The staff was incredibly friendly and punctual. Going to this type of exam is not fun but they made the experience as pleasant as possible.

I also liked the waterfall and the detailed map in the front entryway. There was also an elevator along with stairs and a number of parking spaces. I saw Dr. Nguyen and she was in the allergy clinic on the second floor. Her staff/that office was very helpful since I did not receive the snail mail copy of questionnaire and I was able to fill it out in person. The only thing I felt a little awkward with was when it came time for me to get my allergy Test done, Dr. Nguyen, female doctor left the room and a male nurse came in to put the different allergens on my back as I was wearing a patient gown that was open in the back without my bra. Kind of awkward since all my encounters prior to this were female doctors or Female receptionist. I wish I could've asked for a woman to come in beforehand, but whatever! I needed to get the allergy test done and I felt awkward anyways, but I think they should ask ahead of time if you would feel comfortable with a male person touching your back without your bra on. Everything else was fine and he was professional, even though he was a male nurse. I just think it was in my head. Lol.

The front desk staff, however, felt a bit nonchalant and not especially welcoming. Check-in was okay but lacked warmth and didn't feel inviting/ welcoming. As someone who has been a Stanford Health Care patient for 15-years, this made the experience even more disheartening. I arrived 2-minutes late beyond the unknown 10-minute grace period policy and was told that my 2-minute delay constituted an automatic rescheduling of my appointment per the clinic's policy. On many occasions, Stanford Health Care has kept me waiting well past my scheduled appointment time. Despite their own lack of timeliness, I continued to be a loyal patient and extended understanding. Unfortunately, that same courtesy was not afforded to me. What was more frustrating wasn't just the policy itself, but how rigidly and unempathetically it was enforced. There was no prior written notice of this rule, no initial warning, no phone call, and no attempt to understand my personal situation or the urgency of my health concerns. Instead, I was met with a cold adherence to technicalities over patient care. For a well-known medical institution that claims its mission is "Healing humanity through science and compassion, one patient at a time," this experience felt like the complete opposite. There was no sense of compassion, no individualized consideration - just a blanket policy applied without regard for the patient in front of them. Women's health already faces enough barriers, and my experience like this only reinforced feelings of being dismissed and devalued as a woman. I left feeling unseen, unheard, denigrated, and frankly shocked that this is the standard of care being upheld by Stanford Health Care. Overall healthcare professionals should prioritize patient wellbeing above administrative rigidity, especially in fields as critical as women's health. The policy itself, along with the way it was handled by staff, felt both unethical and unprofessional. My experience was deeply discouraging. I expected better from Stanford Health Care whom I have trusted for over a decade as my medical provider. I hope Menlo Medical Clinic, seriously and proactively reflect on how their policy and actions affect the very people they are meant to treat with compassion and care.

I trust him and trust his opinion (shout out to Doctor Kim at the Fremont Clinic, he's the GOAT). I've been to Palo Alto VA several times now and trust them unequivocally. They have a partnership with Stanford Medical, so when I go to this VA campus, it "feels" like Stanford. In other words, the bedside manner, quality of care, attention to detail, etc have all been on par with Stanford and Sutter Health (two organizations which I hold in high esteem). I've been a licensed healthcare provider myself for close to 20yrs, I have worked in medical field in some capacity non-stop since 1999, close to 30yrs now... Suffice to say, I am very vigilant and pay attention to the little things. I advocate for my own care and I hold hospitals to account when I or my family are being seen. Palo Alto VA hasn't let me down once, I've seen them for routine issues, both inpatient and outpatient. To include a surgery (hernia repair) - VA PACHS is solid. In closing - if any of my fellow veterans have had issues or poor service from other VA hospitals, VA PACHS is different. They break the mold & I firmly believe they go above & beyond to care for us. Give them a chance.

This is a form of bullying. I would encourage more patients to report them in order to protect other veterans. Stephanie informed me that over 70% of the veterans relapse back into drugs or alcohol after discharge. She also informed me that veterans are more likely to commit suicide within first 7day of being discharged. This is alarming and needs attention ASAP. I think these doctors need to be removed because they appear to be dangerously careless to the care of veterans seeking help and support. I was discharged in the rain on a Friday night without my medical supplies. I fainted at a park and suffered from a mild TBI and Hypothermia. I was discharged after I discovered over maximum dose of 2 sleeping pills. Other programs like FOR and DOM I can't speak on but do not attend the TRP @ Menlo Park VA Medical Center. We were greeted at the entrance and directed to the second floor. There were no long lines there. Could be just the lucky time (it was a middle of a work day, so maybe that's why). In any case, there were quite a number of patients, but there were also many receptionists, who worked fast. So there was no waiting, which is always a pleasant surprise in any doctor office. Everybody were super friendly and nice! And then we met Dr. Owyang! He is unbelievable! He did more (as far as diagnosing the issues) that all previous doctors combined. He spent more then an hour with my mom and was very kind, patient, and most importantly - knowledgeable and professional! He explained everything, showed diagrams, pictures. It all made sense. He was able to diagnose a case (which turned out to be three separate issues) that puzzled all the doctors who saw her before. Thank you very much!
