I booked a sunset tour of Miami with Champagne for my wife and I as a surprise for her birthday and we could not have left happier. From the initial telephone booking through to us waving goodbye, this is how customer service and care should be. I booked in with Alex who is friendly and helpful answering all of my initial questions. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff and our pilot, Mauro who is both entertaining and knowledgeable of the area he was raised in. The flight was great, Mauro showing us the sights that were breathtaking. Miami at night in a plane at 77 feet is breathtaking. My wife and I enjoyed champagne and the evening colors. We flew over south beach, fisher island, star island, over the dolphins stadium and the heat stadium and so much more that we didn't even know existed out here. The old prohibition safe house out at sea was a revelation. After landing, Mike the owner spent some time with us and rounded off a great experience. My husband surprised me with a Discovery Flight experience and It was an Incredible! I was expecting to first have a classroom lesson but nope, instructor Maria Fernanda introduced herself and we boarded the Cessna 172. She explained the controls to me and told me what we were going to do that day and we were off! I must admit I was pretty nervous having two lives as my responsibility but the flight was amazing. We flew over South Beach and back to the airport, it was a short 45 minute experience and so worth it! Now I want to learn more but have yet to receive the email the staff said they would send me with the class information. Much recommended for anyone who is curious about flying and want to try a bit of adrenaline! read more

I interviewed the Owner Kareem (New Owner!) He says the old owner died of cancer and took over the school. The guy was super nice when I called on a Sunday at 3pm he said sure come over! He was super friendly and smiled alot, showed me his planes that were available for viewing (most were out flying). School is small and is a part #61. If this is what you are looking for I would recommend this school. They also offer an accelerated program at a discount if you pay in advance. Bought a discovery flight groupon for my dad and they let me ride as a passenger for an extra fee on top of the taxes n gratuity they charge when u get there which are not included in the groupon. The day we went the weather was crappy but the pilot/instructor (forgot his name) was cautious enough to give us the option of going to the west where the everglades are rather than the east which is their usual direction because the storm was over the beach. We chose the safer route but before we took off the storm had passed so we went towards the beach. My dad had total control of the plane, took off, did a figure 8 over the water and headed back. Total trip time was about 30 mins. The instructor landed the plane. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this to anyone interested in flying. I bought a discovery flight on Groupon but be aware that this does not include the gratitude and taxes paid when arrived. At first we did not get a good impression. We called about a month in advance to make reservations and the individual we spoke to was unfriendly and rude. BUT I called in about a week before our flight to confirm everything was set and had the pleasure of speaking to Angelo, very friendly and helpful !!! When we arrived we were greeted by Angelo who again was very kind and told us that we were welcomed to walk around and take pictures. My boyfriend took the flight lesson with Victor as the instructor, who was very calm and professional. He went through the initial process of checking the plane's exterior and interior for safety and then we were ready for the flight ! The view was amazingggggg, we had such a great time filled with beautiful views ! This is defiantly a must try ! I'll start with the fact that the "discovery" flights we took were amazing. Awesome flight instructors, and the owner was very helpful in getting us booked. I do have to deduct 2 stars (usually I go all the way down to 1 star) because they made us pay an additional $35 "taxes and fees" charge per person to the Groupon price -- essentially making the flights almost 50% more expensive than we expected. The receptionist claimed it said these were extra and mentioned in the Groupon listing. They were not. Since the owner had been nice enough to get us booked, I didn't fight it. I just wish businesses would be honest and upfront about the pricing. I get that they have to pay a hefty commission to Groupon when they use it, but (a) then state in the terms that there is the additional fee and how much it is, and (b) they booked us at the Groupon price outside of Groupon, so, they already saved themselves the hefty Groupon fee. Anyway, even for the $110 or $115 we ended up paying per person (plus tip to the pilot), this was awesome. Again, if they had been upfront about the fees, they would have gotten 5 stars. read more

We came for a 1 hour flight tour around Miami and it was amazing!! We didn't even touch the champagne after takeoff because we were so busy looking at everything. Our pilot, Basu, was incredibly friendly and very entertaining. He pointed out celebrity houses, told us about different neighborhoods and islands and flew us over a music festival. He took lots of pictures and airdropped them to us right after the flight. The experience was absolutely one in a million and I can't wait to come back! Oh! And before we took off we had a lovely conversation with a man who seemed to be in charge of the flight school. He told us about his flights and travels and created a very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere. They joked and made us feel very at ease. Absolutely recommend! read more

