If there is something you want they will try to get it. They are informative, honest and fairly priced. Wow! Amazing customer service! Dude really came through and saved the day for me! I am 3 days into my college semester and my computer stopped working. Unfortunately so did my car. I had to drop my car off in the shop and have no choice but to work from home because my school is so far. I went everywhere trying to find someone to help fix my computer since I have been trying for the last 2 days. I aaa scared I would get dropped from my classes. I begged and cried for help to everyone, but they wasted my time and tried to rip me off. So I finally ended up here and this man at first said he would have the time to help me today, but I broke down crying and begging him to help me, so he decided he would. In the end I walked out with a working computer so that I can get right back on my school work. He was so honest and nice. He also hooked me up with a great deal. (Is what they should be called) I actually found them on the Offer up app. And figured I'd sell a few gaming "stuff" I had laying around for some good "change"...change as in "foldable bills" that I can make a fair amount of money in for my almost new items. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! I skipped going to game stop because I knew from previous experiences, they don't give you nearly as much cash and they want to make 100% profit off your items. (You know what I'm talking about, look it up on the tube) So my items were: 2 New black 2019 ps4 controllers.(no visible damage anywhere,like new) And a good condition PS vita. (Not broken,not damaged,with memory card and charger. Minor scuff on corners but overall 9/10) Here's the story.... Guy says: "realistically, how much you want?" I said: "$60 for controllers, $70 vita... (so $130 for all your math majors out there). Guy says : "i sell controllers for $20...sometimes $15...and the vita I just sold one for 75...." "I'll give you $25 for both controllers and $30 vita" I said: ..." you have 1 ps4 controller on offer up for $40 and it's in worse condition then mine.... I'll keep the vita and give me $60 for both controllers." Guy says : "let me talk to my. Boss and see what he says ......says $75 for everything...." I said"you guys want to make 120% profit on these things and I'm not desperate. I'm not living on the streets or anything and these are not stolen....and NO thanks...." I walk out to my truck and I look up and I see the same exact guy that helped me on the roof of the building lmao I'm like wtf?? This might be my quickest review but the service here is on point and has to be heard. Came in to try and find an outdated 12v dc charging cord. This is a cord for a portable DVD player I'm trying to find because we lost ours. We have searched all the major stores with no luck, which sounds right since it's not a commonly used cord. So aI am driving down Mchenry Blvd and find a gem of a place in the cuts of Modesto. Not sure if this place has what I need, but I still venture inside for a try. Long story short they could not. As I first walk in there was an employee outside smoking his cigarette on a break I am sure. He quickly got off the phone, then started to help us. He introduced himself and shook my hand which is not the norm anymore. Afterwards he was super attentive to all our needs and tried his best to find the cord we needed. They have lots of different new and used electronics to choose from along with cords. I've never seen an employee run through a store to try and get what I want like he did. He felt bad when he couldn't find our needs and gave plenty of advice to us to help us find what we were looking for. Overall, this was my first time in this gem which seems to buy and sell electronics. The customer service is awesome and plenty of options if your looking for something cool. Btw.. They were fast with the response and very helpful. I was going to buy a used Playstation 4 controller from gamestop, which was $49.99. At that rate I might as well buy a new one for ten more dollars. First time coming here was amazing. Second and third time not helpful at all. They sold me a charger that only lasted 2 weeks. Whoever was the person who sold me the charger knowing it wouldn't last more than a week, shouldn't be working there. This place sells cheap china cords cheap but won't last. The person who helped me last was not helpful at all, was willing to sell me another charger but wouldn't want to help In any other way. Don't buy cheap china stuff from this place because there's no warranty. If they sell original charger buy those instead. My fault for getting cheap chargers from them. This is a long overdue review. My funds are limited, so I don't so much buy a new computer every few years, but put a few hundred dollars every few years into component upgrades, and smaller replacements when things conk out. Quite some time ago, my USB controller on my motherboard died, so I had to install a USB expansion card. No big deal, but on Good Friday, 2014 THAT conked out. Now I've been limping along on this motherboard for years -- and it is not the most modern. I needed a USB card that used the legacy PCI bus. I drove all over Modesto that day looking for this, admittedly slightly outmoded expansion card. Many promising places were closed, it being Good Friday. The places that were open that did not have the part would direct me to a promising store ... which would then direct me elsewhere. I had only been living in Modesto a short time, and I learned much of the town geography that day! Finally a guy at Radio Shack told me about Gadget Exchange. When I walked in, I knew I had the right kind of place -- it reminded me a bit of the hobbyist electronics stores of times past -- only stocked with consumer goods instead of components to build your own stuff. When I described what I needed, a young man, that honestly reminded me of myself, 2 or 3 decades past, encouragingly said, "I think we may have that!" He pulled out a small cardboard box with a jumble of expansion cards (to someone like me, such a sight is MOST