It was pretty easy to navigate our way out of Terminal 3 that night and locate the rideshare pickup spot. Monday night, we were flying out of Terminal 1. Security was quite a lengthy process but they kept it moving. It was the first time I've had to walk past drug-sniffing dogs as part of the security process, so that was an experience. Security itself was easy and TSA was friendly. We had a last-minute gate change due to limited gate options that required a quick stride through half of the terminal (B concourse), but we made it. I do wish they'd reconfigure their seating though, as with the swivel chairs, there were not enough seats for everybody waiting to board.

When it comes to busy this is definitely the busiest of all of O'Hare. There are tons of options for food and drink. There are also a ton of places to buy yourself a little something. Surprisingly, Terminal 1 opened in 1987, years after Terminal 2. Flagship terminal for United Airlines. Dubbing it as the 'Terminal for Tomorrow.' Forming a Y with glass curtain walls and exposed steel structures. Briskly walking through here, you really end up not really not noticing anything. You forget that you are near things. In your haste to make it to your gate, you definitely bypass a lot around you.

A few start up airlines have operated out of GYY but unfortunately these airlines have failed in these difficult economic times. If a major airline starts service here, this airport can be very successful. This could relieve traffic at O'Hare and Midway. Many of those in northwest Indiana could benefit as well. The perpetual road construction projects and traffic on I-90 and I-94 out to O'Hare has cause many travelers to miss their flights. It's close proximity to the South Shore Railroad makes access to this airport very easy to get to. Once their master plan is complete, I would hope service from the major carriers start up. Boeing parks their corporate jets here at GYY.

Massive place…read more.. It's been awhile since my last stopover here and this time I actually visited the city of Chicago and what a ride...I believe it's known to be one of the busiest in the nation is and actually isn't for me, Could it because I had an early morning flight...perhaps but I just think it's the efficiency of it all as there is a lot going on behind what we know but I do love how they keep it so clear with signage of restroom, gates and whatever is just nearby. I do remember more food options here as now it seems it's far less got to my gate fast and easy especially since I found a scale to weigh your luggage helped immensity as I felt one was vey close to its' limit dislike to test it at the check-in counter. Terminal 2 is to be completed demolished and replaced. Until then, we have this. Terminal 2 serves mostly domestic flights. Delta, Alaska and United fly out of here. Concourses E and F hold the gates. You can catch the CTA Blue Line here on the lower level. Connects to Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 via indoor pedestrian walkways. No need to go through security if you have a connecting flight. Ample dining and shopping choices to kill the time between flights. Or a short walk to your connecting gate. Or in my case, literally the gate over on one of my recent connecting flight. This is busy, but I can only imagine what this place will be like when they do move forward with their plans.

'A' IS FOR AIRSTRIP…read more This adorable airport does an admirable job of attracting young aviators. Clow International Airport was one of the biggest 'X'-factors I considered when moving to the area back in 2020, but not for the reasons you might think. I love planes, and my hope was that one day I'd have kids who would also be fascinated by aviation. Wouldn't you know it, our 4yo thinks planes are the coolest and I'm sure our 1yo someday will, too. On Google Maps, this place is listed as Chicago Bolingbrook International Airport, which is both stupid and wrong. Guess I have to summon my verified Google Reviewer ninja skills and fix that discrepancy. Oliver Clow (the airport's founder) would be mortified to see his own name dropped from this beloved airport! #justice4clow The noise pollution isn't bad at all, especially when compared to the deafening jumbo jets flying over towns like Franklin Park and Des Plaines on their approach to O'Hare Int'l. The air traffic coming through Clow is mostly private pilots, students, and light commuter aircraft (no 747's). Their on-site restaurant - Charlie's - is named after Chuck Yeager and serves the most reasonably-priced breakfast around. When the weather's nice, scores of planes takeoff and land on a given day, so if you're lucky enough to get a window seat, you'll be treated to an airshow with your meal. Clow hosts the annual Cavalcade of Planes, an event that attracts a huge crowd and features the opportunity to go up in a variety of different aircraft for an upcharge. We've gone every year and while we usually pay for admission, there's space north by the Meijer parking lot where you can watch in a lawnchair (and BYOB) for no charge. * TL;DR * This general aviation facility in the western suburbs gets an A+ from me and the kids. You can learn about planes from history in the free aviation museum, take flying lessons, or enjoy a cheap meal at Charlie's. I've seen everything from small Cessnas and WW2 fighter planes to helicopters, with a few gliders and ultralights mixed in here. The runway is only a couple blocks from our house, which is awesome. Clow is like a friendly neighbor everyone wishes they had. My family and I adore everything about this airstrip. Ten stars!

A few nice FBO's. 3 runways, the longest is 5,001. Tower is open from 6am-10pm weekdays and opens at 7am on the weekends.
