I have to remove items from my mom's house after she passed , and chose 1-800 got junk because it was a big name brand . From my research I heard it would cost a premium , but they were considered to be reliable and have good service . Well, I was wrong. Ten minutes before the scheduled arrival time a guy calls me telling me that the team is finishing a very large removal project , and they won't be able to come by until "at least" 2.5 hours later, which would be at least 7:30pm . It would be dark by then and who wants to have people trying to remove large items in the dark?! Plus, I don't care if they're doing a large project ... that's on them and has nothing to do with me ... it doesn't garner sympathy or something by giving that explanation. I'm a customer too. I actually booked my flight just for this junk removal. Im in the business world, and I don't think this was good business imo. And when there is something like this as a red flag , I am not going to move forward . Also, if it's a big project that they're finishing ... they'd be tired by the time they get to me! But I think all things happen for a reason, and I'm for sure going to use one of the local junk removal places instead . I'm sure it will be cheaper too. read more

Solid service from Derriq and Johnny! Super friendly and helpful and assisted with our Junk removal needs. As of the time of writing, I believe the minimum charge was $189 (or somewhere there abouts) with a mattress covering this minimum charge. There was a $25 recycle fee for a mattress. Would HIGHLY recommend this service for any big single items (or maybe a small bedroom). Looks like a lot of 1 star reviews are coming from huge projects and misunderstanding of pricing. When the two employees arrived for the appointment window, they showed me a quote sheet that had different prices from the company's website that had shown when I had entered my zip code. After talking to them and showing them the prices online, and talking about the size of the item and how much space it would take in the truck, we were able to bring the price down to a reasonable price that would have matched other hauling companies for this particular item. The end of this service ended up with a good result as they hauled away the item without damaging my house, but I strongly caution the estimates the employees give. It seems to vary a lot, given the variation in the reviews. It's a good service, but approach with caution and be ready to have a conversation before accepting the quoted price. I would use this service from the same company again, taking the same cautions. I would have truly gotten ripped off if I had just accepted their first suggested estimate. I called on October 21 to get a price on the removal of a queen size mattress, one item. They said they could pick it up the next day (Oct. 22) and it would be $59. When they showed up they said it would be $150 plus a recycling fee of $29, three times the price quoted me the day before. I asked why they didn't honor their quote and they said it was a mistake on their end and that it was a special price that is no longer valid. I told them I wouldn't use their service. They took my junk - which was good and as expected. They left big scrapes in my hardwood floors - which was not good and not expected. The owner did an "investigation" which entailed talking to the movers (her staff) and surprise, surprise they denied having damaged my floor. So they closed the "investigation." They said they we not culpable because I took a few days to contact them. Well..I took a few days to write this review too...because... life gets busy. So if you're considering hiring them... tell me....does this make you want to use their services? Do my comments seem real, even if it took me a few days to write about what happened? Called at 2:30pm. The lady on the phone was polite and well spoken. She had time available petty much immediately. Within 30 minutes of my initial call I was contacted by Josh. He too was polite and well spoken. He showed up as promised. He was wearing a mask and he quickly provided me an estimate. Shortly after he got cracking, Raymond showed up to help. They quickly obliterated my pile of "Junk" and they did it with a smile. My only comment would be that it wasn't "cheap". But. These days nothing really is. And. I mean. I scheduled a pick up to remove my junk. I removed a queen size mattress, box spring and a medium size desk. The guy that came to pick it up was very nice and moved it down a flight of stairs by himself. He was very helpful, and everything was moved out within 20 mins which was very fast. Overall the cost was $458 ($40 to recycle the box spring and mattress) it was 1/3 load of the truck based on his estimations. He even disassembled my bed frame to remove and junk it! Overall I would use the service again but it is on be expensive side. read more