EXCELLENT). But alas, no card of the type I needed was found. I looked crestfallen, sighed and began to walk out. The young-geek-with-much-potential stopped me and said, "there is another place to look!" at which point he went to the front of the store, and to a pile of old computer cases, which he began taking the covers off, looking for a PCI bus USB card .. and found one. He cannibalized the old machine, and held aloft the sought after card most triumphantly. Then... well like I said, I am of limited means, and had very limited funds at my disposal. The initial asking for price was barely just over what I had (by only a few dollars). They brought the price down for me, and I walked out, card in hand. That same card, that the mouse I used to navigate this site RIGHT NOW is plugged into. I promised a Yelp Review, and a customer for life. So i left Best Buy from Sacramento to drive all the way to modesto because the deal was great! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE!! RUN!!!!! I am SOO surprised at the good reviews this place has, which is why I went there. I am soo disappointed and MAD at how they have serviced me from the beginning. They DO NOT stand behind their work at all, and turn it to blame all of it on you somehow so they don't have to own up to any responsibility. I came in with a cracked screen Sony Phone. I paid almost $180 when all was done to have the screen replaced with a new one. And less then 2 months later my screen started glitching and stopped working, I could see on the side that the screen had lifted and took it in. I specifically asked them to fix it free of charge since I had just had them replace it, and it obviously looked like screen they had put on was malfunctioning or defective. All they did was put weight on the phone and call it fixed. When i picked it up, it was not working again, I looked on the side and could see the screen lifted from the phone AGAIN, so I asked what they did to fix it, and they told me they put weight on it, that's it!!! And that there was nothing they could do because when you put these new screens on it, the phones don't tend to last very long and that the adhesives aren't that good on them. REALLY?? And you tell me this AFTER I paid you over $180!!! No owning up to the fact that they can clearly see they sold me a defect screen, and making it right??? ....If you need a phone fixed, go to Vintage Faire Mall. They do a 1 YEAR WARRANTY! Not just long overdue, also many times over - The gadget exchange isn't just succeeding as a small business, it's succeeding as a genuine positive force for change in our community. I am on SSI and a student at MJC. At times, homeless even. I have had to take the same laptop I got an awesome deal on to ace my finals, back just to eat and live. I have had the awesome fortune of being treated like a human being, every time - and not because I enjoy any special relationship with anybody, but because the standard with which they conduct business is beyond "ethical," truly practical, in the sense... like a good neighbor, more so than a business. I couldn't even express my gratitude to the owner, contrasting the affordability between another local shop - WITHOUT HIM SPEAKINGTO THEIR CHARACTER, and insisting on their good reputation. This isn't just the sort of "business" you want in your town, it's the way of life we want for our kids and our community. I don't have to worry about being had, or any member of my family, young or old. If something isn't absolutely perfect - they just make it right. I had sim card stuck in my tablet and was told $10.00 charge to discover, then if needed to be replaced would call me first. Well after two days fee of $25.00 but said didn't need to replace got it working for new card. Well I get new card and T-mobile says they didn't want to put in take it back. So when I did now he says its working but thinks its on my end and need to activate. Go back again and tell him its not reading any sims card well now he says when he opened the 1st time to take card out he didn't notice damage and it can't be fixed. But now I have a scratched up tablet and out $25.00 not to mention how many times I had to go back and forth. I'm reporting to better business and be very careful if you go there. Had the misfortune of breaking the belt clip on my phone holster for the 100th time. I didn't want to go through the hassle of ordering a new holster online and wait for a week to receive it. I remember having driven by a couple of cell "repair" places down the road and decided to drop by and ask to see if they could help me. All I got were rude vendors trying to browbeat me into buying their crappy phone holsters which were cheaper in quality and not what I needed in the first place. After trying a couple of spots, I decided on my way out of town I'd try this place as a last resort. I'm so glad I gave this place a try. Josh who is one of the owners was the first person to greet me at the door with a smile a friendly welcome. He immediately inquired how he could be if help and didn't hesitate to jump into action looking through some retired inventory from where he could locate what I wad looking for. Not only did Josh help me locate a replacement part, he even installed it at no extra charge... talk about going above and beyond 110%. While waiting for the replacement part to be located I had a chance to check out his electronic devices and equipment. The merchandise he carries is in good condition and priced very fairly. I will definitely keep Josh and his shop in mind next time I have a need for a gently used phone, laptop or even a repair. Even before handing over payment for the replacement / repair Josh didn't want me to leave his shop unsatisfied with my purchase. I was referred to this business by a friend and I cannot say enough positive about my experience there. Khalil, the proprietor, was incredibly knowledgeable, and went very far above the initial small item that I had come to purchase. He performed several extra services for me beyond what he charged me for, and was wonderful about helping me understand my product.
