He said he earns "points" for each donation, and gets paid based on the amount of donations received. I didn't feel he was lying to me... but curious why he didn't offer me magazines if that is part of the sales pitch? He also gave me his personal Venmo if I wanted to help him. Hmm...

They can be exchanged for goods and services, and are receivable by all national and member banks and Federal Reserve banks." By LAW, no business on US soil can lawfully refuse Federal Reserve Notes and coins. Midtown Magazines is violating US and Georgia laws.