When I was transferred to the manager/owner, Mike, he was rude and told me he was busy and unable to talk to me. Scenic, romantic, and the pilot was very informative as a tour guide. In addition to all of the greatness of the tour itself, I got to fly the plane for a little while - even setting the stage for landing the plane. I recommend them for tours. It's always been one of my goals in life to fly a plane so earlier this year, I saw a Living Social deal for an introductory flight and I booked it. I called to ask a couple of questions about scheduling before I booked it. The guy was very helpful and told me up front what the flight consisted of and the fees I would have to pay when I arrived that weren't included in the deal. I scheduled the flight a couple of weeks in advance. The day of, they called me to confirm. I had actually been a little concerned because the weather wasn't the best and I didn't wanna fly in stormy clouds. But they reassured me that it should be fine and that they would call and reschedule if the weather posed any kind of danger. I felt relieved by that and I went anyway, even though there were some pretty scary rain clouds hovering above. I'm always slightly wary of companies that post deals on Groupon and the like, and sometimes they tend to be struggling companies that are not that legit, but we got there and everything was very professional. ATA is a full blown flight school, where one can attain training to become a pilot. They were friendly, but knowledgable, and our pilot Captain Bob Perez was awesome with me. My best friend ended up going up with me, for an added fee. God bless her soul. I can't believe she trusted me. Before taking off, we prepared everything on the plane, which is teeny tiny. If you're going to do this, be prepared for that. This is a single engine teeny little thing that was shorter than me standing up. There was only enough space in the cockpit for 3- 4 people max, and I'm pretty sure 4 would push the weight limit. But I digress. Captain Perez showed us everything on the controls and what everything indicated. Then we tested everything to make sure the controls were properly moving the wing flaps and the rudder, cause you definitely don't wanna find out that those aren't working 13,000 feet in the air. We all put on headphones to communicate with each other and with the control tower. He handled the take-off and landing, which both were super smooth. I gotta admit that little plane is nimble. When we were up in the air, he turned the plane a little so we could get a good view of the Sun Life stadium from above. Then I got to man the controls for a bit. I was too freaked out to do anything crazy, but I used the pedals to turn left and right. Since it was a little cloudy, we felt a couple of gusts, but it was fine. It's the normal turbulance you feel on a regular flight. When we finally cleared all that, we flew over the beach, and it looked absolutely gorgeous. Then we turned back around and headed back to the airport. Can't stress enough what an expert flier this man was. It was one of the smoothest landings ever. After the flight, we pushed the plane back into it's spot and took some picture. He also gave us a little bit of information about their flight program and how much everything would cost if I wanted to pursue a license. Really helpful if that's something you're interested in. Even if you're not, I 100% recommend this experience. It was just as amazing as I expected and I'd love to do it again. read more

5 stars!! I had a wonderful experience at ATA Flight School from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. I booked a Romance tour with Champagne for my boyfriend and I for our anniversary and we were able to fly down Miami Beach during the sunset which was so BEAUTIFUL!!! We got to fly down South Beach, Key Biscayne & Downtown Miami and I took over 100 photos... It was amazing! The staff was very warm and welcoming... It is a family owned business and they treated everyone there like they were part of the family. The owner Mike made us cappuccinos And treated us to snacks and complimentary pastries from a traditional italian bakery! The pilots were very professional and well dressed. The tour pilots are flight instructors so my boyfriend got to sit up front and learn how to fly the plane! After the flight we got to take a couples photos in front of the airplane and we also got to take a picture with the pilot! Great Experience and I highly recommend taking the sunset tour! read more

