We stopped in for a few minutes after hitting Half Price Books (it's three minutes away and I've always wanted to check a HPB for Star Wars books, I digress) and my fiancé allowed me 15 minutes to browse. (A new record!) The nice man working the store was very helpful and was able to talk to me about their current inventory. They didn't have any Gibson guitars or pointy metal guitars, but their Fender and acoustic selection are solid. When I asked about specific products, he offered to call the store owner to haggle (awesome)! I didn't buy anything, we had to head back to downtown Atlanta for Coheed & Cambria, but I would certainly stop back in and/or haggle with them on Reverb. TLDR; looking for a Fender or an acoustic? ** This review is just on the WeeJam Music Class for Kids ** We just attended our first Wee Jam class and it was so much fun! It is for kids ages 0-5, which at first I was nervous about, but it was fine. Parent involvement is needed, so if you think you are going to go and just watch, you are wrong. The class is on Saturdays before the store opens, and you need to per-register. It is an 8 week class that is about $130 for one kid and $200 for 2. The teacher gets everyone to sing songs, play instruments, and dance. My kids loved the drums and the songs. They made us all have a dance party and my little guy was rocking out to " We will Rock You" by Queen. It is nice that it is not all kiddy songs. They also were showing the kids how to keep a rhythm with drum sticks. I highly recommend this class to anyone with little rock stars! read more

Part I: I had been playing for about 5 months and was shopping for my first acoustic. I was really nervous as I went from store to store, strumming away at my beginner songs, poorly at that. Even when the sales people left me alone I just had a bad "vide" about those stores for lack of a better term. My last stop that weekend was Firehouse. I walked in and the store was empty except for one employee (Dave) who was doing a setup on an electric next to the sales counter. He looked up when I walked in and said "Welcome! Let me know if you need anything. If there's anything on the walls that you can't reach I'll get the ladder. Oh, here's a pick," and proceeds to reach into his pocket and place pick on the counter. Then he was back to working on the guitar. I felt instantly at ease and about half as nervous. I strummed away for about an hour and a lot of guitars and really, really liked a used Martin DC-1E, but couldn't afford it. Anyway, great experience and I knew I'd be going back -- good vibe. Part II: A couple of months later I resumed shopping for an acoustic, spending several weekends visiting guitar stores in the greater Atlanta area. Same story for the most part: feeling nervous, feeling a bad vibe at the store. Ended up back at Firehouse -- good vibe, nice Dave, a few more patrons this time who also seemed calmed (hypnotized?) by the place. I spent a couple of uninterrupted hours trying just about everything, including the used Martin I liked before. Finally I work up the courage to ask Dave if its price was flexible. "What were you thinking?" he asked. I picked a number that is about 25% off the listed used price, figuring we could work from there. But no need -- BOOM -- done and done! What? He said they had had that guitar for 6 months with many lookers, but no buyers. The owner had a minimum amount he was willing to accept and I had nailed it. Sure, it could be a line, but I believe it, and the price was definitely an excellent deal based on my research. Warm and fuzzies all around! Overall I'm happy to go back to Firehouse and pay a few bucks more for strings and accessories then I otherwise would if I ordered them online because they did good by me and I like the people. read more

Nice guys to do business with. For a small local shop they have some very cool guitars. Their pedal selection could be better, but on the whole they are a good place to stop at if you're in the neighborhood. I've bought numerous things there and have always been satisfied. A new acquaintance who is a Grammy-winning artist (everyone would know who I'm talking about) says this is the only place he feels comfortable buying guitar stuff at in town. read more

Yesterday, I contacted Firehouse Guitars and Music and spoke with Pete. I identified my needs of a microphone for recording voice and after he assured me that the Store carried the particular device, I advised him that I would stop by, within the hour. Upon my arrival, Pete was busied and so I browsed the Shop. It had been a while since my last visit to a Music Store, and I enjoyed the review of instruments and other products. Pete, now, available, approached me, asking, "You here about the mic?" "Yes," I replied, and then we began the business transaction. After informing him that I used a Macintosh to create my videos, I next brought the Mac inside for Pete's closer inspection. Later, Pete retrieved a Shure PGA 27 from the rear of the Store and then removed it from its box. Although it was not the mic that I originally wanted, Shure MV 51, during our telephone chat, I agreed to consider the 27. Pete carefully and clearly advised me of the mic's technologies and assured me of its qualities. Before leaving home, naturally, I had researched the gem. I liked the satin, black, coloring and the various controls for specific uses of the mic. Of course, the greatest qualities were, that it is a Shure Unidirectional large Diaphragmed Condenser Cardioid; useable both on Stage and in Studio; and, durable. The SA27, my term, requires Phantom Power ("PP") and Pete had none at the Store's location; he called the other Store. The PP was on site and he requested that it be sent to FGM's location, and bearing my name and phone number. The part would arrive in one or two days, no issue. The transaction made, signed, sealed. This was the first time for me to do business with Firehouse Guitars and Music and I enjoyed every minute. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly; and Pete is, wonderfully, a great person and Salesman. A Nice Man. Upon information that the SA27 has arrived, I would then return to the Store. I am looking forward to the experience. It is wonderful knowing that FGM is nearby.
