My skin has been super dry and dull lately, plus I got a terrible night of sleep on the plane, so I was beyond glad Chi Yu was able to take me as a walk in. Noriko was so sweet and friendly, as was the lady who checked me in at the front (I didn't get her name). The facility is clean and cozy, offering tea or water when you arrive. The facial with products includes eminence products which all smelled and felt incredible. They also specialize in Japanese Cosmo Lifting Massages and Noriko integrated some of that into my facial, which was great and something new for me. The facial was so relaxing I'm pretty sure I fell asleep. I'll definitely make this my spot whenever I'm in London!

I was dreaming of some relief and started to do a quick search on Yelp for somewhere quite near my office. Nothing too laborious as my day was packed...so just a quick tune-up via chair massage was in order. Chi Yu to the rescue! Lovely staff and very welcoming. From making the appointment, to arrival, and situation all the way to checkout and bidding them adieu, everyone was so very nice. Somewhat sad that this is not a given, but in London it certainly isn't! This makes Chi Yu stand out. I made an appointment for same day with Rie, who was great. I was escorted downstairs to the treatment area, and given 30 minutes of chair massage. Brilliant, just what I wanted. She was very communicative and definitely helped ease the tension. I probably need one every day for a month to really work it out, but this really helped. I took a menu and will definitely be back. Really like the vibe of this place, the atmosphere (also SUPER clean), and the service offerings. Facials, beauty + Wellness massage, reflexology, Thai massage, etc. £15 (plus a bit extra for Rie) --- well worth it.

Walked in yesterday to ask about the price for accupressure. The lady at the counter told me that…read moreit would be 55 GBP and to fill out a form. I filled out the form and the doctor saw me right away. He did a 3-5 minute assessment of my shoulder issue and then had me lay on the table and proceeded to do acupuncture, which is not what I came in for. I decided to let it go and he put a bunch of needles in my shoulder and neck. Then had me roll over and did the same to the front. I will say that I my frozen shoulder did feel 50% better BUT he kept mentioning that he recommended me to take herbs to help for 5 weeks at 70 GBP per week. I declined. Then when I went to leave another person was at the counter with a bunch of herbs already bagged up told me the same that the doctor recommended the herbs for 5 weeks. I said no, and he said that there is a discount so the 5 weeks would cost 50 GBP per (250 GBP) I declined and as I went to leave he told me that the 55 GBP was for the consultation and that the acupuncture was 90 GBP. In the past month I've had acupuncture done in New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco . This was more expensive than ANY of these cities. I think that the doctor was good, but the practices of the office leaves much to be desired. None of the other acupuncture places that I went to ever suggested herbs for the muscles in my shoulder. One sold me a muscle balm, which makes more sense. Beware

I guess it is one of my favorite spots in London now. Full of bright colors, it is a small alley just off Covent Gardens and has pretty and colorful buildings, with shops and cafes. picturesque and very hippy style, which is actually some kind of "reflection" of the person who created Neal's Yard. See, its the thing, when you don't expect it and that is surprisingly beautiful- it was the same case with Neal's Yard. and not everyone will say that - 'hey going to London, do visit this small courtyard' . Nope, it was all part of my research... , It's only about 5 minutes from Covent Garden market, and there are two alleyways that lead to it, but they're not particularly easy to spot: one is via Monmouth Street and the other is via Short's Gardens, which is just off Neal Street. A lovely community resource!…read more I'm so impressed with these types of opportunities provided in the UK, as nothing like this really exists in the US. Really cool, and aimed squarely at health and life enrichment for those living nearby. I was first introduced to the Shoreditch Healthy Living Centre as part of my NCT course -- where one of the days was held here. It's a bright, clean space with nice facilities. I attended a 3 hour workshop here and really enjøyed it. Also, I adore NCT -- another review to write! The second time I visited was to see the midwives right after my baby was born. Lucky me the Homerton Hospital Maternity Care Centre operates out of the ground floor here as well. I was able to pop over for the clinic and see the midwives when my babe was 4 weeks old for a general check, weight, etc. Saved me a long trek to Homerton, really convenient and essential as we were still recovering. Again, really liked the place and the staff was very friendly. It was on this visit that I realized how much was offered out of this centre...so I did a bit more digging! From their website: "Shoreditch Trust opened a purpose built Healthy Living Centre in autumn 2009, which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people living or working in City & Hackney and surrounding areas.Conveniently located a short walk from Old Street, Kingsland Road and other overground transport links, the Centre is ideally placed in the heart of the community. It is a visible, high quality, accessible resource, that supports and inspires people to prioritise their own and their families' health and that makes a substantial contribution to improvement in quality of life in an area of health inequality. A range of services are offered at the Centre including: *complementary therapies *small group body movement exercises *healthy cook & eat sessions *smoking cessation *mental wellbeing sessions *one to one coaching. *Bump Buddies *Good Food Programme. *Low Cost Therapies Available Minus a star because I tried to schedule some appointments (prenatal massage, acupuncture) and no one ever emailed me back. Lesson learned, call or pop in to schedule. Better results surely follow...I was quite overwhelmed at the time so I didn't have the energy to chase them. Now I do, though! Worth checking out.

She then put the needle in but missed the vain. On other occasion when she did succeed with the blood test, my arm went black the next day. Her desk is very untidy, surely staff like this must not be allowed to deal with pregnant patients. A one star is too many for this service.
