Enjoyed an absolutely authentic Kathiyawadi dining experience today! We started with Khaman, Methi Gota, Dahi Puri, and Samosa Chaat - each dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. For the main course, the Kaju Gathiya, Vagharelo Rotlo, and Ringan Bharthu were outstanding. Every dish carried the rich, homestyle flavors that make Kathiyawadi cuisine so special. The highlight of the meal was definitely their Special Unlimited Thali! Packed with a variety of delicious dishes, it was a true feast and a must-try experience. And the Ras was simply incredible - sweet, refreshing, and so delicious that I couldn't get enough of it! If you love authentic Kathiyawadi food, this place is definitely worth visiting. Looking forward to coming back again soon!

PROs- no wait time and location and decent food CONs- service , some dishes tasted average I was happy to see a Kathiawadi restaurant near Edison and wanted to taste it . We always go to Sayreville restaurant but that one has so much of wait time . There was no wait time in athithya and location wise it was good. Lots of space inside to sit and dine . Ambience looked below average . Thali was about 22$ , and price wise it was ok.. service was bad. They keep the thali and go inside kitchen and don't even ask you what you want . In Sayreville restaurant they keep going around asking customers what they need and keep filling the food . We ordered a Kathiawadi thali and Punjabi thali . More than half items were common in both thalis . They had dhokla and few other Gujarati items in Punjabi thali !!! I don't know the names of the dishes but some were very oily and no salt/spice in them . Some were really good . Punjabi dhal was extra ordinary . Gujarati dhal rice was superb . Paneer items were ok . Samosa / sweet were good . Overall we had an average experience.. 3 stars

First unlimited thali experience and we had alot of fun dining here trying all the different sides. This restaurant is vegetarian so no meat option available. We got the Kathiyawadi and the Gujarati thali. You get complimentary sides that had pickled cabbage, peppers and red onions. They also had 3 sauces - I'm not sure what they are but one tasted like ginger candy, one mango chutney, and the last one was a savory spice dip. You start your thali with a butter milk, which I am not a big fan of. It tasted like watered down savory milk. If you're not familiar with Indian food and is just here to try the different taste, I would recommend picking between the Kathiyawadi and Gujarati thali for one, and then get the Punjabi thai. The Kathiyawadi and Gujarati tasted very similar with only 4 of the dishes being different. Ultimately they were all just different ways of preparing eggplant, chick peas, and tomatoes. The Punjabi thali might taste a bit different than the two. Overall I was a bit disappointed by the lack of variety with the vegetable and taste even though this was a vegetarian place. I think I'm also not used to Indian food and the spice so it is not for me. The staff were super friendly and patient explaining the dishes. If you like Indian this is a place not to miss!!

    Regular pav bhaji $11

I was doing a happy dance the whole time I was eating! Gujarati thali $22 (4 Shak, 2 Farsan, 2 Sweet, Rotli Dal Bhat Papad, Pickle, Salad, Masala Chaas) - this was all really good but the one the boyfriend and I enjoyed the most was the dal. We've had dal before at other places, but the one here was just so delicious. Samosa chaat $7 so saucy which is my favorite thing about chaat Vada pav $9 boyfriend's favorite Pani puri $9 shell held up really well! Regular pav bhaji $11hot and flavorful Very friendly staff who was very patient and explaining what was in each thali to us. Thank you!! We'll be back for sure!

Condiments - special mention is the white jaggery in the middle bowl
    Latha P.

Phulka - Hot soft airy phulkas Lasuniya batata - simple garlic flavored potato curry - a perfect accompaniment for the phulkas Dhayir waited at our table and he was patient , explained the dishes well and suggested their specials and their unique offering Vaghrelo rotlo that was a must try . Vaghrelo rotlo was honey one of a kind dish that I tasted for the first time . - have not seen this on the menu of any other Gujarat restaurant. Their condiments were fresh and added the need lift to the meal . Must mention the jaggery which is unique Not a fancy looking place but food was delectable and authentic . Walk in through the Piizza place and this restaurant in on the right side . Both places are owned by the same person . Service was top notch and personal . I will be back and would highly recommend this place .

I LOVE INDIAN FOOD! Even earned a Yelp fan badge to prove it. But I've never had the pleasure of experiencing authentic Kathiyawadi cuisine until visiting this establishment. Three words to sum up the food here: DEE - LI - SHUS! Meat eaters be advised that this menu is vegetarian only BUT rest assured that the flavor more than makes up for the lack of meat. In fact, there's absolutely no need to eat meat if you're regularly eating from Kathiyawadi kitchens. Admittedly, I was a bit confused when I first approached the restaurant because the entrance was shared with the neighboring pizzeria. In fact, the dining rooms are conjoined. It's sorta a weird layout. We order d the Gujarati Punjabi Kathiyawadi and Chana masala all of which provided a broad sampling of various dishes featuring rice, chick peas, lentils, potatoes, dal, among different sauces and accompanied by a stack of at least 10 papad. Everything tasted SO GOOD! Can't wait to visit again to explore the menu of thalis.

The menu on the website is inconsistent with what they have. I ordered through their website the tiffin take out special. I should have gotten 2 sabsi, 4 Rothi, dal, and rice. What I received was pav bhaji. When I called the restaurant to let them know of their error, a manager named Darshan berated me and said I should have ordered through a WhatsApp group instead of online. Then he tried to gaslight me and say that they don't even have a website. Just an overall horrible experience with this restaurant. I would not recommend this place at all.

What do you get when you cross a pizza place with an Indian restaurant? This place.

