Do NOT use Atlas Driveway. They did not use a transit to measure accurately the measurements and pitch. Our driveway flooded because the pitch wasn't right. We insisted they redo the section. With spring rains, the driveway began to develop a white cloudy color from water getting under the topcoat. Through the winter the driveway developed cracks and by spring the crack were huge. We finally got them to come back and recoat the driveway and now into the 3nd year a $20,000.00 driveway has so many cracks you would think it's a 25-yr old driveway. Joe DaGostino, the salesman, was nasty through the whole process, and said it wasn't his problem. We would NOT recommend Atlas to anyone. read more

Needed a walkway replaced that was in disrepair. Dina from Atlas Paving responded the next day to take measurements and quote a price. She was beyond helpful in explaining options and colors. She stayed in touch texting different ideas. She even arranged to have a Nicolock rep come to the house with a trailer in tow which contained different paver examples. Our choice, Penn Blue, was made based on seeing it in person. Alex and his crew showed up early this morning to complete the job. They were meticulous the entire time, making sure everything was perfect. It was obvious how much pride they take in their work. The final outcome was amazing, what a difference! I do not know where to begin, but stay away from this company!!! MICHEAL came to my house to give me a estimate on a new black top driveway . Everything sounded great, we saw some nice samples, agreed on next steps and got promised everything will look brand new, just as in the pictures. I was at work when I received a phone call that crew is on its way to my house to do the black top. No advance notice! I work in Manhattan and someone had to be present when the work is done. I tried to explain to Melissa, THE MANGER, that I would have appreciated a bit of a notice. She not only didn't want to hear me, but started screaming "I don't care, get someone at your house my guys are in the area. If not today, we will delay your work." I had to get my mom at house ASAP! Two days later, I called the company as the driveway looked not very well done, and was not as smooth black as what we discussed, and had tiny holes. The main office referred me back to call MICHEAL , who is an 'estimator'. So, I called MICHEAL and told him my concerns, this is still while the driveway is during up, mere 2 days have past. OMG!!! He listened to what I was not happy with and said black is all different color....'Aren't black people all different shades of black" In what universe do we compare blacktops to black people? I am still shocked something like this can come out of someone's mouth, less so a person who is in sales. More so, in this day and age. I was speechless and called back the office manger to tell her about MICHEAL racist comment. She said "you would have to excuse him", and that there is nothing mor they can do about the work. A week later I called back again to tell them again that the driveway had cracks and doesn't look well done. They agreed and sent someone to take a look. He filled two of cracks and said to wait a year to get a seal coat. I don't mind a seal coat, but is it normal to be told I would need one on a brand new driveway. I hired Atlas to do my pavers & driveway back in Mid to late August & it was a disaster from the beginning. Tyler came to my home to give me an estimate. We walked & reviewed what I wanted to get done & he handed me a black booklet which had a gray house & beautiful gray & Black paver. I told Tyler to please price this look. He said he would & gave me the price which I accepted. It wasn't until after the demo was completed & time for me to pick the paver color did, I find out he didn't price what we discussed but instead priced up a single layer of pavers & I would need to include an additional $5k to install what we had originally discussed. At this point, I just needed to get it done so I accepted this mistake but wasn't happy. The paver installation was a total nightmare! This was the most unprofessional part of the project. My driveway was a one car semicircle & I wanted to extend this to a 2 car semi-circle. Their "Masons" didn't level any pavers they put down. You can see the pavers are going up & down & up & down. They didn't set the pavers in the concrete correctly which caused them to move. On both side of the driveway. They installed the pavers at least 3 feet into my driveway around the semi-circle. All the corners were so unprofessionally done. It didn't look like a professional did it at all. I understand in construction, things happen but own up to it especially when it is SOOO glaringly obvious. But not Tyler. He's a true "snake oil salesman" is what my neighbors call him. Instead of just saying "Sorry Mr. XYZ you're not happy we'll fix it" he tells me things like "some other customers like the pavers into their driveway" or my favorite line "the pavers are kind of level" like being level is subjective. The blacktop is about 4- 6 quarters stacked higher than the pavers in most areas. The pavers at the concrete curb apron at the front of my driveway & blacktop are all at different elevations. Instead of starting the pavers at the town sideway, they started it about 3" away. Then proceeded to fill the space with concrete (which has already cracked and chipped away) The existing concrete going into my backyard is about 5" lower than the pavers they installed. They didn't level the pavers to allow for any drainage. Whenever it rains, there is a huge POOL of water because the pavers & existing concrete aren't on the same level & the water has nowhere to go. There is a pool in the summer & ice-skating rink in the winter! There are multiple asphalt top pebbles breaking off already. It didn't even last 6 months. I watched the asphalt installed on my ring camera & watched as they allowed the asphalt to harden & rushed to heat it back up. The two halves converge right in front of my front door. There is a visual groove where the 1st layer ended & 2nd layer began. It already is pooling water & will be a huge crack in the driveway in the next year or sooner. This by far is the worst contractor I have dealt with & I bought a fixer upper, so I dealt with a few over these 6-7 years. They are cheap for a reason! If you have the misfortunate of hiring them, make you don't give them 50% to start. Start with 20%. Make sure there is at least 15-20% remaining at the end of your project. More importantly, make sure you're home & watching them! No one is watching the work they put in & No one cares about the quality of the work. If I could do it again, I would spend the extra $200-300 & use a different contractor that does strictly homes! read more

