I paid approximately $200 to have my phone's screen repaired on Friday. The repair failed almost immediately. Right after I got the phone back, the physical buttons were not pressing or functioning properly--an issue that did not exist before the repair. Shortly after that, the replacement display catastrophically failed: the screen became badly discolored with a large black/dead area across the upper portion, making the phone essentially unusable. When I returned to have this addressed under warranty, I was told a very minor scratch on the device was the cause and that the repair would not be covered. The physical condition of the phone does not show any major impact damage proportional to a complete display failure, and I have photographs documenting both the failure and the minor mark that was cited. My interactions with Andrew and Rick made this worse. Both were dismissive and unhelpful, and rather than addressing that a newly installed screen failed within days, the focus seemed to be on finding a reason to deny responsibility. My computer's hard drive ran out of space & I did all I could to make room, but it kept filling up. Something called the Capabilities Access Manager had created a 160GB file of junk. I couldn't get rid of it, so I took it to a UbreakIfix on Chicago Ave in Chicago. I also had a problem with my page layout; words were pressing together and overlapping. They kept my computer overnight. I picked it up, they got rid of that file, and I had my HD space back!! I was pleased until I tried to do other stuff. I couldn't get into my settings to change the video. I took it back, they kept it 2 days, claimed they fixed it, but they didn't. It would take too long to tell you the two weeks of Hell I went through. I found out from my Google Artificial Intelligence that they fixed the first issue, but created many more by corrupting the Capabilities Access Manager program in Windows, which controls permissions and related settings. Every time I went to a website, I would always get a pop-up asking if it was OK. I couldn't get into my permissions to change it from ASK to ALLOW. Every time I tried to go to settings & change permissions, I was kicked out. This went on for 2 weeks. After hours of dealing with AI, we finally went in and deleted and rebuilt the CAM svc. I FIXED IT!!! Well, AI fixed it. I tried calling their home office to complain & I got some clown at Asurion who refused to even pay any attention because, according to him, UbreakIfix was a totally different company. I tried telling him Asurion OWNED them & he rejected that and claimed that was not true & there was nothing he could do. Finally, I tracked down a Florida location and called, but got a lady from the Philippines on the phone. She took my call, was very nice, and told me there was nothing she could do but would have someone call me. The next day, I got a lady on the phone, and I explained all the trouble. She offered me a refund of my $100. I told her I wanted $50. They did solve one problem, but I'll be damned if they get to keep all of it. So, I'm waiting on my $50. I hated the service, but the response after I finally got someone other than an idiot on the phone, who didn't even know who he worked for, was reasonable. The reason I went to them is that they had fixed a phone for me. I say use them at your own risk. The corporate customer service person in America did her job. She listened, apologized, and offered a solution. I was not pleased with the people in the store on Chicago. They lied to me and told me they had fixed the problems they caused and they didn't. Thomas helped me with my screen. I had a broken screen but needed to rest my iCloud password for my new phone! I couldn't remember my old password. I had lots of trouble trying to put my 75,000 plus pictures and other info on my new phone without my password to my iCloud account. A new iPhone 14 Pro Max screen is almost $400. Thomas quoted me $50 for a temporary screen that I could use in the store to rest my password. It took a few tries because when you try to rest your password in a different location it gives you an hour countdown to rest your password. You can't do it a few hours or mins later after the hour or it will restart the hour. It has to be an hour on the dot. Q made sure the cloud was backed up and let me rest my password then remove the temporary screen. They both were very helpful! Thanks a lot guys! I highly recommended them!!!!! read more

They're too complicated and a waste of time. I won't be breaking my fingers for nothing". Extremely rude tech, all I asked for was for a cleaning of some dust because the Wii wouldn't take any gaming disks in but didn't want to "break his fingers" over nothing. Great experience here! After apple refused to fix my swelling battery due to water damage in my otherwise perfectly functional iphone x, I was pretty frustrated. I got an appointment first thing the next morning here, and the battery was swapped out and fixed in about 2 hours while I ran other errands for $100. Since I started working from home, my Mac's battery seemed to last less and less as time passed. I took it to the Apple store and decided the battery was defective during their triage so they said they would send it out to replace it. After they shipped it to a separate Apple location (days later) they told me the logic board needed to be replaced as well and they wouldn't do one without the other, so the cost would come up to $500. So I told them to just return my device without repairs. I talked to uBreakiFix later that day and they told me all they had to do was order the battery and once it arrived they could get it done same day. By the time I got my device back from Apple, they had