I have been a loyal customer of Atchley Air for the past two decades. They have installed all of my air conditioners since I moved to this area and I was once very happy with their service. My air conditioner went out almost one month ago. I called them to repair it and they came out a couple days later to evaluate it. They told me that the problem was a faulty wire and they charged me 1,200 dollars to replace it. Once they got done, they told me that a control board was also malfunctioning and that the AC was still not working. After waiting over another full week, they came out and told me that they had originally misdiagnosed the problem and that I would need a much bigger part which needed to be ordered again. They told me that I would need to wait another week but not to worry. They told me that because I had to wait for so long, that they would move me to the very top of the priority list once this new part had arrived. After waiting for over another week, they just called me today and said the part had finally arrived but they could not install it for another five days. It has been about 95 degrees in my house for almost a month SINCE I gave them the 1,200 dollars. It will remain that hot in my house for the fourth consecutive weekend. They just don't seem to care about me at all. read more

Well we had to have the A/C unit looked at again and went with a different company because we really don't trust this one any longer. Ends up we have to replace the entire A/C system. Very good quality and quick service when my air conditioner started acting up. Would definitely recommend them.

Just be careful: I was charged to clean the kitchen drainage for $380, but work only a few days Then, when asked to come back to clean it as part of their warranty, they asked for another 1,000 to fix the cause of the problem to remove the eggshell. Their first service expects only to clean soap or water out of the drainage, not the eggshell!. So just be careful with them if you want to use their services. read more

We were sold a monthly "discount" plan when we purchased two new AC units. We were promised annual maintenance and filters on both for the fee. The salesman said that it basically spreads the service call fee out over a year and ensures they get keep our business for the maintenance. Seemed fair. Now that we had our first maintenance call, nothing is covered, no filter etc and we are being told that if we don't purchase the filter and anything else they say the system needs we void our 10 year warranty, which we already paid more for by upgrading the system we purchased. I am digging up the contract now. Seems criminal to me. Also, we had approximately 10 visits to the house for them to get the system (hopefully) installed correctly. They tried to cheat us on the hvac air returns, but the system kept shutting down because the air flow was insufficient. I think they knew this and were just hoping we would deal with it. If I could return the whole system and start with a new company, I would. read more

Two times in two weeks had two different service calls cancelled or rescheduled for more lucrative calls. I hired these people to install a new AC unit in my home and I try to be a loyal customer. Atchley used to be a great family owned when I started using them twenty years ago. However, things have gone downhill since they sold. I bought a new HVAC unit from them two years ago. It has been nothing but trouble. It broke down again this morning. I was told I would have to wait two days before they could send someone out. I'm 78 years old and temperatures are freezing. I called Ted's Hearing and Air and they sent someone out immediately. I will use Ted's from now on. Never using Atchley again. read more

Atchley is a pirate who cheated me in a garbage disposal claiming it was top of the line charging 728 dollars total for a 160 dollar machine I asked fir an itemized bill to show cost of parts and labor and was told they can't do that which raised my concern I was being screwed over never ever ever use these cheats and their underhanded dealings when a company cannot produce an itemized bill is telling you they are over charging you read more

We are very disappointed with this company. They will definitely rip you off money-wise. We signed up for a yearly maintenance plan ($16.37 automatic draft) to include a cooling and heating tune-up. According to the technician, we were a bit low on refrigerant due to a leak in the indoor evaporator coil. We were charged $250.76 to have up to two lbs. of freon added. With other companies in the past, this was included in the tune-up charge. We also found out that other companies charge considerably less than Atchley & Air. Their technicians are also very pushy on replacing parts or even trying to sell you a new unit. We will not use them again because of their extremely unreasonable high rates (even with their supposedly membership discount). read more

We have replaced two A/C units and one heating unit in the attic. They up sold us on adding more vents and a bigger return. When they added the first unit with the heating unit they added a air vent in my stair way. I didn't know until August when I got a 640 dollar electric bill that something was up. I called them and I left a voicemail around the same time. My kids were playing hiding seek and discovered a huge hole coming from the attic into his room. When I went to investigate I was like no wonder his room was so hot. When installing the upper unit and the new vent they put holes in the roof between the attic and the room. They never called me back to this day. I had to buy the insulation and fix the holes myself. For what I have spent with them it is horrible costumer service. I would not use these guys!! read more

I purchased a house that has a "lifetime thermostat replacement from Oren atchley co." Company won't answer any questions about the warranty( transferrable or not) and wants me to pay $80 just for a "service professional" can come out and check it....i told them the ac/heat is still running normally i just need the display on thermostat to be replaced..... Customer service doesn't care about customer questions and doesn't any anything and their answering service "relayed all this information" Definitely not a customer service oriented company read more

I needed the summer service on my air conditioner, called Atchley Air because our previous service company retired. We had a Freon leak for several years and the previous company kept filling it and saying they could not find the leak. I called Atchley and told them we needed a service and that it was an emergency due to the leak we have had. They sent this serviceman out right away, he found the leaks and has ordered a new part. He was very knowledgeable, personable and explained everything to us. He answered our questions and we felt very comfortable as he was not trying to rush us. He gave us options for repairing this problem. We are very happy with the service and the knowledge of the service person. I would recommend Atchley to any of my friends or family. read more

I generally do not like spreading negative energy, but this is definitely something to be aware of. Our air conditioner went out one afternoon and the first people we called were Atchley. The servicemen came out to the house, ran some tests and said we needed an entire new split unit that could cost about $5000 but we would be contacted. The next day, we got a call from someone at the office. The price went up to $7500, supposedly for one of the low end units, but they would have to send another serviceman out to make sure that would be sufficient. In the meantime we called two other air condition repair companies, both of which said that our unit only needed minor repairs. We went with the latter opinions, replaced the part, which costs about $8, and the unit is running great. Buyer beware. Shop around and get a second, if not a third, opinion. We dodged a potentially costly bullet by taking some time to research and not accepting the first option available. read more

They sent a guy to look at our AC system when it had stopped cooling. He told us we were on the verge of the whole system failing and needed a major replacement to make sure it stayed running this summer. 2nd opinion told us the unit is fine, should last another 10 years. My AC stopped working at 6pm on a Saturday. Called their answering service and they had the on call tech call me back. He asked a bunch of questions and then said "I would love to be able to tell you I'll be right out, but I can't. It's going to be Monday. I'm sure you need it fixed, so I'll call you Monday to see if you got someone to come out." They probably have great service. And this review has nothing to do with theirs hvac experience or abilities. A company that claims to be 24/7 for emergency repairs that can't come out for 48 hrs in the hottest part of the summer when your thermostat hits 90 degrees isn't 24/7. It's not a "can wait until Monday" situation. This is my opinion only. read more

Great service! I called for a quote on a new unit for my rent house. I like using Atchley Air because they are a large reputable company here in Fort Smith. They also have a quick response for any repair needs. The pricing I received was extremely competitive... And for the service they provide... they are way ahead of the competition.
