Horrible customer service. The lady behind the counter demanded a 20 buck restocking fee on a 64 buck hard drive. My son didn't know any better and payed the fee. The hard drive was doa and didn't work at all. We went to Canada Computers and were treated like a valued customer from the moment we walked through the door. The difference was amazing. One of the oldest computer shops in the Lower Mainland, ATIC was the place to buy your PC computer parts, accessories and PC desktop computers and laptops - if you were a computer enthusiast (nerd or geek) who enjoyed building their own PC at a great price back in the 90's and early 2000's. They were famous for their terrible service. In 1998, I built a desktop PC workstation from scratch at their store because their staff was too busy to build a custom-built computer on the same day for me. I was working for an architect company that needed a new computer ASAP. I ordered and paid for the parts from the counter and they told me to go to the back room and build it yourself, so I did it in less than one hour. Their parts were problem free and the computer worked flawlessly. This was at the original location. They closed their original location at 45 East Broadway and moved two blocks west on Broadway. When I visited their current location, they had one staff member at the counter. It's a place where you can't walk in and browse like Best Buy or Apple, but you have to know what you want. It's like ordering at a fast food counter. You will need to go to their 90's style website (they haven't changed their website design since 1995) and browse through their products. Write down, print or show on your phone what you want to buy and bring cash if you want to pay less. Service was quick, efficient and pleasant. I asked for a bag and the staff gave me an old Safeway plastic bag. I never had to return any products or dealt with warranty because their products were mostly problem free. Since I use Apple now, I have no desire to purchase any of their Windows-based PC or laptop computers. read more

This wonderful store is perfect for buying computer parts. The nice woman there knows everything and gives perfect advice. And she is careful to limit your expenses so she never tries to make you buy anything you don't need. This store really cares that you get the right parts. It is also the last of the brick & mortar stores that you can go to and show your computer manuals to get compatible parts instead of gambling by buying stuff online without an expert to help you. Chu-heap. You'd be hard pressed to find cheaper computer parts anywhere in Canada (most of the time). However this comes with it's own price because the sales staff at Atic would just as soon spit on you as look at you. I wouldn't really call them sales staff, come to think of it. More like elitist store-counter monkeys. There's often a lineup at said counter, because that's how you actually get your grubby, unworthy paws on their precious merch. Woe unto he who walks up to The Counter and does not know the precise sku he wants. He may not survive the ensuing encounter with the monkeys. After all, looking up crap on their website is what the several computer terminals set up around the shop are all about. The consensus is to avoid like the plague unless you're tech-savvy, know precisely what you want (and have verified that it's in stock before showing your ugly mug in the physical store), and are so strapped for cash that you need to save $5 on a video card. read more

I went here for the cheap proximity, and had been recommended by a friend. The Yelp reviews were a little off-putting, but I thought I'd try anyway. I ordered a Cintiq, which are pretty hard to get a hold of here in Vancouver, and they told me it would be there within the next day or 2? Huh? Wow! And sure enough, it arrived the morning of the second day, and a phone call notified me it was in. Fast! So sure, the best doesn't look great, sometimes you have to wait awhile, but I got what I wanted quick, and that was really all that mattered :) read more

Haven't been in years but I was very much less than impressed when I was last there. Curt, unfriendly, busy, no display. And this despite me knowing my way around computers and hardly needing handholding from the staff. Yes, those are the words that come to mind with ATIC. Prices? Weren't that impressive, hardly anything to justify my shopping there. I suspect people who don't know any better think that they are very competitive. They are, compared to buying parts at FutureShop, but that's a very low bar to beat. I paid them $70 to help fix my brand-new gaming computer that kept restarting. My computer was returned with the exact same problems. When asked for a diagnosis they were super vague as to what was making it restart. Waste of money, go to memory express for cheaper prices. You're basically paying for vague advice. read more

Atic is a scam. Friend bought me a mother board from Atic which does not work. Tried to return/ exchange but they would not, saying that we are trying to pull a scam. We have just purchased well over $1500 worth of product from Atic and this how they treat you. They are pulling a scam!!! I would never give them another dime!!! I found ATIC while on the hunt for a copy of windows 7 to partition my iMac. Every other computer store I called only had windows 8.1. When I stumbled upon the ATIC website and saw it was in stock, I called to confirm and the lady that answered the phone was very sweet and helpful. I went in the next day and I'm pretty sure it was the same woman working. I needed an external disk reader as well and she made sure I got one that was Mac compatible (as I had explained I was partitioning my computer), something I didn't even think about when asking for one. I had some questions about the disk reader and a man working there explained it all quite thoroughly. I was very pleased with the service. The store itself is very small and easily overlooked from the outside. Most of their stuff is in the back behind a counter so you can't really browse around, you'd need to have an idea as to what your looking for. They also charge a small fee if you pay with credit as opposed to cash or debit. They're website is pretty basic but it's easily navigated and lists all the different things they have in stock (you can also order both electronics and parts online) so if your unsure if they have something your looking for you can check there and call to confirm. I had a very good experience here and I'll certainly be back if I'm in the market for any computer accessories. read more

used to be one of the cheapest places in town. no longer. but the worst thing is their customer service. their ferengi-like clerks are probably the worst i have ever encountered. terrible interpersonal skills and personal manner. if you happened to venture into this snake pit, you'd better know exactly what you want. don't expect a cappuccino and/or a massage from these guys. prices and selection are still good though. read more

