Today I got to experience sexism first hand. I went in with verbal and text documentation of what a price would be, and when I show up, it is a LOT more than what was discussed. MAGICALLY when my husband shows up, the price gets closer to the price agreed upon, but the demeanor changed 100%. I have never felt more undervalued, mistreated and completely taken advantage of. Atchinson Ford provided nothing short of a nightmare. It was a relentless onslaught of false promises and misleading information not honoring any verbal or text communicated information. We diligently followed through on our end of the agreement, only to be met with yet another excuse when it came time for them to fulfill their obligations.But perhaps the most revealing moment came when we spoke directly with the owner, Craig. His cavalier attitude and blatant disregard for customer satisfaction spoke volumes about the culture he fosters within his dealership. His proposition to extend assistance only if we agreed to purchase another vehicle was not only absurd but downright insulting. It was abundantly clear that our worth as customers was directly tied to our willingness to line his pockets with more cash. Adding insult to injury, it became painfully obvious that their mistreatment of me was deeply rooted in misogyny. The moment my husband entered the conversation, their demeanor shifted drastically, suddenly treating me with a modicum of respect they had previously withheld. It was a sickening display of sexism that should have no place in any professional setting, let alone a place of business. I've had a lot of great experiences with this place. My salesman, Mike Cogley was super friendly and nice to work with and answered my list of questions. Quick Lane is really fast too. Was able to get in and out of there pretty fast with an unscheduled oil change. Just had to sit in the lobby for a bit - nice staff too. Went to Atchinson's lot on a Sunday, found several F150 trucks that were suitable for my needs. Called the dealer first thing on Monday morning and talked to salesperson Wess. Spent 15 minutes on the phone going over options, checking availability, giving him details he asked for. Said he would call back shortly. That was the last I heard from Wess. Apparently with the 154 F150's that are in inventory, they did not need to sell any more. After striking up a deal at another dealership, I thought I'd let the new car manager know that they lost a sale and left a message for him. Never heard back. I waited one month and never got the voucher when I called back to Ford Motor Company they said the issue is now between me and the dealership. Where do I start with this reputable company. My husband is a vet and in January got assaulted at work and is concussed and is still off work due to headaches and nausea and concussion symptoms. And this is documented FORD So he took Ford to court because of their lies. And honestly they totally screwed him. Last year his antifreeze left his car - poof gone - he called atchinson and couldn't get in for a month - they said it was safe to drive He took it to a local mechanic because it was running off and he was told it was a silent recall He called atchinson and was told no such thing (Then apparently a few weeks later AFTER THEY RAN THE DIAGNOSTIC it was recalled but HE RECEIVED NO NOTICE. ) When he did take it in FINALLY after 1 month/ they did a diagnostic which we are positive it was not run correctly and they reset the motor!!!! Yet a few weeks later it was recalled. He was charged a 150 for the diagnostic which he felt was wrong - the car has an issue and. He decided to sue to get his 150 back They NEVER CALLED about the recall They never sent the notice that is was recalled - not to his address So his light keeps going off and he takes it to local mechanic who keeps resetting it - the car is not driving rough YET but he's driving on a recalled engine. So this past January 2023 his transmission. Is recalled and he gets a notice. He goes back to atchinson and they fix that . Do they TELL A 67 year old man - get bud your engine is recalled ??? HOW ABOUT WE CHECK THAT FOR YOU?????!!!!! Nope! So In march his car is acting up - he calls - og it's on recall but UNFORTUNATELY you have too many miles now, He added to his lawsuit - he lost because we could not proof he didn't receive the recall notice????? They did a diagnostic test - that was OBVIOUSLY FAULTY CONSIDERING IT WAS RECALLED 2 weeks later., Save your money GO ELSEWHERE DO NOT SHOP LOCAL FORD IN BELLEVILLE. If they offered to do his motor for cheaper due to the circumstances we would have He's disabled from work - hoping to return Congrats FORD FOR YOUR WONDERFUL LOVING CUSTOMER SERVICE I drive a Honda. I've been leasing Ford vehicles for over 20 years and have never used the same sales person twice. Whether it be because the person was no longer working at that dealership, I refused to work with that person again, or I just went to a different dealership altogether. For the first time I worked with the same sales person for the 2nd time in a row, because he is the absolute BEST! Jalen has every quality I have been looking for in a sales person for 20 years. In regards to the sales person/customer relationship, he listens and is an excellent communicator, always up front about my wants/needs and responds quickly to my messages in an upbeat and positive manner. He's very personable, always asking how my day is or inquiring about my family. Jalen does his homework, he is very knowledgeable about the vehicles, features and packages and knows how to get me all that I'm looking for. He is honest and trustworthy about what is available in my price range and making sure I know all avenues available to get what I want. Once the details are all in place, he is quick to get the paperwork done and get me in my new vehicle. On this particular occasion, it took about 4 hours from beginning to end...the end being Jalen delivering me my new car, explaining all the new features, setting up the Ford Pass app on my phone, and picking up the vehicle I was turning in all without me even stepping foot in the dealership. Not to mention he is always there with follow-up to make sure I am happy and answer any questions I may have and continues to make me feel like a priority even after the sale is done. We have purchased at least three cars here over three last six years and I have liked our salesman. We went in today and I was very disappointed in their COVID preparations. They had sanitizer, masks, and Plastic shields up around the showroom. But hardly any employees were wearing masks. Our salesperson was, but mechanics, receptionist, service, and almost every person mulling about was not wearing a mask or it was under their chin. While I understand some were in their cubicles, many walked through the showroom including customers with no masks. We were so uncomfortable and I'm just so sad they are not taking every precaution to keep their customers safe. read more