My experience with using Atlas Asphalt is full of ups and downs and ultimately some minor things really frustrate me as a customer Liam was very good at the quoting process And working with Megan was a pleasure to coordinate the grading, masonry and the final asphalt But when it came to finalize the brick work I had done thy did not have enough poly sand to fill in the cracks Dealing with getting this scheduled has been an absolute nightmare with the office Manager Melissa basically making me feel like I am putting them out They missed all the dates they provide me with 3 that were weeks apart and now will not provide me with any more dates only saying call me back I thought the work they did was good however they did not finish and I was asked to pay in full which I should not have done but I trusted them I will write back if this gets resolved and will have to file a complaint with the BBB As there is quite a bit of brickwork that was not secured with the poly sand Not sure why this was such a big deal and why they get frustrated with the paying customer read more

We had a bit of a tricky project that required close attention and decisions needed to be made along the way. Not the same anymore for seal coating driveways. We have been using them for a few years and their quality of work has fallen. My driveway seal coated last summer has peels and cracks everywhere. I called them about the hair line fillers they used when it was done last summer that didn't seem to have been done properly compared to the last few years and they claimed it was my driveway not their service. Of course it did not stand a good seal for the winter and is now peeling off with the cracks exposed. How can you say that its my driveway when it was filled properly and looked beautiful previously by your work? They certainly failed me in service and customer service. Just had a small driveway job done by Atlas (around 35'x11') with Belgian block and asphalt. They did an excellent job! Driveway looks beautiful, they were professional, communicated well every step of the way and price was competitive with others in my area. The guy (didn't catch his name) who cleared out the old driveway and leveled the property also offered to do a section of my front lawn that obviously needed levelling, at no add'l cost. He was amazing on that machine! I have a back driveway onto an alley that needs to be done as well. As soon as I get my new garage, I will be calling Atlas for sure! We called Atlas and waited for service for a week. From the moment they arrived; they let us know they underquoted the sealing job. It only took them about 30 minutes for our driveway. During the call they asked if cracks needed to be repaired and we noted yes and surcharge was applied to the billing. They only addressed (4) of the cracks and neglected all other (4) we pointed out. The Employee had a NEGATIVE attitude from the beginning. They returned and the negativity was amplified, even the personnel answering the call was rude and unprofessional. The job was payed in full. They should have done it right from the first time. It is the worse business experience we've ever had. The lack of professionalism and respect made it terrible for our family. We will never use their services again and not recommend this to no one! BUYER BEWARE!!! They need business, management and people training. This is sad, very sad. This company recently installed a blacktop driveway and walk at my neighbors house. The driveway was extending onto our property and we went to advise the foreman; Torak. As we were discussing the situation he told my husband "Get in the f*ing house before we put it over further than it should be. Stop bothering my men; which we were not and to get in the house before I have an f*ing heart attack." We called the office to advise the manager and she was very nice and apologetic; however no one, nonetheless seniors should be spoken too like that. Buyer beware. read more

Problems started appearing in the parking lot within 2 years of installation including long cracks and chunks of loose asphalt, some of which completely came out leaving nothing but the sand base. Repeated calls to the company including "Liam" their estimator were for the most part ignored, unless you consider the one brief text response from "Liam" telling me the repair would be over $2000 which was about 25% of the cost of the initial job which I believe was not done correctly the first time given the problems. read more

