After experiencing pinnacle for myself I can see the reason for all of the successful client transformations. Pinnacle fitness is a one stop shop for everything fitness related. They offer personalized training, group fitness classes, and stretch therapy. The trainers at pinnacle are highly educated in the field of exercise science and are able to create a customized training program that is specific to the individual clients needs. This is something that I have not seen anywhere else. Not only do they take a scientific approach to training but they also bring a friendly, motivating and upbeat energy to ensure client motivation

I have been working out with owner David Nash in private sessions since the first of the year. I…read morereally like David a lot - he is a great guy and a very professional & experienced personal trainer. I have learned a lot from him already and know that every Tues and Fri, I am going to have a terrific 45 minute workout (or a little less when I am late!). By terrific, I mean hard as heck - David is very encouraging and also very precise about form and the amount of weight. He pushes when appropriate, which seems like 90% of the time!, and backs off the weight when he sees that I'm not keeping good form. I told David that I wanted to focus on arms, back & shoulders (I had a very good base but had started losing my tone/cut due to partial neglect for a few months). He designs my training session around that - with some core thrown in to make sure I'm maintaining that with my other workouts during the week. Every session has been different and challenging so far. I do get sore after our workouts but not in a painful, can't-raise-my-arms-to-wash-my-hair way. His gym is your basic physical fitness gym with a solid variety of weights and other fitness equipment. He has very very popular bootcamp classes -- once I started working out with him I realized a lot of Avondale Estaters frequent his gym and take great pride in earning their "levels", e.g., Warrior, Elite etc. I earned my warrior, which is level one and actually sort of thrilled me. I want to wear my Tshirt out & about so people know, hey, I made it too. :) David also offers small group training - women sculpting groups and other strength training classes along with bootcamp. I think the best things I can share about David are that he has extensive experience and knowledge of exercise and anatomy, he is encouraging, communicates very clearly and specifically to ensure proper form - and he's just a really good, nice guy.

I wanted to like Crossfit East Decatur. I have been Crossfitting for a few years now and when I…read moremoved into Decatur, I knew that I wanted to find a CF that was close to home. I can walk to Crossfit East Decatur, so it fits the bill. The other thing that attracted me to this particular gym was the fact that they had movement in their website name. Walking into the business was welcoming enough. There was a class going and all looked pretty good. Someone noted my presence and came to talk to me. We talked, agreed on a time for me to come in and I headed out until then. I came back for my workout and the guy running the class had me fill out the waiver and then I started warming up. I looked around and I did note that the place is well equipped and has a good amount of space. People were friendly with a decent male female ratio. It wasn't too 'bro' either. We warmed up a little and then got right into the lead up to the WOD. I got some coaching on my form, which was good. The WOD itself was intense and everyone seemed to encourage each other. After the WOD, people talked the usual CF banter and included me somewhat. My gripes? No cool down, no skills work or strength work. Just a warmup and the WOD. I looked at the schedule and there weren't any variations advertised on the schedule either. I like the EMOM sections and the gymnastic work that really taxes my flexibility and my sense of balance. There just isn't enough cross in this Crossfit.

Best Crossfit box in the city, hands down…read more The focus? First, form, getting it right so you're working what you're supposed to be working. Second? Finding your inner bad ass. You need look know further than the owner - Shana Alverson - for your model. The results? Amazing. The people? Even more amazing; none of the snobbery you sometimes see with other CFers. If you're thinking about it, do it.

I had never thought about joining a YMCA until I worked 300 meters away. This location is dear to…read moreme because of the ATC Decatur Dekalb 4 Miler that used to start/end here for the longest time. Even though I still have my LA Fitness Membership, I joined here about a year ago due to proximity to work and the ease of getting a workout in before or after work. I'm now glad I did that because I use their nationwide membership for working out of town. Unique features: - Second floor has all their treadmills facing towards the interestingly designed windows - New cardio equipment throughout the top floor - Peloton bikes Things you might not like: - Second floor free weight area can feel cramped, even when it's not busy - Parking lot can be a bit hectic during busy times but they have ample parking This location offers up older adult programming and Parkinson's classes. They also have a cool kids area for parents that need to get a workout in and have their child in tow. Costs will be more than your average gym but they have a wide variety of options available.

This is one of many issues that I have experienced in the last few years. Paying over $80 a month Is no longer an option with the way that this facility is operating. When you asked to speak to someone in charge as this morning, the response is, there's no one here. Totally unacceptable I will be moving my membership elsewhere