My overall experience was great! I didn't have much stuff to haul off, and when the technician, Raymond, showed up, he quickly assessed and expected he would need 1/4 of truck space, quoting me at that price (which I was fine with). Once finished, he ended up only using 1/6th of truck space, and was very honest to point that out and adjusted the final bill to reflect that! I was very surprised at the honesty displayed, and his efficiency to get the truck loaded with all the junk we had in a timely fashion and under the initial quote! Not really caring about the cost, though they are expensive, Brendan and Joe saved me a lot of time, headache and manual labor. You make an appointment, tell them what will removed, they show up and they quote you a cost on a laminated sheet by how much of a truck load your stuff will occupy. These people are the absolute best! I've been on a major deep clean in the process of moving to a new place, and while it's kicking my butt, I am happy to know 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is around to help lug all the built up junk away! You can book them super easily on the website, and someone will call to confirm the appointment and ask you about what junk you're looking to toss. (Bonus to all procrastinators, I've booked appointments the night prior and they've still shown up the next day!) I've used them about 3 times now, but my experience today has been the best by far! Tom and Brendan were so friendly and quick about everything and super flexible. I kinda threw a few curveballs their way when my landlord asked if he could tack on a few extra items, but they were so, so nice about it all and it was "not a problem!" I feel completely ripped off by 1800 Got Junk Silicon Valley, both on the big picture and being nickled-and-dimed on small details. I expected to pay $1500ish, and ended up paying twice that. I had some construction debris to haul - drywall, carpet plywood, etc.  The rep outlined the charges on-site - $709 for "bed load" of a quarter full truck of drywall, and then I could $150-$750 or so depending on how much more of the truck I fill above the bed load (truck is 14cu yd in total).  I approve, thinking all the debris might be close to a full truck, and I continue working inside while the crew of two loads. They get less than half the debris loaded, and tell me the truck is full.  I'm a little surprised, and walk outside to see how full it is, but - alas - the door is closed and when I ask if I can see they apologize and note that an appliance is propped up against the door and so it can't easily be reopened.  But peering in thru the cracks, it looks far less than half full, so I assumed it was just a bed load; since they offered (and I agreed) for them to come back afterward to haul the rest, this point (is it just a bedload, or a bedload and more) is a major point of contention in the bill. They haul it to the dump, and I give them the thumbs up to return for a second truck.  When they come back, they tell me - when I inquire - that the weight of the first load was 2140#. They load the truck again - supposedly another bed load and another full truck, and again, I'm not fast enough to see the load before they finish up (though it does look a bit more full than the first). So here's my issues: 1) Overcharged $700ish (twice): The first load was nowhere near the top, nor nowhere near a bed load.  A "bed load" of drywall, filling about a quarter of the truck with drywall, would weigh 1750-2625#.  Somehow the remaining 3/4 of the truck was just a couple hundred pounds, or perhaps even zero?  Or more likely, the truck was nowhere near full either with the bedload or the other volume-based debris, though I was not allowed the chance to properly inspect, and did not realize that this would be charged as a bedload and a full volume-based truck.  Based on the amount of debris they removed from the room and what little I could see through the cracks in the door, I'd guess well under half full. 2) Overcharged $20ish (twice): So if a bed load fills 1/4 of the truck, that means that there's 3/4 of the truck left for the volume charges.  However, they charged for the 1/4 truck bed load, plus 7/8 of the truck by volume.  Though the price difference was pretty small - only about $20 - I felt I paid too much already, and so tried pressing this point.  The rep insisted that this is how it works.  So I paid twice for some volume I didn't even use.  (Or actually, four times, given that this done on the second truck load too). 3) Overcharged $25: Then I get charged a $25 "freon appliance" fee.  I didn't notice that this surcharge was just for freon appliances at the time, as it was just explained as an "appliance" charge when he reviewed the final bill (albeit it wasn't mentioned in advance), but reviewing the bill after-the-fact, I see the freon annotation.  The sole appliance in the debris was a dishwasher, which does not have freon in it. I've previously used the company a few years back and was impressed by the service.  And this doesn't detract from the friendliness of the staff. But given this experience, I will never call them again.  I just dropped 900# off in my cargo van for $69. Sure, it's more of a hassle; it would have taken me about 5-6 loads in my cargo van (and close to a full day) in my cargo van, but I'd pay $400ish in dump fees rather than $3000. read more

I caught the junkmen of 1800gotjunk talking about "fluffing" my load. I only had enough for half of one of their trucks, but it magically got bigger and filled up more than 3/4 of the trucks box. At the end I confronted them about this and was able to look inside the back of the truck from my upper house window. There was a large void space... If you use this company. - Check the back of the truck before paying. - Watch them as they load it. Do not trust them to do the honest thing. I did have an honest conversation with the employees concerning this. Their reason was of a fear of losing their job. They are "encouraged" to make the loads look as big as possible, so they can make more money. They get a small portion of the profits. They informed me of the poor pay and work culture as well, which reinforced their reason of trying to overcharge me. I understand their situation, but it's not right!