It's disappointing I have to write this review as I have tried to work with the business to give them the opportunity to make the situation right and they have continually stonewalled me. We had our driveway paved along with a paver walkway done as well. Initially everything was going well - they do the rip out almost immediately. Then, it starts to get dragged out: I had to call and check up on them a lot, and confirm things a lot. I'd have to call to ask what the next step was, call to ask when someone was coming again, when is the driveway being completed (after it was ripped out), etc. The staff in the office is very short, usually cuts you off, abrupt, etc. They also fail to inform you of the process, etc. making you feel lost and uninformed. The biggest issue is the paver walkway, although I'm not thrilled with the driveway - as there is a bump in the front, and isn't as smooth as it could be. Also, the belgium blocks at the bottom - the white that separates them - is too thick and isn't attractive looking. It just doesn't look professionally done, honestly. The walkway, however, is the biggest issue as they did not use POLYMERIC SAND. This is the kind of sand needed to properly do any kind of pavers. Google gives a basic description for those unaware: "Polymeric sand is simply a granular sand material that is placed within the cracks and joints between stone pavers as a means of interlocking the units and preserving the beauty and integrity of the pavers. A water-activated polymer is introduced to the sand, and acts as a bonding agent." Almost immediately after the job was done our pavers were shifting, moving, etc. Almost immediately, grass had begun to grow, along with weeds, in between the pavers. At first I thought the heavy rain we were having had caused the sand that was there to erode. I called and asked them to come back and they did - not happily, everything with this company is an argument - but they did. Finally, when it started happening again I realized that they just used regular sand! Not Polymeric sand! After calling and calling, the mason worker actually came back and TOLD US that the Polymeric SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED and was NOT USED. That the "right way" to do it was to use it. After that, we had the "owner's son" come - we were told that's who he was, at least - and he was very abrupt with my husband, stating that the pavers are the way they are and they look fine. He even said, at least you don't have grass growing in between - so my husband was quick to point out, actually, YES we do. And it's not even a month after job completion!!! Wait until the winter - one snow fall and if we attempt to shovel, all of our pavers are going to come up, they move just by us touching them! He also tried to blame us saying, it looks bad like this because YOU chose the herringbone/diagonal pattern for the pavers. My husband informed him that, actually, we were never even asked or given an option as to a pattern and the mason worker took it upon himself to do a fancy pattern - which we liked the look of, it was pretty, however WE did NOT request that pattern. Once he realized all of this and saw the grass growing in between he didn't know what else to say because he could no longer deny how bad this was... and so he said he'd speak to his father and get back to us. He never responded. Just to get him there in the first place took dozens of phone calls. We tried to call him a few times after he said he would speak to his father and get back to us with no avail so we gave up and hired another company to come and put the Polymeric sand in and finish the job correctly. I would never recommend this company. I would never use them again. They were priced a little less than competitors and now I know why - you get what you pay for. I will share my story on EVERY SINGLE social media and online platform I can so that other people don't have to deal with what we are dealing with after laying out $4,000 to have something done incorrectly. read more

Had my driveway completely re done; new apron new Belgian blocks... etc. less than 6 months driveway has settled, has tire marks, and asphalt is soft to the touch on warm days. Getting the run around from each employee "we understand it's faulty asphalt...." Biggest waste. Do not walk from this company RUN away as fast as you can They do not stand behind their work, or honor warranty. Biggest run around .. Update 9/2019      Several things are glaring untruths:             1.   Atlas did not install a new driveway as promised.  Atlas merely paved over the defective driveway.  The only "new" sections were those that abutted my garage door and street apron.  They cut those sections out, as repaving over the existing driveway at those junctures, would have left a discernible lip and speed bumps at either end.             3.  Contrary to Atlas' assurances that the repaving would not reduced the profile of my  Belgium block border, the appearance of the Belgium block border was reduced by as much as 70%.  In some areas the Belgium block is all but flush to the elevated asphalt and lost.             4.  Tire marks are again showing despite their efforts to the contrary, on my recapped driveway.  I can only imagine what it will look like next summer, when temperatures reach 85 and above.  Given Atlas Asphalt's righteous indignation, where will Atlas Asphalt be when my driveway looks like the La Brea Tar Pits?          One truthful statement was that I refused to sign a satisfaction report.   I Was Not Satisfied with the results.   The driveway was repaired like a patchwork quilt, and over the initial driveway, that was by their own admission "not up to par", and poorly done first attempt.   My Belgium blocks that had a nice emergence profile is all but obliterated by their "repair" solution....and yes, I regrettably will be taking them to court to seek relief and restitution of my hard earned money.   I then can get a reputable company to actually rip up and redo the asphalt properly and replace the Belgium blocks that have all but disappeared from the border.  I have other estimates and have been told the Belgium blocks that just peek up along the driveway's border , cannot be cut from Atlas' recap and additional layer of asphalt.  They are now locked into the repaving and cannot reasonably be reused.           My advice is to draw your own conclusions and to proceed with caution.  I intend to pursue litigation and let a judge decide. read more

DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. Never show up when scheduled. Will confirm an appointment the day before, then not show up, and just tell you when you're rescheduled for whether or not you are available. Work done is average at best and I'm trying for a month for a month to have them come back on the warrantee and they just cancel for a 3rd time. AVOID this company at all costs. BTW don't even ask to speak to someone in charge, they're never available even to call a customer back. I would give less than one star but can't. read more

They send a crew out today to fix some pavers that were loose from the work that they did and they seal coated my driveway for no cost. Used this company to rip out and replace existing driveway. Long Story short. I was not home when they did install.. got home and driveway all messed up. When it rained my garage became flooded. Numerous calls... Nothing... ended up small claims court. Arbitrator had them replace driveway. Please read my previous review first, which outlines a play by play of my dealings with this company. This review starts back on May 10th. Read my previous review for details following up to this date... 5/10, I am not told that I am scheduled for work on Saturday. I only happen to find out because I called the office to ask them about how long I should wait/drive on the RCA before the masonry is done. The crew shows up on time, they install the Belgian Block borders. The work only takes about 3 hours, and they do a fantastic job. No issues here. 5/15, It hasn't been a full 2 weeks as initially recommended by the office, but since my project has been on-going for such a long time they insist that my RCA from the 3rd excavation does not need to settle. "Besides, our 10 ton roller will compact it down." Alright, I oblige. The crew shows up on the 15th to lay the asphalt, it though seems to be hot, it does not show up in a traditional Hotmix Truck seen on commercial jobs. It just hauled in on a dump truck. Who knows how long it's been in the truck, but I can see some steam coming off so I am not too concerned. I overhear the foreman taking a call from what I think is someone scheduled for later in the day (which they are late for) ensuring the asphalt will be hot so not to worry... hm... By the way, the roller is NOT nearly 10 tons as advertised by both the estimator and the office, but merely 2 tons, which is approximately the same weight as a normal car. People who drive trucks or SUVs might want to reconsider using Atlas just for this reason alone. The work is finished at this point. They collect final payment, tell me not to drive on it for 2 weeks, and I am finally out of their hair! Or so they thought... 5/29, the first day I am allowed to drive on the new asphalt. I immediately notice that there are minor tire marks that have worn into the asphalt, but it's very minute so I am not too concerned unless it puddles water (which I haven't noticed). HOWEVER, I notice weeds growing through my new driveway! What the hell? What ever happened to "Worry free for 15 years?" This is only day ONE as far as I'm concerned. I call the office, and they tell me it's not uncommon. "Some people opt to put down a weed preventer like Preen before the asphalt is laid." Why wasn't that information presented to me when it was relevant? Too late now! Plus, if it's as common as you say it is, why isn't it included in the work? They tell me that undiluted household ammonia will kill any vegetation, and just keep putting that down until the weeds subside, and call back to have a crew heat and tamp the problem areas where weeds have cracked through. I don't take their advice this time, because I know that ammonia, or NH3 in chemical nomenclature, is used as commercial FERTILIZER. The 'N' in NH3 is Nitrogen, which is a primary element found in all common NPK based fertilizers. Either these people have NO IDEA what they are talking about, or they know exactly what they're preaching and are trying to trick you into promoting weed growth and destroying your new driveway to get repeat repair/patchwork business. I put down Roundup, which is a known herbicide. I also pulled the weed that was growing though, and measured it only to be 1-1/8" long. Assuming that their hot mix asphalt is not contaminated with weed seeds, this indicates that the laid asphalt is only that deep. About 80% less than the 2" as promised on the original quote. Stay tuned. I will update this review once I am completely satisfied. However long that may take... read more
