Sept 16 was the first day the 14 was made available. Opted to pick it up at the store. Staff at the door was very prompt in letting all who were there to pick up their new phones to enter the store and directed us to the tables with the staffs ready to help. He led me to Vince (I hope I got the name right. Super friendly guy and asked if I needed help in settling up or if I had any questions. Another staff came from the back of the store and handed him my new toy. He went "Wow!! 1 TB?!! Nice!!" I told him I had been surviving with the measly 64GB since 2017. Yes, I had an X. Just like my X would dictate what storage I should and could get, he said then "you do not need more than a 64GB!" I had to listen even though I paid for my own X. My bestie said yesterday that was so extreme, from a 64GB to going ham with a 1TB! I told her that happened when people got repressed for so many years. So yes, I got what I wanted for the first time and I am happy!! To that abusive being, if you are reading this.. I hope you would not stalk me ever again on Yelp or anywhere else. Karma may be busy at this moment, but eventually they would come for you and you would deserve what you have done to me all these years. Sorry fellow yelpers for trauma dumping on a Sunday evening! Life moves on and it is always best without any toxicity! Back to this store, I walked in and left happily with my well-deserved 14 Pro. He plugged it into a charger for thirty seconds, saw it doesn't work, then said I have no idea what's going on with your phone. He's supposed to be an expert. Then he said to open the phone I need to pay a minimum of 250 dollars just to proceed. He called it free diagnostic but it's not free. If there's more damage he'll call me with additional charges. If I don't agree to pay more, I still have to pay the 250 dollar minimum cost just for opening the phone. That's not a free diagnostic. That's a scam. Don't go there. Update after the owner's reply: His reply confirms my complaint. In the store he told me to my face that he had no idea what was wrong with my phone. He never said the word motherboard. Yet in writing he now claims he diagnosed a "motherboard-related power issue." If he had actually found that, he would have said so in person. He did not, because all he did was plug my phone into a charger. By his own words, any real diagnosis requires opening the phone, and that only happens after I pay 250 dollars toward a repair. So the free diagnostic tells you nothing. You cannot find out what is wrong without paying first. That is the whole problem. He also says the visit was recorded. I was never told I was being recorded. If he truly has that recording, post it. It will show he told me he had no idea what was wrong, and that 250 dollars was required before he would even open the phone.
