The first time I went to Aspen Dental everyone was so nice and polite. Clean offices and patients…read morerooms. I thought this is going to be a good experience. I went to back to have my few remaining teeth pulled and get dentures. After almost 3 months of going there I have had alot of problems. First off they did a 3d image of my mouth. Worst experience ever. What happened to the old way, make a mold. The 3d wand is big and it didn't fit inside my mouth very good. I have a small mouth so the image couldn't have been accurate. On the next visit the dentist pulled my teeth and put my dentures in. I was told to wear them so I would get use to them. I couldn't wear them because the pallet was to long at the back and all I did was gag. The sides kept poking into the back of my jaw and they were way to thick for my mouth. On the third visit I only saw the dentist for only a couple minutes. The assistant trimmed the off the back a little, filled them with silicone reliner and told me to wear them and don't take them out. So I tried. They were still to thick and it felt like I had a wad of paper in my mouth. I couldn't talk very well and trying to eat with them was even worse. Soft food only. Also on the second visit I was told I needed to pay more money or they couldn't see me. $247. After a lengthy conversation with them they agreed to see me but I had to pay them for future visit. All that My insurance, my down payment and monthly fee was discussed on the first visit and agreed upon. I had to sign a contract, give them the down payment before they would ever see me again. Keep in mind I had to pay 300 dollars down and I made my first payment before they pulled my teeth or made my dentures. I kept my part of the agreement. When I got home from that second visit I called the main office and explained the situation. They called the franchise and told them I had complained about owning more money and not being able to see the dentist. Only the assist. When I went back the third time they were nice but had a touch of a impatient tone to their voice. To cut this short, I'm going back in a couple weeks, fourth time. Dentures are still way to thick, I still gag, can't talk without a lisp and still can't eat solid food. I don't know what to do. I want to ask for new dentures made from a mold not 3d. I don't think my dentures can be fixed so that they fit properly and comfortable. I don't have much faith in them doing it the proper way which is new dentures made from a mold and not so thick and long. I don't have the money to pay for new dentures. Anyway, I would not recommend going there for dentures. They may do a good job on other procedures but not dentures. I wish I could post pictures of my dentures on here. Just be careful going there.

So a month later we get a $130.00 bill. That floored us. So my wife called and we were told that they were no longer an in network provider. That they got a letter from our insurance provider dropping them from the network. I understand these things happen. But upon check in they never said anything about no longer being in network when in fact they knew they weren't. When checking in they always asked if there is any changes to our insurance. We didn't know that they were dropped as our insurance company never notified us of the change. So we appealed the bill to Shallotte Family Dentistry and they refused to work with us on their bill citing that they file our insurance as a courtesy. Beware, that you could end up with a huge bill if you had more work than a cleaning done. I would no longer recommend them.

I recently had a tooth pulled and Dr. Carmichael had the tooth out and was going over how to take care of it in a matter of minutes. I decided right then this is my new family dentist. On my follow up visit he checked my teeth out and found some issues and sat down and explained all my options, the best options and the most cost effective options. Plus the fact that they open at 7 am so I don't miss much work is awesome. Definitely worth looking into if your looking for a dentist.
