The good of this store is the convenience and location. Luis is very knowledgeable and engaged in the needs of the customer. Then there is Donna. She has no customer skills or understanding of the frustration that comes with needing assistance. Although she was able to help resolve my phone issue, her responses to my questions were very short and comes off as abrasive. Her demeanor is "having no time to deal with this". She does not have a welcoming approach and for Pete's sake, wearing your sunglasses indoors on your head while you are working gives the vibe that she is on her way out to lunch. Last time I was at this store was back in March 2025. I had a great experience with one of the guys there and I was in and out with my new iPhone 16 pro at the time. However, I tried going in to trade in my iPhone 16 pro for the 17 pro, because I was so excited. The gal said she couldn't help me trade it in cuz my account was locked. So I unlocked it, and she said I have to wait 24 hours to get the new 17 pro. I was really pissed off about it, because it didn't made sense. So I went to the AT&T store in riverbank, hoping to get the 17 pro and I was in and out of there with the new 17 pro. I explained my situation to the sales associate at the Riverbank location, and she said I should've been able to get the 17 pro right on the spot at the Mchenry store after unlocking my account. I asked the gal at the Mchenry location if I could speak to her manager cuz I really wanted the 17 pro and it didn't make sense that I have to wait 24 hours after I unlocked my account, but apparently the manager was "not there". I have a love-hate relationship with a t and t. They recently decided they're going to stop and discontinue the usage of 3-g phones. Fortunately enough for me they replaced my daughter's free of charge. We went in to transfer her phone number over to the new phone, and the worker there acted like it was a huge inconvenience to her. She also spoke to me in a condescending manner. But then, all I had to do was have them move my SIM card to my new phone and the guy was very polite and did it very quickly. Oh my goodness, was having problems with my Apple phone and my provider is ATT, went to the McHenry store and was warmly greeted by Noel. He asked what he could do for me and when I whined about my problems, he took my phone, gently explained it wasn't my fault and checked everything. Within 10 minutes he rebooted all my programs and straightened it all. He was helpful, friendly and explained the problem. He is a jewel and an asset. I took my older neighbor to get his new wireless device for his landline upgraded because 3g is being phased out. The salesman, Galeb, persuaded us to buy a "simple" flip-phone instead. I asked if there was an instruction booklet included and he said there was. My neighbor got the phone home and had a really hard time figuring out how to work everything. I tried to help him, but that crazy little phone is ridiculously difficult to navigate and there actually was no real instruction booklet, just a fold-out paper with basic instructions. Nothing about navigating or what the different icons mean. My neighbor has never had a cellphone or computer, so it was important that the phone be easy to use. It wasn't. We returned to the store the next day to return the phone and complete the activation process for the landline upgrade. The salesman, Galeb, was rude, telling us over and over how simple it actually is, and asking what, specifically, is difficult about it. It truly felt insulting to hear him talk about how easy it is to use. We finally convinced him that we didn't want the phone and completed the transaction, but they charged my friend, who lives on soc. sec., a $50.00 restocking fee. He had the phone for 1 day! AND was told that it was simple and had an instruction booklet! That's bad enough, but then when we were leaving the parking lot I backed up to and bumped into another vehicle. I went into the store to find the vehicle owner and she came out and checked it out. Her vehicle was fine. Mine had a small chip broken out of the taillight. She was very nice, and was satisfied that her vehicle was fine. She started to head back into the store when the salesman that had been so rude to my friend and I, Galeb, said to her, "oh, she jammed your bumper into the body! It's gonna cost about 1500. to get that fixed!" She said no probem, she'd get her husband to fix it. If there was a problem it was extremely minor. We've been customers of this specific AT&T McHenry Village Store since shortly after it's grand opening because of it fantastic professional customer service and product inventory on display. I was absolutely shocked to see how far down the hill this long established AT&T Store has dropped! Our most recent visit was an early weekday afternoon with more AT&T store representatives than customers yet we had to wait for nearly an hour while employees were carrying on personal conversations amongst themselves, checking their text messages (and yes I know the difference between a personal text screen and someone texting back and forth and someone performing customer service on an AT&T Business screen), and still others in the backroom ignoring waiting customers. When we finally did get service I never saw a more disinterested employee in their customer's needs and inquiries. This is unacceptable! Also in addition this store now has an unwelcoming and empty appearance now. It's product and accessories display inventory is half that of just a few years ago. I realize all things change but sadly for this long established AT&T Store it was for the worse. read more

