There is no voice mail. Service phone often rings for 20 rings (gave up after then) and never is answered. The people in the store know about these problems, but the corporate office does nothing to fix it. The corporate call center went so far as to tell me they couldn't control the hours on Google. What? Again, less than stellar workers. Also, personnel is not properly trained. ie: I was told I could get a flute repair done in a week, then I found out it was a month...after I flew to the USA with my flute from another country. So, I bought a new flute. I asked the service department to check it over completely as I did not live in the USA and wanted to make sure there were no issues. Note this was a rather expensive silver flute. They gave it to me saying it was perfect. Well, it wasn't! The interior was filthy...used. The f# key leaks. I am flying back to the USA. It took me 12 phone calls including 2 useless calls to the call center before I could speak to someone. I was promised a call back from the call center in 40 minutes. Never called. Bottom line is, good selection, knowledgeable sales people, lousy service and not the brightest in the call center. I think some of the staff is good at some of the stores, but really, they need training.

Store manager Jon Bon insisted on restringing the floor model for him. He and Billy Darling have been on the staff for decades. Added a hard case and off we went. I can't say enough positive things about our experience. Jack is a very straight shooter, no bs, honest and helpful. I got the very real sense that he was more interested in helping us purchase the piano that would work best for us, than in simply selling a piano. His pianos were all in amazing condition and I fell for one of the black Yamaha's. The Black Friday free delivery and first tuning special, in addition to the 10 year warranty really helped seal the deal. The piano was delivered within a handful of days and the movers were professional and courteous. Jack has been extremely helpful and patient with my recent questions regarding temperature, humidity and general care for the piano. Grateful to have purchased from him, and I highly recommend!!!

Per Tomas: my neck order was repeatedly bumped in favor of his preferred customers. After 5 months of patiently waiting, enduring a litany of excuses, including personal hardship excuses, I gave up on him making good on his commitment. I had also provided materials for the neck build, and he agreed to at least compensate me for the materials (which he kept) - he short changed me by $10 on the agreed upon amount. Tomas also performed a nut replacement: his work was sub par, and I had to pay another luthier to replace the nut Tomas had installed. Tomas reshaped a guitar neck, and the finish he used never cured properly. Also, the setup up was terrible. To be fair, there were a couple other services he provided where his execution was acceptable. My dealings with him were hit or miss, mostly miss. Generally speaking his communication was poor, often unprofessional. I had gone to Tomas Holgado because Maple Street had put a hold on its repair business till further notice. Maple Street does great work. Since the debacle with Tomas Holgado, I've brought work to Southeast Guitar Repair in Buford - they do excellent work and are very professional and offer quick turnaround - note, they're the shop that reworked some of the repairs Holgado botched.

I had some crazy ideas for an active/passive system initially. Tomas went over every detail - how I wanted the control layout, switching, jack location/etc. This sounds like a no-brainer, but I've dealt with plenty of shops that "do it how they do it" and make assumptions without consulting the customer. He eventually advised me that the build would be more complex than I had thought, and presented a couple additional options. I opted to go all-passive, and he had the bass done within 2 business days. As far as the setup goes, it has never played better with action this low, period. First time customer, saw some solid reviews and shout-outs which convinced me to make an appointment. I usually enjoy seeking out new techs/luthiers as much as I enjoy seeking out new barbers, but I definitely made the right choice. Holgado is my new go-to and I can't recommend him highly enough.
