Fell into SV during Billionaire summer camp and decided to have a simple sandwich lunch. Went back to the deli and ordered 2 sandwiches from Carmen, who went to work on our orders. While we waited, we noticed the clientele and the hardworking folks staffing the store. Most everyone working at the store was friendly and anxious to be of assistance. The store is jammed with a lot of goods and not a large footprint which can make navigating the store challenging with a cart and a lack of spatial awareness for yourself and others. We feasted on our sandwiches at one of the tables at the front by the coffee stand. It was delicious and fun to watch the people checking out and play old money/new money. read more

This market is fabulous with hot foods for breakfast and lunch in the rear. There is also a deli. Donuts near the front were a pleasant surprise as was the little coffee shop. They even have fresh fish along with almost any groceries one might want. The store isn't huge, but plenty for a long stay, if just visiting. I know this place gets a bad rap for being expensive, but this is an expensive mountain ski town and and you have to expect that. You can drive 10 miles to Albertsons but if you look hard enough, you'll find SOME deals here. They have sale items all around the store and the bagels and donuts are cheaper than Dunkin' Donuts at like $1-$1.29 each. And they're delicious! They have inexpensive coffee at the front of the store, inexpensive deli sandwiches (4.99 for half, 8.99 for whole) made to order at the back of the store. They even have a soup and salad bar. And as you leave, free popcorn for the kids (okay, and adults). Parking is free. read more

Also appeared to have many options for fresh, "ready to go" items as well. It was a bit "close", as the isles seem a bit narrow, but they did not negatively impact my experience. Be warned! Sale prices are often on expired items. Some items are even up to two years expired! Moldy Parmesan you can see on the shelves! I would visit another grocery store before going to this one. The wine selection is about the only thing they have going for them. Prices are astronomical compared to other grocery stores. read more

Beyond me how a high end store can have one of the best butcher departments in country and good selection of dry goods and yet have such miserable, inedible prepared sandwiches and sushi. Literally inedible disgusting Seafood department and meat have friendly folks and a few decent cashiers but rest of staff always look mad or lost. No one is available for help. For my hubby and me a good little supermarket is a destination stop when we're on vacation and that is how we happened to spend some time at Atkinsons while in Ketchum. Marvelous market (IGA) with a winning wine section (note their "90 points+" wall) at fair prices, plethora of produce and some of it local even if some looked a pinch past primetime for freshness (can you imagine how tough it must be to manage fresh produce in Ketchum), scores of specialty food products, delightful deli (tip - have the Tuscan Kale salad), bodacious baked goods selection (much of it baked by them) , fabulous florals, stellar staff and cozy coffee stand right inside the door serving Grace Organics out of Hailey. If you are in Ketchum there is something for everyone to make this a splendid stop. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: Private lot which is a rarity in downtown Ketchum; shared by Atkinsons and other businesses in a little strip mall. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: The only correctly laid out van accessible parking I noted in all of downtown Ketchum is in this lot. Good for them. Level into and throughout the store. Plenty of room in aisles. 3) SIP and NOSH: The coffee bar inside has three small tables with chairs to sit and sip coffee and eat a little something from the market. For delivery, make the trip yourself! We ordered just a few things to be delivered to our hotel when we checked in... we got 5 of the 13 things we ordered. " not in stock" or " do not have" was listed next to the missing items. When we made the trip to the store a couple of hours later.... We found all but 1 item. The Donuts were OK but the only game in town. As expected from a grocery store the donuts were decent but when there are no donut shops in 15 miles you don't really have a choice. The apple and raspberry fritters were not really fritters at all; they were more like donuts in sort of fritter form. They forgot to include the fruit chunks and the cinnamon wonderfulness that goes with a great apple fritter. The custard filled chocolate glaze was pretty good, my wife loved it and she doesn't really eat donuts. I'd have to say that the cinnamon twist was the best donut it was fluffy and sweet. read more

I only brought my children to this place because I was unaware of the owner's racists views. the older woman at the register was extremely rude and told us there was nothing really to pick ( there were rows and rows of ripe blackberries). After coming to write my review and reading others, now I get why she treated us like she didn't want us there. On top of that, they charge every person in your party to 'pick' (strange since there was supposedly nothing to pick) and they charge for baskets. Then, you pay top dollar for the produce after all of that. Save your money for a place where people of any skin color are treated with the same common decency. read more

Everything is price gouged because they take advantage of the fact that the town rejected any chain grocery stores. If at any possible you should sho anywhere else. This grocery store and all the stores in the building have the highest price gouging. The staff that can speak english are incredibly rude or just too old. They will also sell milk 2 day past the expiration date. Any fruits and vegetables have to be used that night or the following day or they begin to go bad. Low quality+high prices=atkinson. The choices also really arent that good. Its like someone is trying to force you to eat healthy and kosher. I promise whoever is in charge of orders is over the age of 50 and probably knocking on 60. Ill add pics next time. If you're just moving here listen to what your friends, family, and coworkers tell you, go to twin or somewhere else and avoid this place if at all possible. Atkinson's is the great equalizer of Ketchum: whether you are staying in a hotel, condo, on your buddy's couch or in one of your many vacation homes, when you get to town you have to stock up. And Atkinson's rules. Organic produce, a wide variety of organic foods, a huge selection of fresh baked goods, sandwiches to go, a wine cellar that rivals PlumpJacks in SF...the list goes on. Yes, it is expensive. More expensive than Whole Foods. You're in the mountains! Everything is more expensive, if for no other reason than the fact that you're...in the mountains! In addition to being an excellent, high-endish grocery store, Atkinson's did us a big assist on Saturday night when we discovered that Sego's liquor license is pending and we needed a BYOB bottle or two. It was just after closing time at 9pm when we arrived at their door in desperate need and they opened the doors and let us in for a quick purchase. Atkinson's helped us win the night. This place is a mirror image of Whole Foods in Mill Valley, CA... something you really don't see here in Idaho. The prices are premium, which is to be expected in a resort town in the middle of the Sawtooths, but the selection is phenomenal. Fresh baked breads, organic produce and HUGE cheese section can have you dropping hundreds if you are not careful. Even the seafood selection was amazing, and I'm still having issues with buying seafood in Idaho. A great quick and cheap lunch is to get a freshly made sandwich from the deli, stacked high with fresh veggies and your choice of meats, breads and sauces. One sandwich is plenty for 2 , or a pre and post snowshoe or hike meal. I like to sit out in the townsquare and people watch before hitting the mountain. read more

