What a wonderful experience, in every regard. I'm gonna do bullet points to make sure I cover everything: 1) Someone greets you with a smile as you walk in. I'm not sure how often they're here, but you might also get to meet a couple absolutely lovely golden retrievers too! 2) The selection is very large, varied, well-lit, and easy to peruse. You will very very very likely find something that appeals to you here. They also have carpets in a wide variety of sizes, which we found frustrating at a couple other furniture/carpet places. 3) The staff give out plastic clips. Everyone gets a different color. You can put your color clip on anything that catches your eye as you're shopping, so you can come back to it easily. Nice idea! 4) Service Service Service. Very friendly and helpful people here. All questions answered promptly, lots of gentle check-ins with zero sales pressure. I was concerned about the carpet fitting in my sub-compact hatchback, but they helped us fit in in my car super easy. 5) Price - we thought prices were competitive and reasonable. Their current 20% off sale makes that even more so. 6) The in-person experience. Their website is right. You really shouldn't buy a carpet on the internet. You have no idea how accurate the colors will be, or how the pattern will look when the rug is 10 feet by 13 feet vs 3x5 inches on your computer screen. Also importantly, you won't know how it actually FEELS. The staff understand this. We had essentially chosen the carpet we wanted, but they sales guy suggested that we see how it looked on the floor, so he took it down for us. Lemme tell you, we still ended up choosing that carpet, but seeing it on the floor did put it "in a different light". I really appreciated how everyone wanted to make sure we left with something we were happy with. And we really did! If you are serious about buying an area rug, I would definitely include At Home in the Valley in your shopping route (in fact, I would start here). read more

This business is a scam. Come here only if you want to get scammed out of your hard earned money and dealing with hidden and undisclosed fees. The rug padding was cut to the incorrect size for the rug we ordered- which for a $275 padding, it should be the right size. After the rug install, the guy demanded $280 in CASH for rug installation that was never discussed or brought up. No receipts, no invoice! He refused to leave our property and started harassing us until we paid. If we knew ahead of time that there would be a $280 rug installation fee, we would have done it ourselves! Very sketchy to not explain the fee upfront, no invoice, and no receipts! Would not recommend doing business with them. read more

We came here looking for a new bedroom rug. Although we didn't see anything that worked for us, there are plenty of rugs to see. The salesperson was really helpful and listened to what we were looking for. They made some suggestions and discussed what rug makers are making these days, (spoiler alert, plenty of 3.5 x 5.5 ft. rugs, but not so many 4 x 6 ft.). Today I stopped by "At Home In The Valley." I went there to purchase 6 big rugs. Upon entering the business, they had two giant dogs running loose inside their business, one of which was aggressive and barking at me as he charged me. I was so afraid as having previously been a victim of a dog attack. So, I expressed to the owners that I had a fear of huge dogs, the owner simply said, "Oh , they don't bite," all the while one of the huge dogs repeatedly was charging toward me. It got to the point that I was cornered and had to grab one of their black chair to keep distance between me and the aggressive dog. The female owner who was sitting behind the desk attempted to help me, but she severely handicap and could barely walk in her attempt to get the dog to retreat but the dog didn't listen to her. Then another older gentleman who looked to be in his 90's rolled up in a motorized wheel chair made his way over and grabbed the aggressive dog by the leash all the while I was screaming. Let me not forget there were two other useless younger men who obviously worked there, just standing there watching it happen and they could see that I was visibly in fear and terrified. Yet one of them did nothing, while the other guy did grab and hold the other huge dog. What ever happen to putting your customer's safety first. Both owners appear to be handicap, so why have dogs in their establishment that they clearly have no control over. The dog didn't listen to any of their commands to retreat, he just kept coming at me barking. While the older gentleman was holding the aggressive dog, I quickly ran out of their business and left. I will never step foot in that business again, and I'm posting this so others are aware. This business does not take customers safety into consideration. If they choose to have dogs in their business, 1) They should be trained, and 2) They should have them on a leash so they can keep them far away from customers, as not everyone like big dogs. I literally thought I was going to be bitten, it was beyond terrifying. I was shaking and my heart was racing so fast, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I would not recommend this business to anyone wanting to shop without having to watch your back from being attacked or bitten. People need to understand that animals are unpredictable and for them to say "they don't bite," that's until they bite someone. Perhaps it will take them getting sued to leave such huge dogs like that at home. It was a terrible and scary experience, and the lack of respect they showed toward a customer, no thank you, I'll spend my money elsewhere, because that was ridiculous! read more

When we walked in we were immediately greeted by an employee and the stores resident canine. The store is huge with every style and size of rug you could imagine. We were told that if they didn't have the size rug we needed, they could cut a larger rug to our specifications. After a couple hours, we found the perfect rug. We stumbled upon this place based on a recommendation from a carpet cleaning place we thought sells carpets. Even though they did to some extent, they specialize more in the cleaning of carpets than the sale of carpets. Upon walking into the store, we are at awe at the selection of carpets. We were helped immediately helped by the floor staff and they helped us choose the correct carpet for our needs. They answered all of our questions and allowed us to see multiple carpets on the floor before leaving with one. Will definitely be going back here for all of our carpeting needs going forward. Bought an area rug pad from here and feel so sick that I didn't look it up from other stores online. This was supposedly "25% off" yet it was nearly DOUBLE the price of every other store that sells it. You can't return it at all unless you want store credit. So come here if you want to get ripped off. The pad itself so far has stunk up my entire house and is fuming with chemicals. We're airing it out but can't remain in the house because our chests hurt being near it. Hoping the smell dissipates. read more

