It's sort of a Swiss Army Knife thing going on with the building housing a common lobby area with wireless internet, the Aquatic & Fitness Center, Arts Center, Museum, Library, Senior Center and a Café. Even without a book sale going on this library has a nice size to it and really offers a broad scope of material. Of course with not being a resident it's a no-go on borrowing but everything is still very bright, open and airy. Back to the book sale. It's a complete zoo where it seems like the whole town shows and up I can see why because they have tons of books, DVD's and yes even VHS's for sale at very reasonable prices starting at a quarter for a book. I know that most people on vacation wouldn't dream of hanging out in a library but if you get a questionable weather day this one is top notch and is great place to spend some time.

There is an ample computer station for children, with 7 computers, available, some of which are touch screen. They have two story times on Friday, one for 2-3 year olds from 10:00-10:30AM and one for 4-6 year olds from 11:00-11:30AM. It's nice that they have the option and separate time for older kids, as that is not common in libraries and most gear their storytimes toward younger toddlers and babies. In addition, they have book clubs for adults and older children, as well as a craft time available for children in the summers on Mondays, (registration required). In the kids area they have toys set up for children, which is a decent but not great selection. Parking is free, but if you do choose to go at a story time plan early to circle for parking, as it can take 10 minutes or so to find a spot. The staff wasn't overly friendly, at least not in our experience. The computer area was a little congested, and they may want to suggest a maximum time per child on each computer. My only other suggestion would be that they take care of the restrooms, as several were filthy.

Who ever heard of paying to park at the library. 2) They have no plugs for laptops--I went there needing to work, and could not believe there were NO PLUGS--they actually have a note that says 'No Plugs." So I plunk down $1.50 in the meter, go inside, and have to leave because my laptop isn't charged. Really, charging for parking? No plug-ins? Unreal.

There's a small parking lot which I was able to find a spot but is also about half a dozen spots. The light house is on a big property and there's some stuff to see before you go to the main building. A small building with some information inside. The building has a small store and activity area and restrooms as well. We were greet right away and you only pay if you want to go up to the top of the lighthouse. I ended up doing that and it was a hike. There are stations along the way or rest stops if you need them. There's a window at every stop and each stop faces a different direction. There's also pamphlets at each window with information and history. Once you reach the top it's a nice view and there are bars so you can walk around the top of the lighthouse. There was also a gentleman up there that gave you a "made it to the top" card and he was very knowledgeable if you had any questions. Awesome place to visit.

Rudest customer service ever! We were yelled at for asking to borrow the priority tape for our…read morepriority package. We travel a lot and every post office in all the different states we have been to have allowed us to do so. Except this one. We were yelled at saying the policy changed three years ago and how all the other post offices are wrong. The tirent, Bernadette, then bathed how she is the shop steward and how she always has to correct people on this. I don't give a rat's ass who you are, don't yell at me. A simple sorry we no longer give out would have sufficed. We also over heard her complain to a customer that she can not lift heavy things because she just had surgery and continued with her grumpiness. It is no the customer's fault you came back to work too soon. Perhaps a job where you do not lift or deal with customers would suit her better.

I grew up on a 400-tree holly orchard, so when I heard about the Shoemaker holly, I was all over…read moreit. My grandfather planted the orchard by hand in the 60s and 70s, as a (then) future retirement project, and in the late 80s my parents bought it from him. I began helping work on the trees at age eight, so I am pretty familiar with hollies. The Shoemaker holly is not what I expected. Hollies take much of a conical or spearmint leaf shape, and typically their branches grow all the way to the ground, especially if grown in a field as opposed to competing for sunlight in a forest. NJ wild hollies do tend to climb for sun, gaining more height than fullness, making them gangly looking, and branches can tend to be distortedly curved as opposed to just reaching out on all sides, like a person holding arms out to stretch. Like wild hollies, the Shoemaker holly is bare at the base of its trunk (much more bare than its field surroundings would normally yield), and its branches are kind of pent up, like it's been wedged between city buildings all its life. But heck for 325 years old, it's a lot prettier than I'd be, and the oddness of it gives it charm. And I am sure it's been pruned, and helped along by tree surgeons throughout its life. There have also been blights that have come through the region, and plagues of holly pests, which I remember coming in relentless waves in the 90s/early 00s. So, this tree has survived a lot, and it's standing tall and proud along the NJ Turnpike for all to see. The tree is located in the picnic rest stop area, with plenty of parking, picnic benches, trash cans, and a little path into the woods. The old tree is marked with a sign, and you can drive up to it along a driveway past the parking area. There used to be bathrooms at this picnic area, but they were demolished in 2014.
