I was apprehensive about the process and what I would be required to do. Everyone I had contact with was professional, knowledgeable, and very warm and friendly. After my first session, I was feeling comfortable with being there. I left that morning feeling confident I would be able to do what was needed and that my knee would be in good shape at the end. Micky was very good working with me and explaining the process. Throughout the sessions, Micky answered any questions I had, gave me suggestions, encouraged me, and kept me on track with her positivity. I also worked with Jessie for a few sessions and she too was very professional, a very good therapist. Micky helped me a lot and I felt very comfortable about the entire process and was an inspiration to me to keep at it. It is crucial that one does the exercises at home and Micky was very complimentary to me because she could see that I was working hard at home too. I was always encouraged to not be afraid and do the next little improvement to keep on target to the end. I was given exercises to do at home now that I finished with the therapy at Athletico. I am very pleased that I have something to follow to continue my recovery. Lauren is very warm and inviting at the reception desk. I can't say enough how well everyone takes their responsibilities with their clients and how hard they work to get you on the road to recovery. If I ever need therapy again, Athletico in Woodstock is my only choice.

From the moment I stepped inside, I felt like it was the Twilight Zone. Dark and musty, no lobby or…read morepeople to greet, I had to wander the halls searching for voices in the "activity room," which was down steps in the front of the building---a circle of wheelchairs, with half-asleep residents sitting in them. The staff was talking loudly amongst themselves all about how tired they were and how their weekends were...no direct communication with the residents that I could see. I finally was greeted by someone who brought me up some stairs (what is it with all these stairs?) to the office (food wrappers lying on the counter), but there was no brochure or rate sheet (she had to yell at another staff member to prepare one for me). She proudly told me that Florence NH was the "very first licensed nursing home in Illinois;" no kidding. It looked like the original wallpaper and linoleum floors. The rickety little gate they had to keep residents from falling down the stairs would not have been suitable as a dog gate, and was not even closed. Staff was glum, no greetings from anyone, the halls were dark and narrow, the bedrooms dank and musty---no bathrooms; shared bathrooms in the halls. The dining room was brighter, but the kitchen noise is right there, like a very cheap diner in the middle of nowhere. I was ready to leave as soon as the tour started, but I made my self see the whole place. I can tell you, I had a lump in my throat all the way back to the city, on the verge of crying, it was so depressing to think that people's "loved ones" were kept there. I admired the one old guy who sat outdoors on a chair all day, smoking his cigarettes and thinking to himself, not coming inside until he had to. Not sure what he does in the winter, but I will never be able to refer a client to this place.

My therapist who did the initial consult was great - but this review is about the tricky practices chains like this are known for. I called and explained I needed to start therapy but my insurance would be changing in the next 50 days because I got a new job. They assured me to come in, get an assessment and then we will schedule all follow ups once my insurance changed. Well, I did the assessment, my insurance changed about a month and half later and I called to make follow up appointments. When I did so, they told me the initial assessment was actually only "good" for 30 days and I would need to come in and do another assessment to be able to schedule follow ups. This was never mentioned to me and truly does not make sense. Other than it's a great tactic to bill insurance more (first one cost $200 out of pocket AFTER insurance). If this was told to me I would have just waited til my insurance changed and did the initial appointment and assessment later and not in advance. I'm so disappointed and really bummed as the actual therapist had great reviews and I was so excited to work with her. But because of this practice I won't return.