I work for Ford and can say this dealership will discriminate and give false/contradicting information based on who you are. After telling a salesperson I am ready to purchase a vehicle they said it may or may not be sold. When going to gather extra information they said dealership owner may have sold these vehicles to his buddies. Then told by manager Patrick Leeman that vehicle that I inquired about that may or may not be available for me would have a $25,000 mark up! If you know anything about Michigan winters driving down the highway with no washer fluid in December is about as smart as telling John Cena he's a little bitch. when i picked up my 2017 edge for 2 safety recall that they worked on that day. they did not gave me any paper works or anything about the repairs that they did. and the check engine light was on and i ask them about the engine light comes on after the repair. they just gave me the key and tell me to drive home and come back in tomorrow. i ask them is it safe to drive home with the check engine light on. they said i don't know, just drive home and come back tomorrow. wow i put my safety in a (sh..ty) mechanic. read more

So, I felt a little taken advantage of, here. "A used car dealership? You're kidding!" but it just feels that way. Just to be clear, we had cash. We thought that would increase our buying power. It didn't. There were a couple red flags with the dealership that we were going to ignore. Never in initial dealings did they mention that the car in question had had an accident. Poor form. You have Carfax's. Use them. Now it was minor, sure, but the scratches made more sense. The new bumper made more sense. "Did you know that this car was in an accident?" He dodged the question. He didn't know. So one of two things happened: 1) He lied. 2) He legitimately didn't know. But either way, we had lost some trust in our seller. So even though we're assured that the car was heavily inspected ("All our cars go through the [certain number]-point inspection.") we had it checked out by a local and unbiased car mechanic. Sure enough: a sway bar link gone bad. Expensive? No. Dangerous? At high speeds with quick maneuvers, absolutely. Easily detectable? Yes. He did apologize: "I talked to our mechanic, here. He can't believe he didn't catch that. We're going to fix that for you." Aw, thanks. Car was filthy in certain areas. Lots of stains. And so our list and cash thought we could talk them lower. Not a dime. Apparently agreed prices "never" include fees and taxes. As first time buyers, we didn't know that. So maybe if you don't know that, this peace of advice will help: ask. Your agreed upon price needs to be "out the door." So when they didn't come down, we came UP to their asking price, they threw another $1000+ on us for these taxes and fees. We don't have that to give. "Well surely you don't expect us to eat that $1,000 for the tax, do you?" "Actually, yes. Yes, I do. With the time and expenses you no longer have to pay for (leasing, financing, credit) with a cash transaction, you can take a hit. But you won't take a loss." "Sorry." "Well, we'll have to look elsewhere." So we are. It just stinks, because it was a lot of time and effort that lead us back to square one. I hope buying a car in the future doesn't end this way. Update: The manager contacted us and apologized. I have to use the term loosely, because he defended everything that happened. The one condescending argument I remember the most: "If Burger King advertises 6 nuggets for $1.50, you have to know after tax it's going to be $1.59." My reply, "The problem with that parallel is that if I go to Burger King and say I have a $1.50, I don't think they'll still ring me up. I sat across from your salesman and told him my budget and he led me to believe that was what it would cost, out the door." So it was an impasse, and I bought from a different dealership with better miles, better warranty, and a lot more upfront with markup, all for cheaper. read more

My truck had an engine noise, and I had a few days off of work, so I took it to Atchinson to take a look at it. The Service Advisor was very open and serious about my concerns, even though the noise could not be completely replicated upon leaving it there. They went through very many hoops to replicate the noise and isolate the cause of the problem, as well as do the requisite warranty work necessary to get me back on the road with a much quieter vehicle, all the while making sure during this time, I had a satisfactory vehicle to drive. They kept me updated on the status of my repair, and even though it took some time, I was thoroughly pleased with the overall experience. Because of some horrible traffic, I walked in just as they were about to close to get my truck, and got the exact same service as I did dropping it off first thing in the morning. I realize, through the conversations I had with the service advisors, that my issues with my truck were neither minor, nor an easy fix. (There had to be a point where somebody was cussing, if only in their head) Their attention to getting it right and ensuring that I was pulling away with a solid repair was very evident throughout the whole process, and that's what I look for when getting service on my vehicle. I knew, throughout the whole experience that they were working to make sure I was satisfied. and their pride in their skill was evident. Atchinson Ford service department is horrible. I walked in, was not acknowledged by anyone. One was staring at his phone, one staring at his computer, and someone from sales standing halfway inside the door staring at the guy who was staring at his phone. Don't talk to Nick on the phone. No customer service skills and doesn't offer any information, you have to drag it out of him. My wife went to pick up her car, 2016 Explorer with transmission failure, and the woman who "helped" her was very rude. One word answers. My wife had to ask many questions. The answers she received should have been provided to her by the service woman. They are just plain rude. Since 1998 my wife and I have purchased 4 vehicles, and leased 3. Sales is top notch, but if I have to tolerate the rudeness from service, we may take our business to Jack Demmer. read more
