About two weeks after the third showing was posted and I still had not been responded to, a partner or helper named Lily texted me and once I told her that my work hours didn't match up with another realtor that they have in the mix to do showings... that I could not get a virtual showing bc the lady would be there showing another person is what lily said yet we pay these people one months rent to do what? I reached out to Jonathan Marsh regarding one of his listings on craigslist. During the phone call he said he prefers to communicate via text. We set a date/time to schedule a viewing. The evening before I reached out to confirm the appointment at two separate times. The morning of I called and he did not answer. The worst part is that he has read receipts on his texts. One could give the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was swamped and did not see it. But to see that he read it and blatantly ignored me is incredibly unprofessional. Racist and unprofessional company James Silva went out of his way to make sure I stayed on a lease despite legally being able to leave My joint lease after being assaulted in my home. Spoke to him about how racist Michael and Pasha were and he proceeded to call me disrespectful to his staff after explaining how his staff had treated my roommates. On top of that when I was finally able to remove myself from the lease all I had asked was to pick up my security deposit. James Silva the manager had handed it to me and proceeded to call me a bitch under his breath in front of his staff. Worst property management group on top that they threatened to evict us after making a maintenance call to fix our disposal. At home real state did a great job with all our rental procedure. They were very profesional, flexible with time, quick to answer any questions. They are also great as the management company of the place we rent. We had issues with the washer and dryer, and James Silva helped us out and solved our problem fast and in a profesional manner. I am surprised to read the reviews here because I have had a VERY different experience renting from At Home Real Estate. Having worked in real estate and property management myself, I understand that review sites are often used as a forum for upset people to feel heard. The leasing process with At Home Real Estate was really smooth. James Silva was really patient and worked hard to get lease terms we felt good about. He also was nice enough to let us into the unit a couple times to take measurements before moving in. Overall, the process was easy to navigate and very accommodating. Upon moving in, we had some big issues with the laundry in our unit when we first moved in and after bringing it to James' attention he was so responsive and ensured the issue was resolved correctly and promptly. Having issues with our laundry was frustrating, but James was so communicative during the entire process and ensured the situation was truly rectified instead of slapping a band aid on it. I was very impressed and grateful with the quality of customer service we received. read more

