    Buffet

We came here on a whim as we were driving back from a long trip. It was my first time here and we were seated immediately. They have buffet for the weekend which was a bit overpriced compared others ($30+PP). I did like their chicken tikka and chicken 65 here. The buffet selection was small, I wish they had more paneer and dessert options. The staff was pleasant, however I would recommend an alternate option for buffet.

What a great first experience! Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Took my wife here for Valentine's Day. Was looking for an Indian restaurant that had exceptional food and a more upscale atmosphere; happily, this had both. They had the place decorated for the holiday, which just added to the experience. We tried a variety of dishes, more than we could eat, knowing we'd have leftovers. All were perfectly prepared and delicious. Austin (probably not spelled exactly right) was a fantastic waiter that offered great suggestions and was so pleasant. I'd highly recommend.

The food was so flavorful, fresh and delicious. Service was excellent and the ambiance and decor were delightful. I will definitely make the drive to try more options as it was my first time trying Indian cuisine and I love it.

This is a pretty average buffet for Edison, New Jersey. I was expecting it to be a lot better considering the catering they offer at weddings and other events are pretty amazing. I really liked the decor of the place. They had an open window so you can see the cooks in the kitchen. The bathroom had an amazing mirror that added a classy vibe. I really liked their art around the restaurant as well. The service at the buffet wasn't the best. Usually at most Indian buffets, the staff is on top of taking away dishes. Here, a lot of times, I would come back and the plates were still on the small table. The mango lassi that we ordered was delicious. I really liked how it wasn't too sweet. The chickpea dishes here were pretty amazing. I felt like the chickpeas were fresh. The paneer rolls weren't good and we weren't sure if the item was mislabeled because it tasted like chicken not paneer. The desserts here were very different. There was a paan rice pudding which had a weird after taste.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. Came here with my family, all of who are quite selective about Indian food, and we were all blown away. I'm surprised and disappointed to see a lot of reviews tanking the rating here just based on price? Not every Indian place needs to be cheap or be a buffet. I appreciate that this place has a beautiful interior, quality cutlery and dishes, and of course most importantly insanely good food. I've definitely seen places that are faux-fancy or are all looks but the food itself is not great or the quantity is super low, this is not one of those places. It's pricy, ($25 curries), but you still get enough food and the quality is fantastic. The bar has superb cocktails and good beer selection too, and service is fast moving even with the large crowd (looks like almost 100 people right now). Overall, this is one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. I will definitely be bringing friends. And I challenge folks to not lump Indian food into some category of having to be cheap - every other cuisine has a full range of price points and types, let's not force Indian restaurants to be only one type of way.

Went here on a Sunday evening for the first time. The interior is decent, a bit traditional not modern. We ordered masala papad, mango lassi, and kadai paneer, methi malai mutter, and badshah kofta. The food was really good. I am very picky about Indian food in US but I liked it. I wasn't disappointed. Service was good too. Just know that its not a cheap restaurant. But overall definitely recommend.

    Throwback prices

Came here for the 40th anniversary with friends and had such a great time. With their throwback prices we ordered cocktails, samosas, multiple dishes and dessert. While it was busy we didn't feel rushed, waiter was really attentive and checked in enough where it wasn't too often and we didn't feel neglected. The cocktails were great, had some spice to is which I really enjoy. Usually there 1-2 cocktails that are spicy on a menu but this had a few different options. There are lights on the table which made the ambiance really nice, the right amount where you can see each other and not too dim. The food was a bit more spicy than I'm used to but it had the right amount of heat. Food was overall great, throwback prices are even better, cocktails were a bit pricey at $16 each and we really enjoyed dinner here. Go there if you have deep pockets and need small quantities of food. The food was good. This is a fine dining restaurant. After staying there sometime in the restaurant the servers do not care about showing up again for any follow-on orders. We went with family, and we tried their LAMB SHEEKH KABAB, DAKSHINI JHINGA, PURANI DILLI KA BUTTER CHICKEN, HYDERABADI GOAT DUM BIRYANI, MALAI KOFTA CURRY the food was good but the reason I gave 3 stars is because I could find better food in Edison, NJ for lesser price.

The seafood is extremely fresh, the broths are rich and flavorful, and the selection of small dishes is huge. There are tons of options for sides, appetizers, and even BBQ items before the meal. The dessert selection is also impressive. One thing I hope they can improve is the ice jelly (冰粉). The current red version tastes a bit like Jell-O, which feels a little off compared to authentic Chongqing ice jelly -- would love to see a more traditional texture and flavor in the future. My personal must-haves here are the lobster, crayfish, beef tripe, and pork aorta (黄喉) -- always fresh, always delicious. Overall, amazing quality, super fresh seafood, and great variety. No wonder we keep coming back.

