After being surprised by Josef's approximately $900 quote to replace the movement of the watch (a standard quartz movement that itself is available for sale online for ~$40) I took the watch to JR Dunn in Pompano--an authorized Tag dealer and repair shop, where Josef's is not--and was quoted less than $300 to have the entire job done, by Tag themselves, with a warranty. Shamelessly quoting 3x a certified dealer for the exact same job is outrageous.

First of all Steve and his wonderful wife have been my Jewelers for the past 20 years. Steve designed my weeding ring and now a few years later has done it again. He designed my wedding band to go with my ring. I told him what I wanted and he just make it. This is a true family business and they care about you and take time. Best Jewlers around. I was looking for an honest family owned business and that's exactly what I found. I had my engagement ring and wedding band cut off my finger, not knowing what to do Steve suggested we try to salvage the old band and try to reset the diamond in a new setting because it had been improperly fixed with a different material. I had a ring with bead work that encircled most of the ring. I needed to get it sized down and Steve was able to do a seamless sizing keeping all of the bead work intact. The man left no evidence he did anything to the ring and that's a sign of an excellent jeweler. Janet and the other staff members out front are all super friendly. Plus Platinum Jewelry screwed me over TWICE and TOOK MY MONEY…read more I asked them for a watch overhaul. They took my money up front and eventually got back to me with the "fixed" watch, which was now 8 seconds faster than normal. Each time I asked them to fix the problem, they took the watch, "fixed" it, then returned it to me, but the watch was always off-sync. This continued for a total of 9 TIMES. I ended up asking for a refund because they continuously failed to fix the watch's issues, and they responded by showing me a Google result that claimed that it was normal for a watch to be out of sync give or take 10 seconds. Then why not tell me that before charging me $1000 for a watch that you can't even fix? I had another watch that I requested a price estimate for a movement cleaning. They took 4 DAYS to get back to me, claiming that they "wouldn't be able to fix the watch". I NEVER asked them to "fix" this watch, only asking them for a price estimate. When I opened the watch, I realized that they had tampered with the watch, with some components beyond repair. They refused to take responsibility for it, and initially refused to even acknowledge the fact that they tampered with the watch, straight up lying to my face. At some point they admitted to me that their mechanic wasn't used to fixing Breitling watches (this was a $50,000 watch they ruined!). TL;DR: Benjamin and his son Jacob both lied to me. They took my money for a watch they ultimately weren't even able to fix. They also messed up another one of my $50,000 BREITLING watches and refused to take responsibility for it. If you're going to do business with these people, TAKE THOROUGH PICTURES OF YOUR ITEMS, INSIDE AND OUT BEFORE YOU GIVE IT TO THEM. They will not take responsibility if things go wrong.
