They did a very good job. Showed up early, worked hard, compacted our trash as much as possible (I think) to fill the truck. (They charge by the 1/4, 1/2 or full truckload.) I took away one star on this review because they were expensive. However, the way most of the hauling companies work, it is cumbersome and time-consuming to price-compare. They don't publish prices because it's really hard to know how much space your stuff is really going to take up. Ours, for example, ended up being a full-to-the-brim truckload. Who knew? It didn't look like it would be that much when it was spread out around the property. Atlas, like other junk haulers, comes out and does a free estimate onsite. When they got here, and I heard the general truckload price, I was a bit taken aback. But I just didn't think I had that much junk. I was thinking in terms of a half load price, which didn't seem so bad. If I could rewind and do this again, I would be thinking in terms of negotiating the full truck load price. Still, I should have said "no thanks" and let them drive away. Then I might have known if there was any wiggle room on the price. Maybe they would have said they'd do a full truckload for $550 instead of $675, or whatever. But I was overeager to get rid of my junk, which had been bothering me for too long, so I capitulated. And once the truck is loaded, of course, it's too late to negotiate. The other point on which I would fault Atlas Hauling is that they did not use adequate protective gear, which I would have expected for professionals in their line of work. Mike wore what looked like cloth gardening gloves. His helper -- who was very eager, strong, and a hard worker -- wore decent boots but no gloves at all. He said it was because of a nerve condition in his hands. Neither of them wore protective eye-wear. Maybe OSHA is okay with that, but as a customer, I was very nervous for them. I did not ask them about insurance, I just took that for granted. But I wonder if something had happened, if I would have been liable in any way. Next time, I'll check on insurance and insist on protective gear for the sake of their health and my own liability. read more

Im 99% sure this is company helped my wife today. My wife went to drop off an old bed frame to the Santa Clara transfer station today. When she got there she didn't realize that a transfer station is different than a landfill drop off.