I have no clue why anyone would say the owner is "rude". By boyfriend (now fiancé) set up taking me out in one of their planes while flying a banner next to us asking me to marry him. Every single person here including the owner and his son were nothing but kind and attentive. They were all personable and genuine. When we walked in they had fruit and chocolates, offered us coffee and cappuccino. We instantly felt like it was family we hadn't seen in a while. The owner himself set things up with the other company who would be flying the banner and took care of everything. It was an incredible, memorable experience with a warm, hospitable staff. My girlfriend and I were looking a quick fun weekend getaway and a friend of hers recommended this place. At first I thought is was a flight school for pilots but apparently they can fly you to the Bahamas and other near by hot spots. My gf and I never had been to the Bahamas and heard nothing but good things so we booked a flight for a day. Wow what a great experience! The ATA flight school was wonderful, the owner Kareem was very knowledgeable and professional. We took our 15 year old son there for a discovery flight for his birthday and the instructor (Iman) and all of the people working there were amazing. They were so patient, professional and very generous with their information and guidance. When we took him we did not realize that he would be the one at the controls and in the pilot seat. He was so excited and had an overall incredible experience. From the pre-flight checklist all the way through takeoff and landing we felt that we were in good hands with our instructor who has almost 1000 hours of flight-time experience. Also the views of Miami from that altitude were absolutely stunning. This is the best place in the area to go if you want reasonably priced flying classes where you will learn a lot, with a very well-informed and really nice team. read more

This would have been an easy five stars, but they lost one from me. I did a living social deal and made the appointment for this morning at 11am. Unfortunately, they had to reschedule us for 2pm because they couldn't get the plane we would be using at that time. They called and left a message yesterday, but amidst the holiday family stuff, I didn't listen to the voicemail. So no worries, not their fault. We left and came back. The office itself needs some love and attention, paint chipping, stuff kind of all over, but I will say, the flight itself was phenomenal. This was the girl's Christmas gift, so I hopped in the back, and she played co-pilot first with Captain Boom. It's super scary for the first few minutes, but the ride was smooth and then we got back on the ground and switched seats. It was freaking amazing. The day ended up being really beautiful. Never thought I'd say this but I'd love to take a real lesson. Really the only negative thing I could say is that from the moment I made the reservation, the woman at the front desk was just so unpleasant. She is obviously very well liked by the pilots and other employees, and she was making sure everyone in the office had eaten lunch so I don't think she's a total crank, but if you're going to work in a customer service position, you really need to step up your etiquette game. read more

Saw the ad on Groupon for a decently priced romantic air tour for two for $169. I wanted to see if they would accept a last minute reservation because I procrastinated and waited until the night before to schedule it. I called once to schedule for 5 PM the morning before. They said they only had a 4 PM available, and that they would call me back in 10 minutes. They didn't. So I called back and asked again to schedule for 5 PM the following day. I spoke to the owner, Mike. He was nice on the phone, and explained to me that there was an opening for 5 PM the following day. He told me that it would be $216 with taxes and gratuities, fine. I asked him to E-mail me more information about the flight the following day. He did. Now, this is where everything takes a turn for the worse. Unfortunately, my girlfriend ate something that didn't agree with her the night before on our early anniversary date, and got food poisoning. She could not sleep the night before, and was so sick that we had to cancel all of our plans for the day. It was disappointing, especially because I had an elaborate day planned. I hate to be the guy who calls and cancels things at the last minute, but it was an extenuating circumstance. I called the ATA Flight School and asked to speak to Mike, but one of his employees told me he was "Busy on a government website" and that he was not available to speak to me. I explained to the employee the situation, and that I was very sorry for the inconvenience and apologized for canceling on such short notice. I asked how the transaction would be handled, and he told me there would be a $25 cancellation fee. I told him that would be fine, but to have Mike call me as soon as he was finished with his business on the government website. I go about my day and get a call from Mike at 6 PM, saying, "Max what happened? We had a 5 PM appointment scheduled for you." I responded by saying I spoke to one of his employees who informed me that you were busy at the time, although I left a message for him to call me back ASAP. He told me he did not receive the message, and that he was sorry for my girlfriend being sick. He asked when I would like to reschedule. I told him that unfortunately because it was for a special event and that my schedule would not permit me to reschedule, that I would rather take the hit on the $25 dollar cancellation fee and be done with it. He responded abruptly by saying, "It is actually a $45 cancellation fee", and questioned me on why I would rather not reschedule. I told him that there is very little free time on my schedule for us to do this again, and that if the cancellation fee is $45, so be it. He followed up by saying that "He does not want to deal with this at 6 PM, and to call him back the following day". I called him back and told him I would rather put the situation to bed right away. He told me he "Had a very long, rough day and that I booked a trip which is non-refundable". He continued by saying, "Your money is here for whenever you want to spend it but I am not talking about it now. If you call me tomorrow after I sleep on it maybe I will have a change of heart, goodbye" and hung up. My immediate thought was how unprofessional he was while handling this situation. He was rude, abrupt, and he hung up on me. Not to mention how unorganized his business is, with employees who do not communicate amongst each other and misinform customers. If his employee would have told me that the money was non refundable and there was no $25 cancellation fee, a different conversation would have ensued. Regardless of the fact that he said that "My money is there for anytime I would like to spend it", it made me not want to do business with someone who treated a customer with such disrespect. Anyways, I informed my girlfriends father about the situation, and he told me that he would get involved. After over a week of my girlfriends father and Mike playing phone tag, they spoke and Mike explained to him that "He would meet me somewhere in the middle". I got a phone call from Mike early this afternoon, and he told me that "My money was there when I would like to spend it", which is no different from the conversation we had 8 days ago. I proceeded to tell him that "I am not interested in doing business with someone who is rude to their customers, misinforms them, and has absolutely no communication with their employees. I was told I would have to pay a $25 cancellation fee and I would like you to honor that." He responded by saying that my attitude was "Piss poor", and that "I was digging a hole deeper and deeper." He told me his employee clearly made a mistake when he told me about the $25 cancellation fee. I responded by saying, "As a business owner, you should be responsible for any mistakes your employees make, and I do not feel that I am being treated as a customer should be." He in turn said, "You are making me upset and I am not discussing this any further" Avoid this unprofessional business read more

