This place is a go to in Monroe! A MUST! The food is always fresh and the portion sizes are great. I usually always get a large kabob plate and the Greek salad is to die for. Be very careful of takeout orders. This is the only Greek place in town and their food is good, however, on more than one occasion they have given wrong items for takeout orders and then when returned to the store made to wait over 30 minutes for them to fix the item that only took originally, they said, 10 to 15 minutes from time of order to pick up. On another occasion after showing up half an hour after the order, they still did not have it ready and never provided the order and said they did not know it would be ready. This was ordered through DoorDash and I paid through them a so it appeared they did not care since they already got paid. DoorDash would not refund and the restaurant would not either. Just be aware that take out orders could be a problem. I did not give a bad review when the DoorDash incident happened, but since now its more than once and with zero remorse either time (nothing taken off nor additional items given and a very cavalier response) it was time to put it in a review. read more

This may have been the worst restaurant meal that I ate while working in the area. The best part of the meal was the hummus. The salad was as if they dipped it into the salt. Traveling through Monroe on our way back to NWA we were looking for a safe place to eat for my celiac dietary needs. The Chicken Shawarma was our meal of choice. We were able to call ahead to order and the drive thru window was perfect since we didn't have much time to stop. The meal was ok and came with chicken, rice, hummus and salad as well as a slice of pita bread. Thankfully the bread was fully wrapped up but it still made me nervous as I did request the meal to be gluten free. The hummus was the best item in the meal. The salad was ok. The dressing good however the lettuce had a lot of the harder white pieces of the romain. The rice had green beans in it and it was not very flavorful and it was pretty dry. The chicken was really dry. I did request some of their Greek sauce but it was not included in our to go order. I think the sauce would have helped ease the dryness of the chicken. Because of their location I think it is a good place to try out, we just might order something different if we are ever in the area again. They really need to work on their gluten free information. Since it was clearly labeled on the menu and since I did specifically request gluten free when ordering I was very surprised the pita was included. This place is the first and best Greek place I've been to. I've never had Greek food so I decided to go here and try it for the first time. I got the the Lamb chop Delight and I would have to say that it keeps to its name. The grape leaf wraps were delicious and came as two different kinds (which I'm pretty sure were meat and vegetarian), the spanakopita was really good and almost melted in your mouth with a crisp outside, tzatziki was fresh and light and paired well with everything on the plate, and the lamb chops were delicious and cooked to perfection with a tender inside. I love hummus and Athena has amazing hummus and homemade pita bread to use to dip! It's a quaint, yet inviting old fashioned feeling restaurant. It almost has a downtown lunch cafe feel from the 70s during lunch. I haven't dined at dinner time but I know the atmosphere has to change because the tabletops will have white linen tablecloths for that service time. My husband and I decided to try something new and we stopped by on a Saturday for lunch. We were the first customers and found the place to be quaint and clean. Our waiter was fine, not overly friendly, but no complaints at all about the service. We both ordered the Gyro which came with a salad and hummus. We were pleasantly surprised. Wow! This is such a hidden gem in this area. I don't travel to Monroe often, but when I do, we love coming here! The owners are from Lebanon and the food is authentic and fresh. Went for a late lunch (around 3 pm) recently and was extremely impressed! The food was amazing, the drinks were cheap, and the atmosphere was really enjoyable. The only complaints I really have are the service and the menu. Our server was a little rude and seemed quite annoyed that we were there (somewhat understandable since it was a weird time) and the menu still advertised for a service that has been discontinued for a decently long time. Over priced...middle eastern food. The chicken shwarma was the best thing. We ordered the mezza for 2.... Much of it tasted canned rather than home made. The name is a misrepresentation of the actual food in our opinion. We were here for the lunch hour and found it to be very dark considering the hour.