I was in the area and on the road so I thought Id stop in and pay my bill real quick. I walked in here, I was not greeted by one sales associate nor was I asked if I needed help with anything. The girl at the counter for customer service was on the phone, she seen me standing in the middle of the store just looking around trying to make eye contact with an associate to help me and when I approached her and asked if there was someone that could help me she just stuck her finger up in the air and continued talking on the phonen and would never sayba word to me during my brief visit. I understand stores get busy but there is always a few seconds an associate could spare to greet a customer and let them know they will be helped shortly but I just stood around for about 15 minutes and watched a few other customers waiting with blank looks on their face. Honestly Ive always had issues with this place. Today was the last time Ill come here I dont care if its only a block away from my house, Ill drive to the next town if I have to just to avoid this AT&T store, I wasted too many hours of my life buying phones, accessories and paying bills. Any services offered here should literally take a few minutes but I always end up spending a 30-60 minute wait just to pay a bill and then there was times other purchases and situations costed me literally hours per visit, sometimes multiple visits in one day just to get my problem taken care of. Rude lady with glasses. My husband and I went today 6/5/20 at Mchenry, Modesto branch at around 745 pm and the lady who greeted us told us that only 1 of us can come in. She should explain in a professional way that that was the stores policy instead of being rude. My husband was going to buy me an iPhone pro max as a gift... I needed to see how it looks ( color wise) and he was going to pay for it. Instead of working with the situation, she just flatly said No.... Not one to normally do this, but I just left this store with the worst customer service ever. I walked in to stand up front for 5-10 min listening to a rep belittle a senior that was confused on his billing. After waiting for this time another rep removed himself to walk over to tell the co worker that I'm waiting and to wrap it up. He then came to me with the same attitude that I heard with the senior, he asked how can I help you and I replied I want to get my watch connected to my service plan (want to give more $$ to AT&T). I advise going to the AT&T store only if it is absolutely necessary. The employees are nice enough but there is a problem with the long wait time for assistance. We waited at least 20 minutes to be helped and then it turned out the store is out of stock on most items so we ended up spending more than we wanted to just to get phone upgrades. It only takes one bad apple to ruin it for everyone. With that said, I have had previous good experiences at this ATT store. However, last July I was in the store to upgrade my phone. After speaking with someone about using my upgrade I was told that I couldn't just upgrade any longer and had to switch to the NEXT plan. With doing that I would forgo my unlimited plan that I was grandfathered into years ago. After speaking with a supervisor this information seemed to be my only option since I was told that "unlimited data plans were being phased out and everyone would be on a NEXT plan soon". After thinking about it I reluctantly went ahead with it since I needed a phone. My mother in law just upgraded her phone a few weeks ago and she also has an unlimited data plan so I pre-warned her that she would have to switch to a NEXT plan. She came home with a new phone and her old plan. I was so furious and went to the store she went to and was told nothing could be done from the store and I should call customer service to try to get back my old plan. The next day I was informed that I went over the 10GB shared data and I was charged $15. I just got off the phone with customer service and needless to say I was not given my old plan but they compensated me by giving me an additional 5GB in order for me to not go over my data limit. I have been an ATT customer for 15+ years and now I feel like I was lied to give up a plan that I will never be able to have again. Although customer service helped me the best they could, I don't think I can stay in a contract with a company that employs people that deceive others or not knowledgeable about their job. Be aware of what is told to you at this store. You may be not getting the full truth. If I could, I would've given 0 stars to the customer service at this store. read more

Ugh! Almost too frustrated to even yelp. I went in there yesterday to order the new Iphone. I mention to the agent about how my old phone only works on speaker, no big deal.. I'll continue to deal with it while I wait for my new phone to arrive. She immediately tries to sell me on some apple ( no pun intended) size speaker to solve my problem. I'm not interested but give her credit for trying to up sale, just not sure that particular product was very related to what we had just discussed. Anyways, I went in knowing what I wanted so she completes the order and I leave. I go to check my e-mail on my device only to find out that I don't have a data plan. What? I call the store and someone quickly tells me to restart my phone and then ends the conversation. Nothing. I call back and am quickly instructed to check settings by someone else and if not that, they can't help me and rambles off some 800- apple number to call & click. Really?!?! I text the agent that helped me and receive a long text that pretty much tells me that because of an error on her part I have to wait for my phone to come in the mail and then I'll have data. I called customer care and after over an hour of being on the phone with this very