My wife and I were walking the city when we stumbled on this shop on a corner. We walked in and immediately saw several items that we both liked. I like to get stuff for my wife to surprise her, but this time I was actually shopping for her sisters birthday. After looking around for a while I found a lovely short necklace. It was a reasonable $22. They have several reasonable priced items from earrings to necklaces. The women behind the counter mentioned that they have several artisans behind the items in the shop too. I like to think they get a fair deal for their work. If you are looking for an item that is a bit different than the usual this is nice spot to look and hopefully in the future if I find myself here again I can support the local jewelers making some nice art. read more

Such an adorable store. They had tons of local handMade jewelry but what caught my eye was the hand carved wooden pull boxes. One of my daily pills is quite large and this one box was not too big and not too small. It was perfect. I also got another smaller one for pills I carry in my purse. read more

The kind of place that remembers you. I visited the store last year but I've ordered by phone recently. I was able to replace a pair of earrings I lost. Have been visiting the Atelier for years mostly during Christmas time and during May, when the Magnolias bloom. Its a cozy store with the owners and/or artists who are as precious as the jewelry they have. Amongst other things they have are beautifully decorated frames and purses. I've been coming to this store, off and on, for over 15 years. There is always (and I do mean always!) something for everyone. From the hand-made jewelry aficionado to the fun-seeking to the lower-budget (but good quality) to the 'I need a unique piece of something special' seeker.... there is all that and more in this tiny shop. They carry a variety of artists from around the country and locally, too. Sometimes, I have had staff who were a bit impatient; other times I find the staff to be incredibly helpful in showing me items that meet my needs, but that I would have over-looked. (Yes, it's easy to think you know what you want... but miss the forest for the trees...) The owner - now she's great - she'll provide her thoughtful opinion, when asked. And she too, has a knack for interpreting what it is you are looking for, once you describe your needs. So, while I haven't been a regular (for totally other reasons), I find this to be consistently, my go-to place! As for parking - I've found that if you are not walking about, downtown, then park on Oglethorpe avenue (either north or south - sides). There is a city parking garage two short blocks away (State Street). If you're visiting Savannah and have purchased the special 2-day parking pass, remember that it is perfect to use at meters with time (over one hour) or at any of the city garages... so that makes it much easier to park near this gem of a place! read more

Nice jewelry; poor customer service. I stopped in Atelier Gallery based on the recommendation of a shuttle bus driver. When I mentioned it to the guy behind the counter he proceeded to mock the shuttle bus driver by name in a very sarcastic way. When I looked at him with a stunned expression, he said "I don't mean to be rude, but I've heard it all before....". I was taken aback that the salesperson wouldn't have been appreciative of the shuttle bus driver that was recommending their business! During the next 15-20 minutes that we were in the store, the guy said "I don't mean to be rude....blah, blah, blah" at least three more times....(never directed at us). It really soured our experience there. I did buy a lovely pair of earrings and an ornament, but I would have probably spent more time and money had the salesman been more of a southern gentleman and less of a witch. read more

great small local gallery! the jewelry that is crafted there is beautifully made and she has more than 35 other artist that she showcases their work as well. the owner phyllis has great knowledge of how all the jewelry was created and also is very helpful to all the visitors in her store. she has been in business for 19 years and i am looking forward to my next visit there. read more

This is a time honored Savannah business and has held down the fort for independent artisans for a long time in this city and being a bit of a jewelry snoot, love the fact that they really don't go cookie cutter here but showcase pieces that demonstrate real creativity and imagination, also drawing on the area itself as inspiration. The owner & principle artist, Phyllis Lang, took my cemetery tour that I conduct in Savannah, Bonaventure Cemetery Journeys, and was there for the sole purpose of examining the ironwork in the area. Lo and behold, weeks later returned to her shop and found how she'd taken hat and made wearable art of it. To me the greatness of the shop on a cultural level is that it was or has been a keystone between an old artistic age, a dead zone, and then more of a renaissance hour that Savannah is going through. There's probably no literal award being given for this, but for those who know, we give this place the spiritual award and personally feel its worth every visitor's stop. read more