It's unfortunate that I cannot give them negative stars. If they were in the restaurant business, if you ordered something in the morning, they would bring it to you late evening, ten months later. I fail to understand why there's no rioting in front of their place of business. Most likely because we are decent folks. I have raised multiple issues that they are either 1. yet to respond to 2. not been resolved 3. responded but they have done absolutely nothing about. Simply put, At Home is not as on top of things as they should be. There have been several occasions when I tried to reach them about an issue, and they would take days, sometimes WEEKS, to respond. If you want a quick response, you have to hound them.. meaning e-mail and call several times a day, etc.... There have also been times where important information about the unit I rent was not forwarded to me. I've also had some trouble trying to get an extermination out of them. They happily did one extermination, but when I alerted them that the house centipedes started to come back their response was "They are not unsanitary, and since you have a basement level apartment, they should be expected." I was so shocked by this response. Were they serious? Apparently they were! To me, that is just plain unacceptable. My most recent issue with them came when I asked to have my toilet fixed because of a leak at the base. I was questioned about whether or not I was sure it was a real leak, and that it could be just the toilet "sweating" from the heat. The reaction in my head went something like this "WTF?? Do you think I'm stupid? Just get your ass over here and fix this sh*t!!!" but I had to keep it professional, so I went with "I'm sure it's a real leak. Thank you." I went to this place to rent my first apartment. Pasha was not very accommodating and very confrontational about my lack of rental experience even though i am a very responsible working adult. He didn't know me but assumed so much about me upon my race. Upon meeting him, he tried to change the price, when i was going there for to start an honest life. At Home deserves negative stars. I wanted them to find tenants for my house when I was moving to Los Angeles. They came, picked up the keys and took my money, but that's about all they did. First, they failed at advertising my place. They only posted on their own website, not on Craigslist. When I saw my place wasn't listed on CL, I called to complain. Joe posted it, but incorrectly so that it didn't show up in any searches. I complained again... Finally it was posted, but three weeks after they had been hired. And a week later, they had no showing scheduled. That seemed OK to them. I was able to coordinate a showing for a prospective tenant. But, Joe from At Home failed to show up for his one and only showing. The prospective tenant called me in Los Angeles from my doorstep in Dorchester. I had to call Joe to get him over there. He made up excuses for why he wasn't there which were completely lame... In the end, my old housemates showed the place to the prospective tenant. When I spoke to Joe later, he acted like he had done the showing, and that he had been the one to arrange it! But there's more: the prospective tenant called me to complain that Joe would not stop calling him and pestering him. Finally, when I fired At Home, it took about 100 phone calls to get them to send me my keys / garage door opener / and refund from my account. But, when they finally did send those items, they forgot to send the keys. Page, Joe, and Jordan simply do not return phone calls, so it took about 100 more phone calls to get them to send the keys. But, get this. They had sent the garage door opener in a regular old unpadded envelope, and it barely got to me in LA. I sent many emails saying "PLEASE DO NOT SEND THE KEYS IN A REGULAR ENVELOPE. SEND THEM IN A BOX OR PADDED ENVELOPE!" Of course, Jordan sent a ring of 8 keys in a plain letter envelope, and that envelope arrived in LA with a keyring-sized hole in it, with no keys inside. Just an empty envelope! And that pretty much sums up At Home Property Management. They are an empty envelope. Page, Joe, and Jordan, one empty-envelope after another. BBB complaint coming up next. This company should have ZERO stars. I'm looking for an apartment. First they send me an accountant, NOT a realtor. He can't rent this apartment because it's filthy and bug infested. When I call his boss to ask a question, he called me back to yell at me. When I've asked him questions he brushes me off and runs off. The place has been vacant for months, it does not meet some of the building codes and yet they've raised the listing price twice. They've also told me they want first month, last month, security deposit, an extra months rent as their finders fee AND a monthly rental for a service dog. I can find none of these people listed as licensed realtors on the states website. They need to shut this company fast. I wanted to add something to this review after reading a response from the company owner to someone. He mentions it was their responsibility to pay the condo fee. It is NOT their responsibility. They are paying a "owner" rent. It is up to the owner to pay the HOA. If you have any confusion about this law in Massachusetts, perhaps you, the rental company, should get your head out of your ass and not break the law. read more

At Home have managed 3 of my properties in Dorchester for 2 years now and I couldn't be happier. I can't comment on them as agents, but I do know many of the negative reviews come before a significant employee reshuffle. Some of the properties have involved a lot of challenging tenant situations and the guys have helped me through them with incredible tenacity and professionalism. I want to especially recognize Pasha and James for regularly going above and beyond to ensure order, harmony and cleanliness at all properties. Pasha has become my right hand guy and I couldn't do any of this without him. 0/5 would NOT recommend. These people don't care about their renters nor the buildings they supposedly manage. Most of their units are infested with bugs that they expect you to get rid of yourself. (Not to mention the inside hasn't been updated since the 80s) It doesn't matter how many times you call about your heat or hot water not working (even in the middle of winter). They will tell you they are "taking care of it" and act like your bothering them to upkeep the buildings they are supposed to be managing. If you want to rent from a slumlord who will ignore all upkeep on your building and then act your inconveniencing them, at home real estate are your guys. read more