There is such a large selection of seafood to choose from, for the price of $63.99 per person, it is not bad especially considering how much seafood and meat costs. Ordering is easy as each table has their own tablet to place orders but my only gripe was that staff need to enter a code before you can submit to the kitchen. Drinks are self service and you can get as many as you like, from sodas, water, soy milk, green tea. There is also a sauce bar that is kept very clean. Decor is amazing as staff informed me that the paintings on the walls were hand painted by an artist from China. For every 2 people, you get an option of a lobster or another type of seafood. Seafood options range from mussels to class and even razor clams. Plenty of meat and veggie options as well. Although this is supposed to be a hotpot and bbq restaurant, hotpot is the only thing available as the restaurant does not have the proper ventilation installed for the bbq grills, although the grills are right next to the hotpot. That's unfortunate as I was looking forward to grilling some of the seafood. For dessert, they had durian which I tried for the first time. It was super creamy and sweet! I've been missing out this whole time! Overall, our entire experience was great and I would definitely return.

You don't pay for a wonderful "experience" --- that was never part of the package. UMI Premium Sushi & Seafood Buffet changes that, and offers the Chinese Buffet in a setting that is bright, open, and beautifully decorated. There is no real "server" when you come here, all of the servers work as a collective --- you call one down, they bring you your drink, another passes by they collect your plate. These workers definitely work in harmony. Now I have to say: this Buffet is a bit pricier than the normal "Flaming Grill & Buffet" --- adults are $23.99 and kids are between $11-16. But remember: you getting not just the food --- your getting what most other buffets don't offer: AN EXPERIENCE. Besides the "hot dishes" like hibachi beef and orange chicken, UMI Premium Sushi & Seafood Buffet offers a wide variety not seen anywhere else: Hot Pot anyone? Included! Ramen? Included! Since this is a popular buffet, it seems the food is refreshed quite often, meaning nothing will remain in the warmers for too long. Some of my favorites? Salt and Pepper Shrimp, Braised Pork Belly, and the Cantaloupe Boba Tea. True to it's name, this Buffet exceeded my expectations, was an absolute EXPERIENCE and I can't wait for another visit!

The restaurant is very spacious and perfect for large groups and families. There's peanuts, fried broad beans, and sunflower seeds at the table for you to eat while waiting for the food. The buffalo fish does have many small bones which they warn about, but the flesh is very more meaty than most fishes and I don't mind the bones. The spicy garlic base comes with tons of garlic and is the perfect amount of spice. We added the mung bean noodles, lotus root and enoki mushrooms. The portion for the add-ons are very generous!

I remember this hot pot place from a long time ago when it was called Little Sheep. It was supposedly regrouped and rebranded as Happy Lamb in 2017. It is a bit old-fashioned in that instead of an individual hot pot for each seat, it offers one stove per table and up to two different broths for the pot. Also, aside from the proteins which you need to order through the wait staff, we get to grab the rest of the side ingredients ourselves, unlike at more modern hot pot places which must be explicitly ordered. In this way, I can take just one piece of calamari and one slice of winter melon, grab more if I like it without troubling anyone, just like at a regular AYCE buffet. Another plus is that it's finally possible to track your own items!!! The thinly sliced meats are always nice. The mala beef was really spicy, even after swishing it in the broth a few times. The giant prawns were the star of the pot--so sweet and tasty--until I realized none were deveined, at which point I stopped eating them. The beverages (e.g. plum) and dessert soups (coconut sago and white wood ear), while sounded tempting, were all disappointing. They were poorly rendered and over-diluted. Service was on point. Ambiance was so so. Price was fair. 3.5 out of 5.

This experience likely doesn't reflect how this restaurant usually is because I have been here before and had a much better experience. I will still share our experience from this past visit, but keep in mind it's probably not representative of how they usually are. The basic AYCE menu (there is a premium option) includes unlimited meat (lamb, beef, marinated beef, chicken, and pork), drinks, and the other ingredients from the buffet bar (self-service). In the buffet bar, they have noodles, veggies, mushrooms, pumpkin, a variety of fishballs, gizzard, shrimp, squid, and other items. The selection isn't wonderful but also not bad for the price. There was no taro or enoki which are pretty common hot pot items. There is a sauce bar, some small snacks (wood ear mushroom, pickled cabbage, etc), fresh fruit, cakes, appetizers (spring rolls, fried bread with condensed milk, mala crawfish (awful quality and not edible), and fried rice), a soda fountain, and traditional Chinese dessert soups. During the peak lunch time, many dishes were out and not refilled; they also ran out of cups and plates for a long time. Fruits, scallions, several ingredients, and sauces were out and took a long time to refill. They even ran out of soda completely towards the end of the lunch rush. Again, it wasn't a great experience but likely was just a result of poor planning on the restaurant's part during a promotion weekend. Service: The staff was trying their best to keep up, and they were very friendly. Even though there was a lack of service, when we were able to get someone's attention, they were very nice and helpful. They seemed very understaffed for the first couple of hours of the lunch rush, but this isn't their fault. Ambiance: The restaurant is very big with several tables that can accommodate both small and large groups. Decor is nothing special, but the seating is comfortable. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant but not when they're packed!
