanted and even find a deal for a free tablet for me. This was a ridiculous experience. I went in the store to buy a phone after doing all the research online and knowing exactly what I wanted. I asked to buy a Note 8 and use the trade-in $300 credit offer. They told me that the phone could not be bought in full and had to be on an installment plan. They also said that the $300 credit could only be spent on in store merchandise and could not be used on my wireless bill. I have checked the terms and conditions online and the phone can be bought outright and the $300 credit can be used on the wireless bill. I confirmed all of this with an online chat representative. I guess they just did not want to sell me a phone. They did say that they couldn't help me because I came in wearing a packers shirt, but I thought they were joking. read more