Not sure what their approach is. Looked at a place, was interested but when I asked if the realtor, Prasath, had a business card. He did not. He scribbled his cellphone number on a scrap piece of paper. I asked for his email, he insisted I text him..very unprofessional. Had to call at Home Reality because I couldn't read what he wrote. Again, he told me to text him. Of course, he didnt text me back either.Who doesnt have an email address? When i still wanted this home to rent, I emailed another realtor off the website, no response. Good Luck to Dorchester residents who try to use them. The neponset home is still for rent. Home for reality could careless that I have a CAREER not just a job, I have lived on my own for two years, great credit and never missed a payment on anything. We had a good experience, overall. We made contact in January 2014 and moved into a suitable place in between February snowstorms, despite having a dog. We have a comfortable relationship with the owners and are pleased with the terms of our lease. I was particularly impressed with the negotiation process. Yes, you read that right: a negotiation for a rental in Boston. With Jonathan guiding the discussion, we and the property owners sat down together at the At Home office, along with our dog, whom the owners wanted to meet. We discussed the lease terms, expectations, ideas we had for ways we'd like to spruce up the place and so on. Pasha, our intial contact, also participated. We and the owners asked questions, shared information and laid a good foundation for what we all hope will be a long-term tenancy. I have some training in negotiation, so I was watching carefully to see that both sides' interests were being addressed. The process was conducted professionally, with separate, private discussion with us and with the owners, as well as a final review together to make sure we all agreed with everything in the lease documents. Yes, the AtHome folks were initially a bit slow to return calls. And Pasha would do well to cultivate a more professional demeanor to offset his youth -- Jonathan is a good role model there. But we were pleased with both the process and the outcome. and are happy to recommend At Home to other renters. read more

I have had a terrible experience here. I cannot speak for any of their agents nor the way they conduct business other than Jonathan. We looked at several spaces for rent through their website and found one we were enormously interested in. After going to see the location we were thrilled and wanted to move forward with renting the property. We filled out applications put down application fees as well as a month's rent in deposit to be considered. After the money down, credit checks, and going to see the property again to meet with the Landlord/representative of the landlord we were left waiting for over an hour to meet. This could be all landlord's fault yet after we left he immediately arrived with the other set of tenants he had already decided on renting to. We were tremendously confused when we got back to see these people in their newly rented space we thought we had. This could be understandable in an extenuating circumstance I suppose. Jonathan however, apologized and proceeded to tell us how he wanted to make up for it and find a comparable place for us to live, seeing as ample amounts of our time and money was now wasted. He proceeded to send me two other locations to which I responded with interest and heard nothing back for five days. After sending him another message asking what was going on and what he may have found out for us about the properties, his response was verbatim, "who is this please?". I could not be more displeased at how we've been treated here. The fact that he no longer even had my number was most concerning, Business must be so truly fantastic these days to disregard people so easily. My friends and I are former University of Massachusetts students, a place which I know provides the company with a great deal of business due to their territory's close proximity to the campus. Word to the wise for UMASS students, bad move to use Jonathan as your agent!!! read more

This was the worst renting experience I had in my entire life. I looked at an apartment on August 2st and filled out an application a few days later. After a month of phone tag I was informed they had lost the application and I needed to fill out another one. After filling out the second application it was almost another month before I could get any answers about what was going on. Once approved I was blown off once for the lease signing and left wasting half a vacation day from work. When I finally signed the lease I asked if there were any more fee's from the building I was moving into and was told there was not. I went to move in after work on a Wednesday and was told I could only move in Mon-Fri between 9am and 5pm and there was a $250 move in fee and another $250 to move out. I had to take another vacation day to move in. Now that I am in, over two months later, they are trying to amend my lease make me purchase renters insurance which again will cost me more money that was undisclosed. What ever you do, do not work with this company and if you have to make sure you do not work with Jonathan Marsh "J-Mar" He is the most unreliable unprofessional Realtor I have ever met. Not to mention most of the painting and repairs I was told would be done were not. AGAIN WORST REALTOR I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!! read more

I had a horrible experience with this company. My condo's insurance dropped off because the other two unit owners did not pay their dues. The agent at At Home said that she got our policy reinstated, but she really ended up having to get a new policy written. She signed us up for a policy that costed 500 dollars more than our monthly due are! She never communicated to us that she did this. When I called to speak to them about it the manager denied that she could have ever done this. I had a copy of the contract signed by her and sent it to them. They still did not take responsibility for this stupid decision and never admitted that they need to communicate these things to us. They are very difficult to deal with and do not know how to take responsibility for their errors. My experience with them was even more frustrating than dealing with the other two unit owners who don't pay on time. I am switching companies immediately. read more