This market is fantastic. First off, it's got a huge fire place by the check-out area. Sweet! They've got tons of crazy stuff (wine in a can with a straw... almost as crazy as seeing Mello Yello! (We're from California)). For example, I must have come across 4 or 5 different areas featuring hummus, and each one sounded more delicious than the last. Lots of local and organic stuff. Way better than any Albertson's could have provided (although notably more expensive). They've also got a solid little coffee shop in the front corner (next to the previously mentioned fire place). Nice market. Prices are high but where else can you shop! What i love about this market is they make their own beef jerky. Its in the back, on top of the meat counter in a little basket. Upon first glance Atkinson's Market in Ketchum looks great. It's small so the selection is somewhat limited. I buy lots of prepared foods...which turn out to be extremely expensive. Also I've learned to look at the dates and freshness of the pre-packaged prepared foods because I've had a couple bad experiences. The salad bar is pretty good if you can avoid all the senior citizens trying to figure out how to text. Atkinson's is not bad but I find myself driving to to Hailey to shop at Albertson's or Natural Grocer because the selection and pricing is much more favorable. I also find it funny that they don't accept "chip" credit cards yet. read more

We were looking for a small birthday cake for my son's birthday as we had been traveling the whole day and didn't feel like eating at a restaurant. I'm not giving it five stars because of the prices. Basically, this is the only grocery store around unless you drive to Hailey, and there's an Albertson's in Hailey. However, despite the pricey nature of this local place, they did have some unique items like fresh deli sandwiches we could grab and go with, premade breakfast sandwiches that didn't come in a box, and a wide variety of various breads and cheeses. All in all, this is a good place to shop if you're in a hurry and not looking for the average meal. read more

Good selection of gourmet food and specialty products that you'd expect to find at a high end market. However I've never met such awful check-out staff in my life. On a few separate occasions I was taken aback by the unprofessional attitude- from not even acknowledging my presence as I check out - all the while chatting in Spanish with the bagger-- to rudely demanding that I return the grocery basket in its proper receptacle after I emptied it... I asked 2 of the staff putting food out on the aisles were some of the items where, they didn't know very much and when I asked if they could show me they said no? I used to be a huge fan of Atkinson's Supermarket in Ketchum, but my last two visits have left me to reconsider and find a new place to shop. The Meat Dept is selling rancid meat. It has happened to me twice in one week. Not on a cheap cut of meat either. I had ordered a Prime Rib Roast ($90) for a special dinner for my hubby! I can understand it if it happened only once, which sometimes can happen, but the same cut of meat 2 days later, when the meat man says to come back and we will have some fresh cuts on Friday! And again, same meat cut is rancid. I now have lost faith in Atkinson's and will find a new place to shop! read more

From my Wife: We love Atkinsons actually - even knowing there are few options in Ketchum. We spend a month in SV every July for almost 15 years. Skiing over spring break most years as well. But they need some 'customer service' training for employees. I was loading my groceries in my car after checking out and a man approached and said "you were in line ahead of me and you left a bag of your groceries". Thanking him, I returned to the checker and she said "yes you did - it's right over here". But it wasn't. So the checker said to another employee "you took a bag that was left and it's not here". Their response was "no I didn't" and she walked off. Then another employee came up - a manager (?) - and asked what the problem was? Then he began to grill me on the facts and said I was mistaken and walked off. The checker - who originally confirmed that I had left a bag - sheepishly just tuned around and I was left standing with everyone wondering who this crazy woman was creating all this commotion and backing up the line at the register. Turns out I had all my bags after all , so maybe someone else had left a bag and retrieved it. In any event - very rude service. yes it's a little more expensive than your average grocer but they have a great selection of gourmet foods and prepared meals. if you take a moment to look at prices, you can actually find some of the local foods are very reasonably priced and comparable if not cheaper than national brands. i wouldn't be able to do all my grocery runs here as a 30 year old but it is a great store if i have a few things to pick up. the coffee shop is also great. lots of parking. read more

I come here a lot and usually have good experiences. However, I decided to cook Salmon for the first time and bought two filets from the meat department - only to find parasites in both pieces. I googled what they were and called Atkinsons right away to inform them about their contaminated fish. The man at the meat department didn't seem alarmed and advised to return it, but I wasn't driving all the way back there to do so. I've never purchased anything from the meat counter because it doesn't look good, clean or fresh, but due to time constraints, I had no choice. I read that parasites are quite common in Salmon, but when sold at grocery stores or sushi restaurants, it's very rare to find them due to thorough examination or freezing. I'll continue the rest of my shopping here, but I'll go elsewhere for fish, meats, etc. read more

I can only speak for the baked goods, but we were standing in a long line to get something delicious and baked at the bakery across the street when I had the idea of popping over to this market to see what they had.