(I have left this same review on their facebook page. I've specifically made a yelp account to post this review because this experience leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I would like to inform people of it). I ordered an Asus RX 480 from the site two weeks ago, and only found out today that it had been discontinued and subsequently, that I would not receive my product. The disappointing thing is that I was never notified of this, my order was never cancelled, and until I happened to phone them today concerning another product (MX300 275GB), I had assumed that it was being delivered to the store (something that I had confirmed with their staff over phone when I ordered the RX 480). Had I not called, I have little doubt that I would never have received notification. Just an fyi, the MX300 275GB which I called about today was also discontinued indefinitely, despite being displayed on the website and allowing my order to go through. Again, no notification. Luckily, I had my orders done on cash at pickup. I am so glad that I did not trust them with my credit card information. Completely unprofessional and would not trust or recommend to anybody. read more

Price are decent and the location is convenient but you have to be 100% sure of what you buy there as they have a nazi return policy. Even if the product they sell you is wrong you're stuck with it after. Definitely not worth any savings with that kind of risk. read more

I had a good experience recently with this store. I was looking for a particular GPU and found this store's website had it listed but through special order. I did email to confirm I need to place a special order with them. When I went into the store I was a bit surprised of the layout lacking display models of PC's and such, and everything was behind a counter. I wasn't put off, and everything was neatly listed on their website. I did place my order and I got both an email and phone call about 3 weeks later when it arrived. I'm happy I got my GPU cheaper then any other price listed online, and was very easy to place my order with them. But if your looking to try something hands on, or wanting physically browse an item you may want to call ahead as they have minimal items displayed on their sales floor. read more

While it's been a few years since I lived in Vancouver and shopped at ATIC, I still reflect fondly on the extremely amazing customer service I received on a snowy winter day in December 2008. My husband and I were buying new parts and cases, and were helped by a very kind and attentive older gentleman, who helped us select exactly what we needed. We're both Very computer literate, and it was great to have a salesman who didn't talk down to us, like what you'll get at Best Buy and the like. It was so nice to be able to outline the benchmarks we wanted in our products and be given options with exactly what we described. There was even an error in pricing on the case we got, and they surprised both of us by immediately offering the marked price. The staff was educated, jovial, and helped us with some extra packaging, knowing we were taking these shiny new parts on the bus. The merchandise is affordable, but great quality. I'm still running that motherboard with no problems in the gorgeous Lian Li case we got the same day. The store is a little small and a little run down, but at the price and service level, it just makes it all the more quaint to me. If I still lived here I would still be shopping at ATIC. read more

Service isn't what I'd call helpful - make sure you get the EXACT model number you ask for before leaving the store.

This isn't a store for the faint of heart or the technology challenged. This isn't a "browser around" type of store - when you go into the store you need to know exactly what you want (I'd print off their website listing of what you want) and show no fear when you go up to the counter. The do provide some good advice on occasion, but I wouldn't rely on getting it. The payoff is that it's cheap, you will pay less (In some cases WAY less) then you would with one of the bigger "name" stores. read more

I bought my first computer here in around 2000. I still remember it costing me $3050, which is ridiculous in the year 2015 for a basic build, but it was what it was. I was 15 at the time, and this was one of the few stores where most computer nerds shopped at. I remembered coming back here a few times over the years and always received next to no service. These are the type of shops where you better know what you want prior to coming. If you want product advice, you head across the street to Best Buy, as they do not seem incline to offer advice. I will never forget the long-hair Chinese guy that worked there. He always knew what he was talking about, but never seem too enthusiastic to help. The general vibe I get from Atic is that you spend more and ask less. The shop hasn't changed much since the hay day, the same can be said about their online website, which the layout hasn't changed in the last 15 years (I am not kidding). How this business manages to survive against their competitors (NCIX and Memory Express) is beyond me as they have poor service, poor store layout, and an online website that can easily be mistaken as a fraudulent one. Most important of all, they do not price match their competitors. My take is, either most of their revenue is from enterprise sales, or they're laundering money (half joking). read more

I agree, decent prices but standoffish service. Think "Comic Book Guy" from the Simpsons but selling technology instead of comics. Occasionally I'll go here if they have something in stock that sold out @ Anitec or NCIX; but otherwise I'd rather price-match to NCIX. read more

Prices may be good, but what grates is the wrong information they provide and the very poor service they "provide". I'm never going back.

ATIC Computers is a business established on poor service. Their parts are cheap and their workmanship is terrible. Their technicians don't know how to service computers, and will often deploy the worst solution to a problem. Their computers are built with substandard parts, and they often need servicing after a few months, but the store can't afford to service the computers they sell. Their solution to that problem is to discourage after-sale service by being rude to customers who ask for service. They will not hesitate to call you stupid; they will put the blame for the failure of their product on you; they have been trained to treat you like a pest that's trying to rip them off. Even if you just ask them how to install or configure a part, they will tell you that it's not worth their profit margin to talk to you. read more