Went on the sunset tour w/complimentary champagne. This was a surprise date night. I was very shocked, because my fiance hates flying. The staff was very inviting. It must have been one of the employees birthday. They were barbecuing and invited us to a plate while we waited for our pilot. Since I figured this wasn't gonna be the end of the night I declined. Didn't want to spoil my appetite. The pilot came in introduced himself (Garrick Smith) who is also an instructor, made me feel even safer. The weather was perfect, and even though it was a very small plane the flight was smooth. Really enjoyed the views of the city, especially after the sun went down. Miami lights , just lovely. Only down side was we couldn't sit side by side, kinda takes away from the romantic part. Also, I could only hear my fiance & pilot on the headphones, he couldn't hear me. So we had to just take in the sights. Which wasn't so bad. read more

I'm in love with this place!!!!! My sister and I just did a discovery flight. They booked us same day. Everyone was super sweet and funny. Alex answered the phone she's very professional! Angelo is awesome he gave us a tour about the planes and establishment. Then Brian was our awesome pilot, he explained everything with enthusiasm and shared info about the plane, flying and even shared info about south Florida! Best of all The Don Michael met us to make sure we get our kisses upon landing and even told us to come back for a cappuccino! What a great crew! Awesome flying family! The person I spoke to on the phone was very unprofessional. I had to call twice and leave messages with the secretary (after not receiving a call back for 4 days). One of the instructors called me back. I asked about flight training. The prices they have on their website are garbage. When you call to schedule it, they change the prices. It's a total bait and switch operation there. The guy even said f*** three times on the phone while he was explaining their training and fleet of aircraft (he had a New York accent). ZERO stars. I was on groupon looking at their tour flight and called to get more information. The person I spoke to insisted I purchased it with them instead of groupon and I did trusting they would be ethical people. I had spoken to them as far as cancelations go and they forts told me that there was a $30 for cancellation. When I went ahead to cancel they told me I couldn't hay I could only reschedule and that it people cost me $40 they denied what was said and I tried speaking with the owner to get my money back and he didn't help at all. He was being super rude and wouldn't let me speak about the misunderstanding he shouted and basically told me that I lost my money and he was not going to do anything to help me. However, he did say to reschedule but who would want to give business to someone is rude and disrespectful I honestly didn't feel save flying after that conversation. He got so heated and I wasn't even feeding the fire. I DONOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY AND DEAL WITH VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Horrible! Found on Groupon but they convinced me to buy directly through them since they said it would be easier and I could add $25 gratuity. $226 total for what I thought would be a nice gift for my husband. Since it was for my husband's birthday and I did not want to worry about tipping and just enjoy, I did purchase it through them directly. On my way there, I called just to confirm and spoke to Alix, who said that she could not find my reservation. I gave her my name and date booked. Still, she could not find it. We ended up finding the confirmation email but by then we were very upset and no longer wanting to deal with the ineptitude so I asked her to have a manager call me to issue a full refund. She said that would be her father Mike and that he was flying at the moment. I am waiting for the call. Not sure how they are in business if they can't keep track of their appointments.