5 stars if it was less dirty. Great food although I don't know what I ate was called! In fact, my waiter selected some items that only my photo will document what I ordered and ate. But it was delicious! If anyone reading this, including the restaurant management, wants to tell me what I ate for future reference, I thank you in advance.

This place felt like I was eating lunch at a friend's place. The vibe was homely and the service was very good. The staff were welcoming and very warm. I ordered a Gujarati thali and my mom and husband ordered kathiyawadi thali. Both came with 4 curries. All were delicious and it was all you can eat. The samosas in the thali were very tasty. The chaas was very tasty too.

    Kathiyawadi thali

Large dining room, attentive and friendly service. The thali plate was really good, especially the khichdi, ringan bharta, and sev tameta.

This is Dhokla, white, made of rice flour.

Ordered delivery: I'm just disappointed in the restaurant and its ethics about food allergies and customers??? Is questionable. Ordered Dhokla and regular Pav Bhaji Mild. Instead, I got Khaman and very greasy bhaji. No chopped onions. Taste is acceptable. But why would they not call if they didn't have what I ordered? Honestly, I'm allergic to chick peas flour which the Khaman are made of. You be the judge, very left white are Dhokla do they look anything like Khaman to the right? Nope. And the Bhaji is very greasy.

Amazing food. Same taste as Indian thali in India. Baingan bhartha tastes great along with other sabjis. Smokiness of bharta is amazing.

Pani Poori- 6 pcs - these were tasty though the chutney was more like syrup. The water used came out in a small bottle which was cool. Crispy Baby Corn- great indochinese appetizer, the baby corn is lightly battered and fried then tossed in a sauce Soya Masala Curry- this was a flop. The tomato onion based curry lacked salt and spice and the actual soya pieces were too soft and mushy in texture. Wish these were a bit more dense as experienced in other restaurants. Roomali Roti- drown in ghee and it must have sat over a gas flame because it tasted of bad chemicals. Basically like eating the ghee-soaked cotton swabs from the candles at the local temple. Kathiyawadi Thali- the wife's dish- she enjoyed two if the items but this was not a great experience either. I was disappointed in the vast difference in quality between two visits. The person who services us was very kind and helpful with the selections. I went here for lunch with some of our friends and family and after having had a heavy home breakfast and hence didn't have an appetite for the Thali meals. That's the same reason I didn't click a lot of pics like I would usually do. The vegetable biryani, SPDP chaat and puris with aloo subzi came in no time from the time we ordered. As much as the food was tasty I found them bit salty and the subzi little oily - this coming from a salt lover who tends to add salt to anything he eats, you can trust me. Overall a good restaurant serving quality food and with ample parking space (weekend parking story could be little different).

We also tried the tandoori chaap, which was flavorful, tender, and beautifully grilled with a smoky aroma. We had planned to try several items but ended up ordering only Sarson ka Saag - Makki ki Roti and Dahi Puri due to limited availability. The saag was flavorful, though the roti seemed to be a mix of besan and makki (cannot confirm this though). The Dahi Puri was okayish, but little bit too dry. Hence, won't recommend this dish. Many guests were turned away because of the inaccurate closing time listed online. I recommend calling ahead to confirm before visiting.

Saoji is a fiery, deeply spiced, mostly non-vegetarian cuisine said to have originated with the…read moreHalba Koshti weaver community of Madhya Pradesh. When the community migrated to Nagpur in 1877, their food followed -- spreading through the tradesfolk and mill workers who embraced its bold flavors. Today, Saoji is considered the signature cuisine of Nagpur: intensely spiced, unapologetically hot, and built around powerful, roasted masalas. Tonight we ate at Nagpuri Saoji in Voorhees (they also have a location in Iselin), and these two spots are reportedly the only places in the U.S. where you can experience this cuisine in its full, blazing glory. To Start We began with sabudana vada -- the classic Maharashtrian fritter made from tapioca pearls, mashed potatoes, peanuts, and spices. Served piping hot and impossibly crisp outside with a tender interior, they came with two chutneys and were absolutely sublime. Alongside that was goat sukka, a dry-style mutton preparation associated with the Mangalore and Udupi regions, with spice influences tracing back to Goa and even Arab and Turkish traders. Coriander, fennel, cumin, black peppercorns, and fenugreek give it depth and warmth. It was bold, savory, and incredibly flavorful. The Curries I ordered chicken kala masala curry, and it was deeply earthy, nutty, and robustly savory. "Kala" means "black" in Marathi -- referring both to the color and to the roasted spice blend itself. Cumin, coriander, cloves, cinnamon, stone flower, coconut, sesame seeds, and chillies are roasted and ground into a dark, complex masala that lingers beautifully on the palate. We also ordered Goat Handi, with tender meat in a velvety, aromatic gravy, and a Malwani goat curry, made with Malvani masala from the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra -- a spice blend that balances heat with coastal warmth and depth. Rice, plain naan, and indulgent Amul cheese naan rounded out the meal. Dessert We finished with Sitafal Rasmalai (custard apple-infused rasmalai) and Jamun Rabdi -- both creamy, fragrant, and perfect against the lingering spice. A Few Notes Like much traditional Asian cooking, the meat dishes are cooked on the bone -- so eat mindfully. And if you request "hot," they mean hot. This is not toned-down spice; this is the real deal. I was thrilled to try dishes from India that I've never made before. Saoji cuisine is bold, unapologetic, and absolutely delicious -- and I'll definitely be adding some of these flavors to my home repertoire. If you have the opportunity to try this cuisine -- do it.

The tarri tasted weird so it ruined the entire dish. Same tarri was present in the misaal too, so this dish was ruined too. Sol kadhi was average. The service was fast and the ambience is okay-ish. Honestly, would not recommend this place for their vegetarian options!
