HIGHLY recommend if you are looking for a wedding cake in Amherst! They delivered it to our venue with no issues and it was a very seamless process for us overall. & the cake was delicious!

Atkins Farms is a photographers dream market. All the food is good enough to be photographed for a DK kids book or a cook book. Atkins has lovely gifts, flowers, holiday stuff, a bakery, seating with prepared foods. Also no other market in Amherst, or Hadley has fresher food. If you are a Japanese or Italian food snob and you are making sushi or a caprese salad this is the place you need to go for your ingredients.

This is the only place I or my family members have been able to find Keogh's Truffle and Real Irish Butter potato chips, and this alone earns them 5 stars. They are also one of the few places to pick up Outlook Farms White Peach hard cider. Not that either is guaranteed to be easy to find, but at Atkins at least I have hope. On top of the great finds, though, there is nice deli selection, hot sandwiches, a decedent bakery and chocolates section, and of course a lot of high quality fresh veg. There is also an ice cream section outside that I haven't eaten at which has seating both right next to it and a more general seating section where you can eat your deli items. I believe there's also seating indoors but I have not used that myself. Prices in general are not cheap, however, especially in the freezer section. We have found some pretty good deals in the fruits and vegetables, however, and the grapes we just picked up were cheap and are top notch. Another slight negative is that ordering sandwiches is quite slow and a bit complicated, the process involves a lot of standing around and waiting, especially when it is crowded, but even when it does not seem to be particularly crowded. The sandwiches you do finally get are great, though. It takes us about 20 minutes, or maybe a little more, to get to a Atkins so for us it is a rare trip and kind of a "destination" shopping outing, during which we also get lunch. I don't think I would ever get all my groceries here just because the prices are a bit steep and it's too far from me, but for the occasional outing to buy fun things and have a good lunch we are more than happy to set aside some time on the weekend and spend a good afternoon browsing and eating at Atkins.

Cannot emphasize enough as a business point of view how well this place is run. From friendly staff, quick service and clean / maintained floors. Everything about here is what you should expect a well ran business to be. If your new to the area you can find yourself with a shopping cart full of stuff. I popped for the sakes of it and as I was walking around I found myself getting a bunch of healthy snacks for the work week. I think I did well passing up the candy store despite it all looking delicious. I checked out the deli and found myself getting a sandwich for lunch. Although eating a sundae first spoiled the thought of eating it now. I know where this place for when I am in the area. Certainly worth coming in and supporting your local community.

Atkins is a supermarket with seating next to the bakery. The deli has a big food selection and I tried a meatball and turkey reuben sandwich, a wedding meatball soup and a cider donut. It was pleasantly surprising to find international items, reminiscent of countries I've recently visited. The service for check out was quick, and it had a quiet ambiance. It didn't give a farm-like feel, except for the apple cider and soup offerings. The presence of a tourist map for exploration was appreciated. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I would definitely consider returning.

Horrible service and super dirty. 3 women working behind bakery counter doing nothing with arms folded. Every table filthy and asked one if they had anything to clean tables. She lazily pointed to spray bottle and says Yah there's stuff over there. We asked a question about the maple sugar. They looked at us and said did you ring the candy bell?? So we ring the candy bell. They look at us and ignore us. Felt like I was being pranked. Serious lack of work ethic and management here. One bright spot - the deli guy was nice.

4/5 overall, 3/5 for donuts! Not very crowded around 10:00AM on a Sunday. Pros: -Donuts! Way more varieties than I thought--both cake and yeast. -Donuts are inexpensive -- Staff donut recommendation: cider donut $1.98 for 2 donuts Cider Donut Small cake donut with sugar coating. Soft cake that was a bit dry. Would definitely be better warm. Honey Dip Plain glazed donut. Very thick. Good amount of glaze, but not particularly memorable.

Such a cute market with pumpkins, apple cider donuts (not warm/fresh but still delicious), a bakery, ice cream, and probably a lot more :)

Does Atkins Farms offer vegan baked goods?

I did definitely see vegan baked goods by the apple cider donuts and other baked treats! They have a big vegan sticker on them!

I wasn't sure if my mind was playing games on me, but on my last trip to Northampton this chocolate stand was called Heavenly Chocolate, and now they're called Firetype Chocolate. They simply decided to go for a new name. They're just a small stand located across from Share Northampton. The chocolate variety they offer is anything but small. One little truffle will set you back almost $3.00. As far as I could tell everything is sold individually, not by weight. I got some of the chocolate that sounded a bit interesting, also the barks are a bit larger than the truffles. I got the Salted Almond Bark, Maple Honeycomb and another one that's very similar. These are such quality chocolates. The honeycomb is a bit sticky, and you might need to floss your teeth right after. They also have a small selection of gummy candy. I got the pear, these are soft and juicy. These are unique, flavorful chocolates, that any chocolate lover is sure to appreciate. Firetype Chocolates are made by hand right here in Northampton. This is their only physical location.

Inside you can find penny candy by the pound, a bit past the entrance with local papers and events. This might be where you expect a local General Store to offer you, if you mistook them for Provisions around the corner. At Provisions, you'd find more drinks, some foods, and other house staples. At The General Store, you can find, generally, everything else, including Art you didn't know you needed. I suppose the candy is a reliable reason for my visit, so let's suppose you don't have a sweet tooth. Behind, surrounding you, and on both sides, is a wide variety of foods, oils, snacks, tools, fashion, entertainment, toys, some of these for your pets, and then some. It's for this reason that The General Store is also home to local events, and makes space for art showings in the section opposite gifts, foods, and diversions, and the art is diverse and marvelous. This cozy spot in the corner of the shopping plaza places you near other necessities, such as activities, classes, ice cream (Herrel's), restaurants, and more. Largely, I can imagine The General Store being a monthly or even biweekly as a destination, since events come often and candy runs out. It befits the Massachusetts regional culture, letting you get access to local farmer's cropshares, ice cream even in winter, and clean bathrooms. I think I even saw an authentic barrel™ in here! The General Store is also connected to the Local Art Gallery, where they have displays of many different artists and types of artwork. The Mill District General Store has nearly everything in it. They also have art supplies for sketching, drawing, painting, etc. The first day I visited, I was helped by Anthony. The second time Shannon was super helpful, along with Manny, the sweet pup! The third time, Lewis helped me. Every staff member was genuinely happy to be working here and it made it a very pleasant shopping experience. They have a lot of great inventory, just make sure you have some time to check it out! They also have a pretty good coffee station with mugs.