the battery and replaced it right away. They also checked my logic board and said there was just one USB port that wasn't getting any power but I can still use the laptop just fine. Horrible customer service and outrageous prices and in the end, I still have a broken device! I brought my Xbox in and paid $150 to get the HDMI port replaced. It worked for about 4 hours after bringing it home before it malfunctioned again. Since it was still under warranty, I brought it back to the store. When I returned, the "owner" Tom took less than 30 seconds to tell me we broke it and for that reason, he said in a rude and unprofessional manner that he would not give me a refund and would fix it for another fee of $150. Not a chance! The uBreakiFix corporate office was NOT willing to help me resolve my situation. Lesson learned! I hope others had better experience, but hope this serves as a warning that if there are other options, I would highly recommend those. read more

I'd never used a phone repair place before; usually I would just suck it up and buy a new phone because the one I broke was getting old anyway. But since I had gotten this phone fairly recently (and because new models are taking a month to ship), I figured I would try a repair when I accidentally shattered the screen on my Samsung Note. Jorge was great--very friendly and respectful of my time. He was upfront about the pricing, said they had the part in stock, and I should expect the repair to take 3-4 hours and then I could come grab it. It ended up taking less than two hours before I got the email saying the repair was done. I went to pick it up, and Jorge let me know that he'd replaced the screen *and* the metal frame and battery, which was a great unexpected bonus. Was it expensive? Sure, but what do you expect when you're repairing a $1000+ phone encased in glass? At the end of the day, I spent $300 and my phone ended up looking like new, with an extended usable life now that it has a new battery. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned, and I was completely satisfied with the whole experience (and not having to spend significant time without a phone). So I bought a Vintage Singer 66 Red Eye Machine and watched a bunch of YOUTUBE videos to find out how to oil it and get it up and running. So I decided to oil the bobbin winder. Now it didn't seem like it was too complicated a device, so I started to oil it. Then, 1 video said to loosen this screw, to relieve pressure on the belt. Well that was the wrong thing for me to do, because when I loosened that screw and the whole thing fell apart in my hands. I screamed 'cause it was like it just broke into 4 pieces. So I called Ubreakifix and spoke to Cory who was phenomenal! His customer service was excellent. He was patient and showed concern. Even thou this Bobbin Winder was 111 years old he was able to put it back together and you can see from the photo's where I was able to put it back on the machine. I signed up for the home on-site service online and had a super nice tech out to my house. About an hour after my screen replacement, it stopped being touch sensitive. My email said to take it to the nearest location with any problems, so I called the Logan Square store and the guy who answered the phone told me he couldn't fix it before the holidays and that I should call Asurion (which I had already tried to do, and when I told him this, he told me that's because everyone is trying to repair their screens so their families don't judge them over the holidays). I started to ask if he was telling me there was no way I'm going to get it fixed in the next week, but he kept talking over me, and I literally had to just say "ok goodbye" and hang up because I couldn't get a word in edgewise. It was one of the rudest customer service interactions I've had in years. SO, then I looked at my initial confirmation email, realized it was from the South Loop location, called, spoke to Tom, the owner, and he was awesome. He sent Quinn (the other owner- it's a family business) out to me in less than 3 hours and we got my phone back up and running easy peasy. They were SO NICE and fast. Tom and Ryan did superb job turning around a replacement for the battery in my Pixel 4 XL in under 90 minutes. Note this is a franchise location, and I think the customer service and attention to detail is much much better than the corporate owned locations. Note that the uBreakiFix call center will schedule visits at locations that do not use scheduling, and run only as walk in, first come, first serve! This happened to me, the corporate call center scheduled me for a 10 am appointment at the Clybourn Ave location (corporate owned). There was no such appointment. And although the call center assured me they had checked to be sure that location had the battery in stock, they had not. Would always call the local store directly to finalize arrangement -- ask the call center to transfer you there if needed. I needed to have the charging port replaced on an out- of-warranty/service plan iPad. I could see from an enlarged photo one of the pins was bent, preventing the iPad from charging. The repair cost matched the estimate (about a third if the cost of having Apple do the work), and the work was done sooner than the estimate - both pluses. This company does not respond to you when you contact them. I have sent emails , contacted them on Messenger and Twitter and they have not responded to any of those. My friend dropped his phone off over 2 weeks ago and they've failed to send out anything about the status of his repair. Yes they did say that it would take time to get needed parts for the phone but they still could have sent a simple message about how the process was going.