So happy to have found this gem in the valley! I had been trying to replace our 8X5 foot area rug in our kitchen for months. Got one from overstock.com but the color was off ( so hard to know from an online photo) so had to return it which was not convenient or affordable. Then I yelped and found "At home in the valley"! YES!!!! So many rugs of all sizes and colors etc... I needed one that was all one color, no patterns as our kitchen is very busy with granite laid into the tile floors. Thank you specifically to Eric our salesman who was kind, PATIENT and so helpful. We found the exact style, size and color we were searching for AND it was on sale AND there was 24 hour return policy so if it didn't work out I could just bring it back the next day. My wife dragged me to At Home in the Valley to help her pick out a rug, a task for which I am totally unqualified. Nevertheless, I grudgingly agreed to go expecting the experience to be as painful as a trip to the Mall. It was anything but! It was a textbook demonstration of what exceptional, World Class, service is supposed be all about! The TV ad talks about "Too many rugs! Way too many rugs!" and, that's 100% correct. The selection is overwhelming! But, what it doesn't talk about are the people! Eric, the young man that helped was could have been working at Tiffany's or on Rodeo Drive. He was knowledgeable, patient and more helpful than even he probably realizes. Couple that with great prices and it was an incredible experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a rug (Or, may be interested in a crash course in Customer Care!) read more

I wish I could post 0 STARS While I agree there is a huge number of rugs, the customer service and quality of the cutters they use leave MUCH to be desired! 1. The area rug I purchased ($1499.00 on sale for $899.40) needed to be cut to fit my space. (cut and serge cost:$200). The rug is not "square". It is off almost 3/4 inch from one end to the other.....on both sides which had been cut! This discrepancy could not be noticed in the store but is VERY apparent in my dining room!! 2. I was charged a cutting fee ($15 !) for the the pad I purchased ($224.62). Good grief...who charges a cutting fee? 3. The pad was larger than the area rug and I had to cut it so it wouldn't show! So, I paid $1466.23 for an 8 X 12 area rug and pad. Since there was sufficient yardage leftover to make a runner, I called the store to ask the price to do so. The woman (manager?) said it was her opinion that the cost would be excessive for what I would get. When she gave me the quote, I agreed but I ASKED for the remnants. When I went to see the finished area rug, and asked for the remnants, I was told the cutters threw away the extra yardage which I had ASKED FOR.....and FOR WHICH I HAD PAID! When I stated I HAD asked for the remnants, all I received was an excuse (the person on the phone should have noted/written down my request) and a less-than-sincere apology! Should I have been offered some sort of refund? What do you think? So, beware if you shop here. Bring a tape and measure your area rug AT THE STORE if you had it cut. Be sure the pad is cut correctly (or have a box cutter with a new blade and heavy cardboard or a piece of wood to cut on if you are going to do this at home). Shop here again??? NEVER! Tell all my friends not to shop here? YOU BET! RESPONSE TO OWNER: 1 I was in the store when you told me you didn't have the 2 (TWO) remnants there and the own/manager er would have to call the cutter the next day to see if they had indeed thrown them away. We did discuss the 2 (TWO) remnants over the phone the next day. 2 There were 2 (TWO) pieces: 8' X 1' 2".....12' X 10". T 3 You did not offer to replace the rug. 4. You did not offer to cut another rug to give me the 2 (TWO) pieces that were thrown away. 5. I did NOT hang up on you. I appreciate your response and I will give thought to your offers and get back to you after the holiday. BTW: I have never written a poor review on Yelp or any other review site. My AHITV experience was great UNTIL they actually accepted my check and promised timely delivery...I've been waiting for almost a month on a supposed stock item and have had to endure the rudeness and unprofessionalism of floor staff. I was told they were too busy to handle an inquiry about my outstanding delivery and told they were not allowed to give out or put me through to a store manager. Or, even give me an managers name! It all sounds very sketchy to me! They had NO PROBLEM accepting thousands upon thousands of dollars from me to furnish my new home! The best part of this experience has been the young delivery guy who brought the other four rugs to my home. Do yourself a favor and think twice before entrusting your carpet and rug needs to this facility. Latest Update: "Mgmt" just responded to my review with a message filled with inaccuracies. Staff there were helpful and on hand (but didnt stand over our shoulders which was great). We came here today because we saw the ad on TV that it is a warehouse with thousands of rug options. We were surprised to see that it actually was exactly that! Thousands of rugs and really great quality too! They are very nicely displayed and I'm a very organized manner too. We met the owner & his wife (Steve & Nancy) when we came in and they were extremely helpful and super sweet too! After years and years of seeing their TV ads, I made a trip today out to this store, and am glad I did. They are in the midst of a big sale, which made my timing right. The first of the bedrooms is getting the top-to-bottom cleaning and repainting as I write this, including inside the walk-in closet. After the nasty old carpeting gets ripped up within the week, I'm going to refinish the wood flooring myself, and lay down a terrific rug I found at AHITV. The other reviewers were right about the big selection, and I was also more than impressed by the friendly service. They give the impression of being a "family company," even with hospitality from their 5-year-old, brother-and-sister pair of Golden Retrievers, Sonny and Cher. Eric, Sam, and Joe helped me "shoe-horn" my rolled-up new rug into my teeny car. I WILL be back when it's time to get more rugs for the other rooms. read more
