They staff and owners are very helpful. The pastries are very nice and can be purchased in bulk. You may also buy their tiro pita and spanakopita frozen so you can bake it at home. How did i not know about this place? I am an east sider but was in the area. They dont offer hot food on Mon/Tues, so I got a spanikopita. I immediately regretted not getting more than one! Do not buy less than one, especially if you live farther away. Their hummus is also delicious as was the feta I bought. They had so many different types of feta, I was overwhelmed. I settled on the Greek basic one. The young man described one as milder, but I guess they don't give samples for you to compare them. The baklava was just ok, i prefer more layers of the filling, but they had rose flavored loukoum and it is sooo good. Run, don't walk, and get 2 or 3 spanikopita! You won't regret it. read more

I was so pleased a local FB group unanimously recommended Athens to supply my Greek-inspired dinner party! I wanted to make as much of the food as I could, so I needed authentic, fresh, affordable groceries. I visited twice recently and each time got exactly what I needed. They were helpful, the young man made some suggestions for me, and let me sample a few bits of feta. Great selection. This place is absolutely amazing! I miss going here as often as I used to, now that I live in Toledo. Their grocery is amazing- my personal staples are the feta cheese (which is kept and sold in brine, the best way), filo dough, and the banana cookies. I could not live without this place because their feta is the absolute best, it is so fresh that no grocery store feta lives up to it. I also cannot sing the praises loud enough about their bakery. GO here...Spanokopita...warm and fresh from the oven....filo pastry crumbles in you mouth and the savory spinach and feta are mouth watering Next Feta....you got domestic feta ( great), you got Greek feta ( looked good too), you got Bulgarian feta ...you get the picture. Olives...of course all kinds...I only buy Kalamata, but decide for your self. Then there the rest of the market.....like I said go there. The prices are good too. read more

Its a great Greek store. Theres not any around Cleveland.I think this was the one at Lorain and 25th that closed. I don't get here too much anymore but its all about the food. i could eat Feta and crackers and wine all day long. I wish I could buy it as a retirement job but I cant. OPA!! read more

I typically order: Gyro Pita "SAUCE ON THE SIDE, PLEASE!! EXTRA SAUCE, PLEASE!!" Greek Salad Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Greek Vinegar "NO CARROTS, PLEASE!! NO PEPERONCINIS, PLEASE!! Why oh why haven't we been here sooner? The food is amazing. From the veggie gyro to the Greek pierogies to the pork souvlaki, everything is great. Store is spotless; the employees are friendly and helpful. Prices are on the low end. Grabbed about 8oz of ground mustard for under $2. You can buy their gyro meat be the pound, fresh or frozen. I love shopping at Athens! They have amazing prices on bulk staples like lentils, spices, various rice varieties and whole wheat flour. Needless to say, they also have the best olive oil, vinegars and Greek cheeses. The best part, though, are the sweet and savory Greek pastries. First of all, as customer service goes. The owner sits there gossiping with others in the front tables and can care less about you while you are running around trying to find something. The ones behind the counter just stare at you. He also can immediately tell you are Greek but refuses to speak Greek to you , a classic Greek-American mentality from 60's immigrants. Second as far as prices: Many or the products, (examples would be stuff like Caprice chocolate cigars and NESCAFE) can now be found in every American super market yet they remain expensive. The price for products that are available elsewhere should drop but they have not. That is not illegal but inappropriate. The tiropita-spanakopita is clearly previously frozen but costs 2.50 bucks a piece. I can make you a whole pie for 4 bucks. As far as the existing products: They are of very good quality. I would say that they are "almost" comparative quality to the homeland...the spices are great, and there is a good selection of olive oil and cheese not only from Greece but generally the Balkan peninsula. This is basically a very adequate place considering we are at Cleveland, the middle of nowhere, so the fact we are getting "anything" authentically Greek is a gift from heaven. read more

Athens Imported Foods is a NE Ohio GODSEND! They are a supermarket and deli specializing in fresh, home made Greek foods, cheeses, pastries, and lots of other delicacies, many hard to find. Their apple tarts (made with fillo dough), finikia (moist honey pastries topped with walnuts), and koulourakia (twisted butter cookies with sesame seeds) are 'to die for'! And their feta cheese... OH MY GOD! So buttery smooth and flavorful, it literally melts in your mouth! And they have a wide variety, stored in brine filled vats, as it should be. Easily the best feta in all of NE Ohio. Their spanakopitas (spinach cheese pie) and tiropitas (cheese pie) were fabulous as well, and about twice the size of the ones you usually find at a Greek festival, or at your Yiayia's place. Their store is conveniently located off of I-480, in a small shopping plaza with tons of parking. Now that I have discovered this hidden gem, I will be making the 15 minute drive a lot more often! read more
