Our family was at a crossroad and my husband was struggling to find his way back to us. That is until he found NIRC. I am forever grateful he found your program and walked through your doors. He entered broken and came out stronger. You gave him back his clarity and set him down a path with guidance, compassion and the tools that he needed to succeed. Pastor Bill Orris was his beacon and helped lead him through the fog. I am forever grateful that he found your program and ultimately found himself again along the way. He has now been sober one year and counting. There are no words to express the gratitude I have for your program and the impact it has had on our family. I honestly think we would be on a much different path had he not found NIRC and I hope that our story can give hope to others that are navigating through the darkness that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Absolutely horrible experience. I would not recommend Northern Illinois Recovery center. Her is…read morewhy: 1. Intake specialists lie to you. They said I can contact my son via cell phone. I am a single mom and I asked to have access to my son via cell phone and my work iPad to keep them updated. I will share the actual texts between me and the intake person at the end that proves this. 2. This facility is not equipped to handle detox. Day 1 of my arrival they gave me Valium to treat my alcohol withdrawal. They waited 10 minutes after I swallowed the pill and called the ambulance telling me they have no Intravenous or intramuscular available to give me, and they called an ambulance and sent me to a local hospital emergency room. Upon arriving there, the ER doctor said I was fine and the northern Illinois Recovery center should have waited at least 30-40 minutes for the Valium to work. My vitals were fine and the ER doctor was said I was medically cl to go back and he said I needed nothing from them as he checked me out and said all my vitals were good. Now you know I'm going to receive a bill for the ambulance and the ER visit that was completely unnecessary. That shows you the incompetence of the staff and the Director of Nursing at NIRC that made the decision to send me to the ER via ambulanc. Even the paramedics in the ambuLance said my vitals were fine and why aER they sending me to the hospital ER...after giving me a Valium 10 minutes ago and not waiting for it to take effect. 3. There was one interaction with a therapist and case manager for a 11 day stay. Both of them were useless, no follow-up. 4. There was one educational class a day and that's it. 5. On my last day, it was 5:30pm and I requested to stay overnight so I may attend the 6-7pm AA meeting. The nurse Eunice even recommended I stay overnight so I can attend that and it'll end at 7pm and I can receive my final night medications, otherwise I'd have no medications for night if they discharged me because it was a Sunday and all pharmacies close at 5 pm. So he said he had to get permission from the staff and director Nick. The director Nick and rest of staff said I had to be discharged immediately because I changed my mind to stay and my discharge papers were done. That was the answer I was given. Now what caring treatment center would do that? Not this one. I had to leave then and there, unable to say goodbye to most fellow inpatient friends I made. They were crying and so was I. 6. All of this show what a unprofessional, uncaring and incompetent director and staff they have. Here is the text messages from the intake specialist before I went in saying he spoke to Nick director and executive director regarding they'd allow me to talk to my son via cell phone and use of my work iPad.

I have been helped by obviously Dr. Landin, but also Barb, Claudine, the administrative assistants, and every other person who has worked there since I started going. I have received adjustments, therapeutic massages, trigger-point massages, advice on strengthening and stretching affected areas and more. Having had back issues much of my life from contact sports, I have suffered from related pain for most that time. However, once I started as a patient, Dr. Landin has improved my quality of life. Since Dr. Landin's initial care plan to get me on track, I have gone 1 day every other week without fail; this step in his care is called a maintenance schedule. I see the less than stellar reviews. Don't be a lemming; don't take the easy way out and sit on your ass reading reviews from people who might be inflexible and impatient. Landin Chiropractic care is a small, family-owned business and subject to life just like anyone else. Go in for a consultation and make up your own mind....that is what God gave it to you for! I have to say that my time there was not great but it wasn't terrible the people that work there…read moreespecially for one CNA Mariah she really cared for all her patients she deserves a raise. when i first got there she really noticed that i was in major pain and tried to make me as confortable as possible. When she told me about options about the shower schedule she had to do a bed bath on me and treated me with dignity and made me feel confortable. From that day on i knew that while she was there i was in good hands with a caring person. There was a few more people there that always made me confortable and these people are the reeptionist i always called her georgeous and she called me hansome she made me feel at home i didn't get here name and i am sorry. there was two more people that really kicked my butt in therapy and they were Agnes and Ross they really worked me because they knew how bad i wanted to go home and they did not take it easy on me i appreciated that there were days when i got back to my room and just exhausted. This is the reason that this review is not five stars and it comes down to privacy. This is more for the second shift when the door is closed to the room it is only proper to knock and wait to be answered before coming in to the room. They had a habit of just walking in the room without knocking. There was a couple of times where i was in the bathroom and they just barged in and opened the door. Even though it is a kind of a hospital vibe when the door to the room is closed it should be considered being private and the courtesy is to knock not just walk in the door. if i ever have to go back for rehab i would go back to avondale

We moved my mom out of Avondale Estates of Elgin within 36 hours of her admission due to multiple…read moreserious concerns about her care. We requested a breathing treatment three separate times, and it was finally given about five hours later. The nurse then left the mask on and did not return for about an hour to remove it. Afterward, my mom was put to bed and the call button was left on the chair, out of her reach. Late that night, after 11 p.m., someone entered her room claiming to be a doctor. When we informed the facility about this the next day as we were arranging to remove my mom, they said they had no idea who that person could have been. Our mom has significant edema and needs to keep her legs elevated, yet the facility had no recliners available. Her only options were to sit in a wheelchair or straight chair with her feet down, or lie flat in bed. We were also told that walkers were not allowed, which raises serious questions about how patients are supposed to regain strength and mobility to safely return home. After a shower, the bathroom floor was left wet and never mopped. Our mom slipped on the wet floor while brushing her teeth. We reported this and told them we were taking her home and arranging home health instead. To make matters worse, when the home health provider called to obtain her records, their calls were not returned. Based on our experience, this was a subpar facility and we would not recommend Avondale Estates of Elgin for anyone needing attentive, safe, and responsive care.

They were friendly. My grandma looked like she had been bathed and hair brushed. When I would talk to my grandma with questions about things they would come over on their own an answer my question. I didn't even have to ask. They adhered to her diet restrictions. I only had one complaint and they addressed it before I was even able to complain and it didn't happen again. They had private showers in their room. The bathroom was kept clean. She had her own room. All the other patients were lovely. ( Except for a grumpy guy but that's not their fault )If we are in this situation again I would definitely choose to send her here vs Waconda care. Hope this helps.

My father recently had a rehab stay at this facility after leaving Centegra after his lung surgery…read more My dad was resistant in the fact that he had to go to a facility for rehab instead of straight home, but that he did, made such a difference. During our phone conversations 800 miles apart, my dad expressed his genuine gratitude for the tender care and attention that every single member of the staff provided. My dad had a happy and successful stay. The PT and OT he received were excellent and if he ever had to go into a skilled facility again, this is where he would stay, hands down. My mother expressed her relief when she visited him and when she left at the end of the day. She knew he was being so well taken care of. Finding a quality rehab facility can be challenging as many of the reviews are negative posts. It's important that I share my family's excellent experience so that it may be easier for others to make a decision in their rehab facility search!