helpful man, still nothing. He apologizes over and over but he can not fix her error. I guess, I 'm stuck waiting for my new phone to come in the mail because from the sounds of it my data plan is on that phone and they are unable to change the IMEI number without that phone in my hand. I've been an AT&T customer for years. This store is very "hit or miss" when it comes to customer service. The wait is always lengthy and the employees aren't always the warmest. Went into the store Friday to inquire about a phone upgrade and to get info about their new home security service. After waiting patiently for over half an hour...my name dropped off the waiting list and they took another customer. Granted the lady at the door was willing to put me back on the list so I could wait again (how kind of her)...I left and went across the street to the Parrot Wireless AT&T store. I was in and out...with my purchases and the information I needed very quickly. I've also been: lied to about my phone plan in the store...talked down to...treated rudely...yet I keep going back because of my company discount. He went well beyond his duties. *Long shipping expectations were set for Gold Iphone5s, this is not reflective of the stores service; however Alberto was clear and concise as to when I should expect to receive the phone. Second service date was early November on a Saturday. No appointment is not a good idea, the service ran into our dinner plans. Two accounts were left open by the associate and the order for an accessory never arrived. Third service was today, November 11th at time of opening, much better service. This store has the worst customer service I've ever encountered. A few weeks ago I came in because I needed a modem replaced right away. I work in IT and was purchasing it for a client of mine. I walked in and was able to purchase the modem decently quickly. I had to wait while the guy you was going to help me waited until someone else could come to stand by the door. That was the first weird experience here. I ended up needing to return the modem I bought. So I figured I'd just go by and do the same thing: walk in, return it. Crazy thought right? I am greeted at the door and my info is taken. The person says someone will be with me shortly. I asked how long it wold be, and am told 30-45 minutes! So they want me to sit in their store for close to an hour, so I can return an item. I just don't understand this system at all. The greeter says I can make an appointment to come back, but my schedule is erratic and I usually don't know exactly when I have time. The whole concept is ridiculous anyways, because why should I have to schedule an appointment to return merchandise? I leave and try coming back in the morning, hoping it would be less busy. The wait is still 30 minutes, and am given the same spiel as last time. I will never come here again. I ended up going to the store on Sisk Road and they actually had time to help me. Moral of the story is....don't go to this store if you only have a few minutes, you will spend your entire day here. read more

Terrible experience today at the McHenry at&t store, the manager was very helpful but the store associate that greeted me switched out my flip phone for an old one and tried to make me think that I brought in my mother's old flip phone ,I was getting the SIM card activated for her new flip phone , the old one went through the washing machine and dryer at the hospital it never came home with us, this was a brand new flip phone because that's what she prefers to use, and I get home not only is it a older flip phone, it's all scratched up and there's no SIM card ,when I took the new phone into at&t store with a new SIM card in phone,yes I saw the manager scan it over his iPad for this one time only activation,but the store associate walked off with my phone for a few minutes, I didn't think much about it, but switched out my new flip phone for one that was a bunk one, don't ever let them walk off with your old phone or a new phone for any reason, make sure you keep the phone in your vision at all times, anything they need to do with it ,they can come to you ,or they can go get what they need ,and come back ,but don't let your vision off of your new phone if you take it in there to get it activated, so when I got home I immediately called them to tell them that the phone had no SIM card in it ,even though the manager did have my phone with the SIM card I saw him scan it but when the store associate had it after it was activated,all of a sudden it's a different phone and he's trying to convince me that I brought in my mother's old phone ,because I had told them the reason the new for the new phone and sim card activation,was due to her previous phone had been put through the washer and dryer at the Hylond rehabilitation care home where she had been for the last three weeks, so I had bought a new phone and new sim card, took them to the McHenry store , now I know why the store associate was trying to convince me that I must have brought in the water damaged phone, because when I got back to mom's theres a dead battery , no SIM card and there were scratches on it that were not on the phone that took into that store, and the old phone did not leave Hylond with mom because it did not work, but the store associate was like, are you sure you didn't bring in your mom's old phone. After this experience, mom closed out her account. I will not ever use at&t and mom will not ever have service with them again. Oh when I called the store , the manager basically said oh well,have a nice day, like I was just making up a story, I hope that the store associate gets caught at some point , I m sure he's done this before and he will do it again. read more
