While…read morethere is currently some construction going on, it still manages to feel small, efficient, and easy to navigate compared to many larger airports. Getting in and out is straightforward, parking is convenient, and the shuttle service to the terminal is quick and painless. We never feel like we need to arrive ridiculously early just to survive the experience. Inside the terminal there are enough food and drink options to grab a snack, relax for a bit, or enjoy the obligatory pre-flight cocktail before boarding. Seating areas are comfortable and the overall atmosphere feels much less chaotic than many major hubs. TSA has consistently been friendly during our trips, and security lines move surprisingly fast, which definitely helps take some of the stress out of traveling. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is mainly because the airport is showing its age in certain areas and the ongoing construction can make parts of the experience feel a little less polished right now. That said, the convenience factor is hard to beat. For travelers in the Omaha area, this is one of those airports that simply gets the job done without turning travel day into a headache. We fly through here often and will gladly continue to do so.

One was to see family, and the other was for a vacation as I took in some March Madness basketball games at the United Center. I flew American Airlines for all three of these flights. I flew into and out of Terminal for all of these flights and had a positive experience each time. After all, the slogan of the Chicago O'Hare International Airport is "What We're Made Of." Unlike friends who absolutely hate flying, I enjoy the travel experience, especially when using some helpful tools like CLEAR, Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check, airport lounge membership, and airline status, most of which I was able to enjoy during my Chicago O'Hare visits. When checking in (during my rare travels where I start a journey in Philadelphia), I was able to skip the check-in area if I didn't need to check bags (as I checked in online) on one of my trips, and then this most recent time, I checked in at the priority area for assistance and checking bags. I then went and used Global Entry and CLEAR to skip most of the line at Security while keeping my shoes on (thanks to an American Express Platinum card which comes with credits for both). If I start off at a certain terminal (like Terminal 3, I believe), they won't have CLEAR but should have Pre-Check and even TSA Touches. The airline lounges in Chicago O'Hare are plentiful as there are three Admirals Clubs including a Flagship Lounge and a USO Lounge. The other lounges are in other terminals. I also found it easy to navigate the trams between terminals as I took Uber to my hotel, which I had to take from terminal 2, which was easy to navigate to. I also saw easy signage to get to the car rental area from leaving baggage claim. They have 211 restaurants including vending machines and 142 stores including vending machines. There are also 15 services including Body Chargers, Jabbrrbox (Privacy Pods), Terminal Getaway Spas, The Barber Shop at Hilton Chicago O'Hare, and Yoga Room. Security check usually takes 20-30 mins depending on how long it is. I was a little worried that there would be delays due to the TSA workers not being paid. That was before President Trump made an announcement that the TSA workers will be paid. After you get through security check, there are various shops and restaurants. To be honest, none of the restaurants have any good food. They're all mediocre, so it's a matter of which mediocre food you want. Finding a place to eat can be even more troublesome. They do have outlets for charging your electronics. Lately, there always seems to be delays with flights.

If a major airline starts service here, this airport can be very successful. This could relieve traffic at O'Hare and Midway. Many of those in northwest Indiana could benefit as well. The perpetual road construction projects and traffic on I-90 and I-94 out to O'Hare has cause many travelers to miss their flights. It's close proximity to the South Shore Railroad makes access to this airport very easy to get to. Once their master plan is complete, I would hope service from the major carriers start up. Boeing parks their corporate jets here at GYY.

Rideshares can drop you off at Terminal 5, but they are not allowed to pick you up there. Therefore, we had to take the Airport Transit System (ATS) train from Terminal 5 to Terminal 2 to call an Uber. This was a bit confusing and inconvenient after landing, but the signage was clear enough to follow. At O'Hare, you can only call a standard rideshare from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Like other major airports, there are multiple pickup zones at Terminal 2. We used Zone 2E and had no problems, though it did take about 15-20 minutes to get matched with a driver and get into their car. Terminal 2 looks like the oldest terminal at O'Hare. It's actually slated to be demolished in 2029 to make way for the new O'Hare Global Terminal (OGT), which is expected to be completed by 2033. It's functional for now, but feels a bit like a time capsule.

Clow International Airport was one of the biggest 'X'-factors I considered when moving to the area back in 2020, but not for the reasons you might think. I love planes, and my hope was that one day I'd have kids who would also be fascinated by aviation. Wouldn't you know it, our 4yo thinks planes are the coolest and I'm sure our 1yo someday will, too. On Google Maps, this place is listed as Chicago Bolingbrook International Airport, which is both stupid and wrong. Guess I have to summon my verified Google Reviewer ninja skills and fix that discrepancy. Oliver Clow (the airport's founder) would be mortified to see his own name dropped from this beloved airport! #justice4clow The noise pollution isn't bad at all, especially when compared to the deafening jumbo jets flying over towns like Franklin Park and Des Plaines on their approach to O'Hare Int'l. The air traffic coming through Clow is mostly private pilots, students, and light commuter aircraft (no 747's). Their on-site restaurant - Charlie's - is named after Chuck Yeager and serves the most reasonably-priced breakfast around. When the weather's nice, scores of planes takeoff and land on a given day, so if you're lucky enough to get a window seat, you'll be treated to an airshow with your meal. Clow hosts the annual Cavalcade of Planes, an event that attracts a huge crowd and features the opportunity to go up in a variety of different aircraft for an upcharge. We've gone every year and while we usually pay for admission, there's space north by the Meijer parking lot where you can watch in a lawnchair (and BYOB) for no charge. * TL;DR * This general aviation facility in the western suburbs gets an A+ from me and the kids. You can learn about planes from history in the free aviation museum, take flying lessons, or enjoy a cheap meal at Charlie's. I've seen everything from small Cessnas and WW2 fighter planes to helicopters, with a few gliders and ultralights mixed in here. The runway is only a couple blocks from our house, which is awesome. Clow is like a friendly neighbor everyone wishes they had. My family and I adore everything about this airstrip. Ten stars!

A few nice FBO's. 3 runways, the longest is 5,001. Tower is open from 6am-10pm weekdays and opens at 7am on the weekends.
