I would strongly encourage anyone considering Atlantic Building Products to proceed with caution. After selecting my countertop, both Atlantic and their fabricator, KB Surfaces, represented that it could be installed with only one seam. Months later, after the kitchen had already been demolished and the countertop had been measured, Atlantic reversed its position and said the agreed upon configuration could no longer be done. At that point, I was offered what Atlantic representedjas an 'essentially identical' replacement countertop-but at approximately 40% higher cost. I wasn't allowed to inspect the actual slab before committing, only a small sample and photo, and I was told I would face a 30% restocking fee if I rejected it after ordering. With the kitchen already torn apart, I had no practical choice but to move forward. Atlantic then promised the replacement would arrive in about two weeks. Instead, it was delayed by roughly another month due to what I was told was a "shipping issue", leaving my family without a usable kitchen even longer. When the countertop finally arrived, it was materially different from what I had originally selected and what I had been told I was purchasing. The appearance was nothing like the sample I relied on when agreeing to spend thousands of dollars more. read more

We had a complete kitchen redo, worked closely with Wendell who helped us see our vision come true. We used the subs he recommended for electrical, plumbing, dry wall, flooring,and master carpenter all were fantastic , neat, informative, and on time. Communication with each sub was great and pricing reasonable for work done! Terrible. Spent over $50k on our kitchen remodel. Atlantic also installed our floors. 2 months later floors were chipping/peeling/falling apart. Husband called /texted numerous times and received the run around from the owner for a year. Finally a "rep" from the subcontractor came out and confirmed floor needed to be replaced. Never heard from any one ever again. Atlantic will not return phone calls or texts even though they have their "read receipts" turned on. Awful company and wouldn't refer my worst enemy. read more

Upon buying a new home, I began a major remodeling project, including three bathrooms and a kitchen. My general contractor used Atlantic to purchase new kitchen cabinets, quartz countertops, and floor and wall tiles for the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as for the kitchen backsplash. Wendall Turpin (who also wrote a five-star review for his own company below) came out to take the measurements for the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as for shower glass for all three bathrooms. He referred us to F.W. Webb to purchase that, along with all of the fixtures and hardware for this major project. Altogether, we spent some $70,000 on product at the two stores. After his initial measurements, my contractor and I went to Atlantic to design the plans on the computer there with their in-house kitchen designer. They didn't mesh with the computer software program, and so she asked us to double check Wendall's measurements. Sure enough, they were incorrect. Wendall came back to re-do his measurements so we could complete the kitchen design. On the day the first truck of shipments arrived to my property, I was at the house with my contractor to receive tile. We were receiving tile for the kitchen and bathroom floors, the bathroom walls, and the backsplash in the kitchen. As the guys were unloading it, it was very clear that there was entirely too much tile. The delivery guys stated that it was the biggest tile delivery they ever made. We immediately contacted Atlantic and told them there was too much being delivered. Wendall told us to take delivery of it all, and we would be able to return what was not used. I eyeballed the delivery, and told my contractor we had at least 35 too many boxes of wall tile. This proved to be exactly correct. In fact, we used 10 of the extra boxes for a different project, still leaving 25 extra boxes! Upon the completion of the project, the extra tile was returned to Atlantic, but Wendall refused to refund the cost. He told us the best he could do was take it on consignment for us, and if it sells within 30 days, he will refund the cost; if not, we would need to come pick it back up. This is totally unprofessional and unacceptable. He is charging his customers for his mistakes and ineptitude. Because he cannot measure accurately, the burden and cost should fall on the customer...?! Moreover, when the shower glass for the master bathroom arrived, it was a 60" shower door for an opening that is only 48 inches. Wendall submitted this measurement to F.W. Webb, and signed off on it. The door was 12 inches too wide! This mistake was also brought to the immediate attention of Wendall, who took zero ownership for his inability to measure a standard shower door. It was returned to F.W. Webb. They came and picked up the shower glass; however, they have refused to refund the glass because the top of the cardboard box was missing. The door was only out of the box for literally one minute. It was immediately obvious that it was the wrong size, and it was packed up for immediate return. We ordered custom glass from another vendor, and it was subsequently installed. Still, because part of the cardboard was missing, we were told that the glass cannot be returned or refunded. Therefore, Wendall Turpin's inability to use correctly a tape measure has cost us $3,300! How is that acting in good faith? One would think that Wendall and Atlantic would want to keep a customer who has just spent $70,000 between his business and the one with which he works to sell people new kitchens and bathrooms satisfied and eager to share their experiences with their friends, family, neighbors and coworkers. On the contrary, I am warning them! Rather, he is an arrogant man who has no regard for his clients whatsoever. He refuses to take responsibility for his own errors. He is dishonest, going back on his word to take back product that was never needed. Wendall and Atlantic should be ashamed and embarrassed for their sophomoric errors and poor business ethics! read more

I had some trouble with Atlantic Building Products. They incorrectly installed some hardware on a very expensive cabinet I purchased from them. When I called them to notify them of the issues I was having as a result, I was met with rude customer service and was told I would be required to pay them more for them to fix the issue. The owner just plain lied to us over and over again and left us hanging on a window replacement job. I wonder if they are in financial trouble. They are the local Semco dealer and that is why we were trying to work with them. Check out the other reviews - most of them are not good. False advertising! They advertise $29.99 for a square foot of granite. We needed just 5 square feet for a small counter. We were so excited to order the granite, but when they gave us the final price, it was 4 times that. We ordered a pencil edge which she stated was free, and a piece of remnant. For what we wanted, the price should have been $150. She then told us it would actually cost $600. S&H and a markup for them. Really??? Very disappointing. read more

My experience with this company was been awful and painful. They open up a satellite office in North Haven. The staff is clueless they don't know product information, can't write you a quote. Most of the time the staff can't use the computer printer or fax. The owner doesn't seem to care enough to follow up with new customers, or ask how their experience has been after one mess up after another. He just push through to the next job. I placed and order for cabinets in late June gave them a deposit check had to wait weeks for them to cash it, had to follow up to make sure cabinets were ordered. As I got no confirmation, no follow up. The cabinet were delivered on Aug 8th and not all of my cabinets were delivered did the company care to notify me, No I had to call to inquire were was my pantry closet an$800 cabinet. They said they are trying to track it down had to wait three weeks. Once we attempted to install cabinet we found out two of the cabinets were damaged had to call them again to replace took three -four weeks to get replacements did the owner care to apologize no. This delay our kitchen from getting the granite countertops ordered. When the replacement arrived they were once again damaged. I was feed up, the owner only credit me $200. then he offered to provide us decorate panels to cover the damage had to wait three weeks for they to be deliver to again come damaged. On top of all of that the pantry closet draws were the wrong sized had to request replacement draws. They company kept have to reorder replacement pieces and my kitchen was in a constant state of delay because of this company. Remodeling a kitchen should not take 3 months when on average cabinets that 4 weeks to be orders. So glad I didn't pay for them to install it's would have cost 20,000 and I paid 10,000 and the owner was like you got a great deal, not sure I agree as most of my kitchen was delayed due to damage cabinets. If you think the owner ever came to the home to view the cabinets you would be wrong he didn't care. He wants to start business in North Haven I would caution anyone as you may be delayed months. The owner deals with the cabinet makers and the delivery people and it's his company's name. If he doesn't care enough then it's his own fault. He doesn't even return your call when you request to talk to him. He doesn't want to be bother he just wants your money. North Haven resident I strongly caution you to look elsewhere. This company should stay in East Lyme because they don't have the staff to handle proper customer service in North Haven. I unfortunately didn't feel I got a deal from this company. read more
